Favorite Blu-Ray & DVD Slipcovers

One of my favorites is the Special Edition DVD release of Memento. It's made to look like a file folder and it has a bunch of his notes he writes to himself and the Polaroids he takes are printed on it. When I upgraded to the Blu-ray I never got rid of the DVD, for two reasons, that cool packaging and... the DVD has the old school DVD feature where it has a hidden Easter Egg where if you answer a bunch of questions about the movie right, it unlocks an edit of the movie that is told in order since the theatrical and official version of the film is told starting from the end and works its way back to the beginning. Another one I used to have... and I don't think I do anymore :( ... is The Special Edition DVD release of Se7en where the set is in what looks like one of John Doe's notebooks.

Those last ones like Fight Club are gate fold slipcovers.

Checked through my collection and found a cool one, the die-cut slipcover for the Scream trilogy boxset on DVD.

I'm right there with you. I love slipcovers, especially the lenticular ones for my 3D blurays. Those slipcovers add to the theme for me.

We all love those slips. Sometimes it’s fun to get custom ones made. I like hour True Romance clear slip.

@thelastmoviestanding oh for sure. I'm also huge on the actual disc art. I love it when the disc are is a subtle or obscure nod to the movie. For example, the DVD disc art for Jett Li's Kiss of the Dragon is the the red pool ball that he kicks out of the side pocket and takes out a bad guy with. Love these creative touches

@@thelastmoviestanding well I love the content. We're the same age and have similar taste in our collections. I'm at about 1500 pieces of physical media. Between my VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray. With minimal 4K. I'm about to spend the winter organizing and refining the collection.

When I sold my car last year, I thought I had accidentally misplaced my Apocalypse Now DVD with that casing and that the thing was in a landfill somewhere. I found it recently and, oh my goodness - Marlon Brando reading "The Hollow Men" on those extras poetry as its meant to be expressed.

My guess for the Transformers blue bar size is promotional related, because that was one of the first blu-rays released

I have that Transformers one on HD DVD and it looks way cooler because it's in the dark red of the HD DVD case instead of Blue.

My favorite case design was the FIGHT CLUB dvd digicase, that looked a lot like the Pulp Fiction one you have

It’s always the plastic slipcovers that add the most to the design, and the plastic ones hold up better than the cardboard 😎

I loathe slip covers! That box of slips just sits in my closet. Now I’m a sucker for slip boxes and premium packaging. I do appreciate when the art is different between the slip and the cover. Underworld is dope. I have that same transformers but in HD DVD. 😂 true lies true romance both good movies. The black Blu-ray case works so well with tropic thunder VS slips where the 1st ones I stopped throwing away. Uniformity is why I never cared for them. Side note my criterion’s mess with my ocd zero uniformity. Great video brother

I'm torn between having the slip or not. I'm super thrilled when I find an older title I've been looking for that still has a decent looking slipcover on it. The problem begins when I already have the movie w/o the slip and I either find another copy that has it or the slip is being sold separately. Ugh, I'll admit I've fallen victim to both rebuying the movie AND picking up the slipcover after the fact. To each their own I guess but I wish I didn't care about a uniform look for my collection on the shelf so I could ignore the existence of slipcovers all-together.

I do the EXACT SAME!! lol especially when I have a trilogy or franchise with them & some without, there's always 1 that doesn't have 1 & it bugs me to where debating buying it again with the slip lol.
