My favorite pickup this year was Demolition Man. I had been dreaming of it coming to 4k for a very long time. It's one of my all time favorite movies so to not only finally get it in 4k, but to get it from Arrow in a nice chunky box set was incredible.

I really wanted The Hitcher and got it. Now, I want The Keep. And some day an uncut version of The Black Cauldron.

@thelastmoviestanding I just got the standard disc. It has all the extras on the same disc. I didn't bother with the box set because the art cards weren't reproductions of original lobby cards or anything like that. I wanna look at the American release to see if it has the same extras like the two short films from the director and writer. I bought both the dark sky and second sight 4k discs of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to see if they were different and they are, slightly, in color and what you can see from dark to light on screen. Neither one is better than the other, just a little different looking. I wonder if it's the same for The Hitcher.

German blurays are sometimes just DVD upscales put on a bluray disc. I once bought Bruiser on blu-ray like a decade ago and it looked the same as my region 1 DVD, also had all the same extras.

Yeah I had a few of those rare finds for out of print blurays too. This year was good. For example I found the original Short Circuit on bluray it was just sitting at my half price for 8.99 when its going for alot more on ebay. Then I ran into Go on bluray another great find and then finally the Arrow release of Killer Klowns from Outer Space for like $20. Very great year in collecting

Recently discovered your channel and really appreciate your videos. Some of fave purchase this year were The Warriors Limited Edition and the Nico Mastorakis collection (I can finally retire old VHS) from Arrow Video and the beautiful deluxe release of Franky Freako from Raven Banner. My favs were mostly collector set type purchases. In order I got them: Conan Chronicles 4K, Californication complete series Blu-ray (import), Godzilla The Showa-Era Films Criterion digibook, The Last Unicorn steelbook (grew up with this movie), Inside Out 2 4K steelbook (I thought expensive at the time but no where near Deadpool or Willow money), The Project A Collection 4K, American Pie 4K (same as you) Columbia Classics Vol 5 (I have the first 4), Shawscope Vol 3 ( I have the first 2), Frank Capra at Columbia Collection (Great set of good to great movies in what I think is a nice unique display), Las Vegas complete series Blu-ray (one of my favorite TV shows), The Great Escape Arrow 4K, Kickboxer 4K steelbook with lenticular (second best behind Bloodsport JCVD movie).

Great list man. I feel you regarding bluray's vs 4k's. Good bluray's are almost like 4k's. 4k's benefit from higher bitrate, and HDR or Dolby Vision for the most part. Still very greatful for 4k.

That Tomcats movie does sell for like $100 which is still really high..but why does the dude have it up at $799?! Who would ever pay that for Tomcats?

Cool video, you have some odd treasures there sir. I found out about imports this year and tracked down some really good releases. It's funny though because I'll be sitting around thinking and some random scene from a movie I saw once on HBO or whatever, will pop into my head and I'll start trying to figure out what movie that was. Demi Moore has a couple that are really hard to find, I did track down The Scarlet Letter (widely hated movie) which I loved and still looking for the one where she's the boss and makes that guy "f" her (poor guy) and then he's all like "she made me do it".

Here are all the purchases I made this year (then I'll mention my favorites): -New (2024) releases: "Blood Simple" 4K, "American Sniper" 4K, "Godzilla Minus One" 4K, "Rush" 4K, "No Country For Old Men" 4K, "The Terminator" 4K, "Blazing Saddles" 4K, "Anchorman" 4K -Older (pre-2024) releases: "Star Wars" original trilogy despecialized, "Logan" 4K, "The Land Before Time," "30 Rock" the complete series, "The Shining" 4K, "Jaws" 4K, "Wayne's World" 4K My favorite purchases were "Rush" 4K, "Logan" 4K, "Godzilla Minus One" 4K, "Star Wars" despecialized, and "The Land Before Time." I had never seen "The Land Before Time" until this year. I ended up buying two copies. I was disappointed by "Anchorman" because only the theatrical version is in 4K. The unrated version is only on the 1080p disc that comes with it.

My Conan was also marked as delivered but I never got mine either! I wasn't able to get a new copy. Really bummed about that still. I also preordered the Lord of the Rings steelbook set, but that order got cancelled. I think my favorite purchase this year was a bunch of National Lampoon movies. I'm trying to collect them all.

I finally got my 4K box set of Harry Potter. Although Disappointed with the case, disc come loose and disc 1 was bouncing around in the case sadly.

The American Pie 4K reissue is coming Febuary 24th. It's probably gonna be with a slipcase but without the book. But i can't tell from the mockup.

So far in 2024 collecting 5 movies from 2023, 3 from 2022 and 1 from 2021 with Dutch release in 2022. Always nice if i can at New / earlier to collection for a nice price. Total count of new this year is 10 (count them as 8) . With 2 second hand stil in seal too, total count of New is 12 (count them as 10). What left are 19 (count as 18) who are second hand (not in seal) and from those iam moost happy with those: Jurassic World 3 Disc 3D set (3D+2D+DVD) I always whant movie in 3D and by prefer Dutch edition, also because it include dvd. € 10,00. Don't Say A Word € 5,00 In Time 2 Disc LE (BD+DVD). What be limited about this is that include special slipcover with diftent art/barcode € 2,00. Pitch Black € 5,00. Battle: Los Angeles LE steelbook € 5,00. Hunger Games: 3 Disc edition (2Disc BD + DVD) with slipcover. € 2,00. Hunger Games 2: 3 Disc edition (2Disc BD + DVD) with slipcover. € 2,00. 30 movies, 1 tv serie (count as 28) on Bluray is not bad.
