What perfect timing! I have a 4th and 6th grader this year and was leaning towards Jacks Insect. This may have changed my mind.

Hi, Thanks for joining us, so glad you found this post helpful! SCM recommends using living science books for grades 1-6. Starting in grade 7, SCM recommends using a conversational science text book for a more in depth study into the sciences. You can read more about this transition under "Science" on this page: simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/individual-graded-subjects/ On this page which has SCM's individual subject recommendations, you will see an optional supplemental living science book recommended at each grade level, perhaps these will be of interest to your student(s)! simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/individual-graded-subjects/ For a big picture overview of what science looks like through the grades, check out this post: simplycharlottemason.com/blog/science-through-the-grades/

They all look like great books and we loved to read them, but I cant find any of them in our library and I see some of them not available on Amazon, so where do you guys get these books to read? I found this same problem on the books introduced in the other video. Thank you.

A lot of times you libraries will buy books based on people requesting them. See if requesting them helps bring them to your library.

Unfortunately, many children's picture books have a short print life. Besides making requests to your library, used book sellers can often be a great resources.

With book lists accompanying the curriculum purchases, how many are actually NEEDED, and are extras paced for you to explore more deeply, or are they just go at your own pace as interest allows? I see the book lists for the sciences and get a little intimidated (even though I already own many😂).

This is a great question, Keri. For each of our resources we provide a book list and within that book list we make the designation of whether they are required for the completion of the curriculum or if they are more optional books in case you or your child want to take a deeper dive into the subject at hand. The amount of books needed versus optional will depend on the resource you are interested in and you can find the book list both on the product page under the "book list" tab or you can download a free sample of the resource and find the book list there as well. In the books we also have the book list broken down into which books you need by term so you could always work slowly to acquire the books you need for the first term and purchase the books for 2nd and 3rd term at a later time if you need to spread the purchases out a bit. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help.

Fortunately, Charlotte's method can be utilized anywhere although it may take some adjustments (which is ok!). We are not sure of a library system or book suppliers in India however it appears you can purchase from www.amazon.in
