It was full and drama and intensity. Her acting on the dance was spot on! She created some fantastic lines, her arms were clean and very beautiful and she created some lovely and strong shapes as well. What was really missing for me were the tilted hips. As a performance it was splendid, but technically it could have been stronger (although it was very strong). A 9.

When I saw that they was dancing do this music I was excited to see this! After I saw this routine, it was good! It was great but it was good. The content was there and the attack. The beginning and the end was damn magnificent! However, I started to get underwhelmed and I shouldnt Feel underwhelmed on this type of music. Especially towards the end where it began to get careful with the moves! However, it was a solid routine. I’ll give it a 9! It wasn’t that underwhelmed like last week!

How on earth did this not get full marks? The Paso Doble content was there. The dramatic aspect of the dance was there. And the timing was skillful and on point. Sure it is just the judges opinion, but when the judges don't give an adequate justification for the mark they award, it undermines the credibility of the competition. Credit must be seen to be given where credit is due and many will conclude that, on this occasion, Faye and Giovanni were badly and unjustly failed by Craig and Darcy.

This definitely had a Kevin Alan Little feel about it and a my fair lady, come English teaching Paso Double. Giovanni and Faye's interpretation of the story line starting as children in the back yards of a Fish and Chip shop with Alan riding his bike and playing with all the local kids. Then the drama and tension builds up when Faye was performing in My Fair Lady, and her battle with her music teacher for attending a Blackpool Silver Wedding Anniversary Party. The creepy music teacher threatened Faye, that if she attended the party, Faye would be stopped from appearing in the show! This was where Giovanni as a teacher battled together with Faye and the creepy music teacher in front of a hall full of teachers and kids, and Giovanni defends Faye, whilst all the other teachers were unaware of the connection to the back streets of Blackpool! Johannes Willis, tried to keep Faye calm, but she was raging having been ridiculed by the creepy music teacher! Giovanni managed to keep Faye calm and took her under his wing. She managed to go to the party where Graziano turned up, and still make the My Fair Lady Performance. The tension and drama continued when Faye went on a school trip to Costa Brava in Spain. Giovanni was sent as a protector and teacher. Faye had to battle with Oti Sharon Mabuse, Andrew johnny Peacock and a wind surfing sail. On their return, Giovanni had to retire as a teacher and Faye was blamed for reporting Giovanni to the school for misconduct when it was actually a different student. She suffered in her youth training scheme and was named Anne Diamond. Faye never saw Giovanni again, until recently in the reiki rooms. Faye forgave Giovanni for mistakenly thinking Faye had been to blame.

Eh, I hate when there are lifts in Paso (even if they are with the extra dancers). The choreography just did not stick with me here. She had very good Latin lines and her Paso technique was super good... plus there was good intensity. But it wasn't as memorable as I was expecting! I wish Giovanni had danced with her more... she looked her best when they were actually together! I get the whole production aspect, but this was a little overkill. I still enjoyed it. 9.

I disagree with you on the production. It was perfect. It did not get in the way of the performance but rather enhanced it. Faye just needed a bit more attack and the performance would have been as perfect as the production.

I don’t like those extra lifts for this dance (not required, and cheeky for Gio to add them in here). I know they want a ‘bang’ and ‘go big’ with this routine as it’s Blackpool but they don’t need resort to silly gimmicks like lifts or distracting interactions with the other dancers. That said, when they do the actual Paso as a couple, they look tight together. Nice Spanish lines, purposeful Paso ‘walk’ and Chassie capes. Thank goodness Giovanni is very likeable and charming pro (he’s a worthy replacement to Vincent Simone, the original Italian male pro on Strictly). Otherwise I would have gagged at that silly-looking sheer-fish-net top he’s wearing! Almost gave me a flashback to Gleb’s prison Tango routine that still gives me nightmare. (**shudders**! Happy thoughts now! Kittens… Puppies…). 9

SCD Observer Oh my gosh, I forgot about Gleb’s AT with Anita haha... part of me wishes he’d go back to Strictly. He’s currently a main pro over here on DWTS, and he never gets to shine. He always gets bad partners. I always go back and watch his and Anita’s dances to remind myself what he could be. Anyways, I thought the same as you on this dance. I don’t like lifts in general in dances that don’t traditionally have them, and I think more dancing with Gio would have benefited this performance. This is one of the dances where the production was overdone, sadly.

Is it just me or does Faye seem to be fading? I wonder if she's injured herself slightly or perhaps her body is just tiring but for me, this lacked a certain forceful attack and over-the-top energy. Yes it was dramatic with all the effects, etc, but Faye herself seemed to be a bit too poised and careful, especially towards the end. (I felt the same problem last week with her jive). For once, I agree with Craig's scoring.

Wow, that was definitely an intense and impressive performance. However, Faye’s posture was wrong all the time, sadly: their shoulders leaned forward and her pelvis was back throughout the entire choreography, and it's supposed to be the other way around. It's quite a basic feature of paso doble, so I wish at least one of the judges pointed that out. Nevertheless, the show they gave was astonishing. I'd give them an 8.5.

I was not as blown away by this as the judges. Lifts are not part of a traditional ('legal') Paso and even if we are saying that Strictly can pull the 'its an entertainment show' card, they are not necessary or needed to enhance the dramatic power which is endemic to this dance. Gio should know better! Speaking of which, I do feel too, that the extra beefcake quotient didn't really add anything to it either. From a technique POV, her footwork looks rather clunky to me in some of the spins. What is plain to see- as always- was her fantastic drive and dedication to giving it as much attack as she could muster! I loved the Chassies, the lines and the brilliant ending. But where is the 'whip it and wait?' Strictly continue to overpower the more subtle dances with crazy thunderous background music and set pieces. Could have been better. 8.
