The thing that pissed me off the most was there was literally no need to play this game at all, you are better off just doing a few battles in FC5 as it's exactly the same, they just put some NVC uniforms on the people, threw in a few trees and huts and said DLC in Vietnam, go run across the map and rescue your m8's...if u want.

Hope the Mars dlc is good. Far Cry is at its best when it's at its most ambitious and the Mars dlc oozes ambition. But after seeing this dlc I'm starting to have my doubts.

Worth A Buy So should it be a totally different game for the dlc? In fairness to the game that's kinda what dlc is....New map settings, new guns, new gadgets and I different objective. In fairness to you I have yet to play it but that seems like what dlc tends to be. I mean should it be a new game on an entirely different engine?

Chris Watson Well even if it does do all that it's still poorly designed which is Mack's point. It does add new weapons, vehicles, and a new setting to play on but it's done in a bad way that doesn't at all remotely resemble the feeling of Veitnam.

Couldn’t agree more. After the initial 15/20 minutes I thought Jesus, it feels like it’s just recycled assets thrown together in the map creator with a couple of missions thrown in. Some of the Vietnamese even run with the same animation of the melee nutters high on bliss from the original game. Just feels rushed and thrown together. Feels like there was more effort put into the opening comic strip cutscene than the entire dlc. Sad really because it could have been something great.

One thing I will disagree with you in this review Mack is while I played it seemed like I ran into a patrol every other minute. In my play through the VC seemed EVERYWHERE. I found it annoying how often I ran into a patrol

I hit 3 all game, I got some spawning near bases I was assaulting but that was it, no need to stealth around the map like a proper VC game, just sprint everywhere, totally lacked immersion.

Yeah of course it does, the Nam wouldn't be the Nam without GI's roaming the jungle on snowmobiles. Vietnam is a tropical environment it either rains or it doesn't. So if the game has rain it has seasons as far as they exist in Vietnam.

FC3: Blood Dragon was by the best Far Cry Ubi has made. I wish they'd get the hint and turn it into a full blown game (the sales at the time way exceeded their expectations). The marketing for that game was also hilarious.

I'm a little saddened you said the gun selection was good. Literally every gun is one you already got in Far Cry 5 normal. I didn't see anything new. From the flamethrower to AK to M60, it's all in normal far cry 5. They just reskinned and then not even.

Yeah it's true they are all the FC5 weapons but it does have a large selection of them but clearly some are missing from the Vietnam era such as the ppsh and carbine rifle.

The thing what annoyed me was that you could complete it in less than an hour if you wanted to and all the other stuff is filler. Another thing is why is there no other knives except throwing ones and a lack of new guns too? There’s so many guns back in the Vietnam war and there was bayonets, machetes and a load of other bladed and blunt weapons too being used , such a missed opportunity

Even 3 bucks is too much for this garbage DLC! Right from the getgo it looked like a cheap asset flip. If something like that is not only your first impression. But never leaves your though, throughout watching the content. Then the developers must have an anushole as big as a train tunnel!

During the chopper gunner bit, it really drove home the fact that casually placed explosive barrels in military shooters really needs to go. "Better put all of these bright red explosive barrels surrounding these straw huts!" Obviously this is only the zillionth game to do this, but it's just funny that we're STILL doing it.

I really wonder why the AI has to be so stupid in most games nowdays. Crouching behind 3 people and taking them out one after one by hitting them on the head? They don't hear the screams? lookss like they took the fc3 map and assets and placed random outposts, I've seen similar or better effort from the modding community, to see this effort put in from a game studio is slightly pathetic, a comic strip with some random placed assets and a few new weapons.. 10 bucks please

I wouldn't say it's bad, but not the best either. 10$ is indeed too much. Could have been a free update if you ask me, a bit more story could have made the gamemode more enjoyable. IMO, mini-game-modes as I'll call them, should have at least as much content as a standard Black-ops 1 Zombies map. Good review.

Hey mack. I noticed far cry 3 classic edition is out this month. Do you know if the 4 player co op will be availible like it was on last gen? Or will it only have the single player experience? I'm hoping it's there because I loved far cry 3 co op on ps3. I didn't play the single player either and after hearing every1 say it's great, I'm quite excited to play. Main reason I left campaign on ps3 was because the awful screen tear and apparently they fixed it for ps4 Xbox.

Richard Dawson each mercanary will be a dlc and different parts of the maps will be a dlc. Weapon packs, vehicle packs, air strike packs. You can imagine they would rape the game. The 2nd one was god awful. Part of the reason I despise ea.

What did you expect? It's Ubisoft. They tend to ruin their games (For Honor, Division, Ghost Recon Ghost War...etc.) then they try to improve it a bit. They are notorious for making games that are playable but nothing special. They are the typical "we're making games to make money not to entertain." I mean look at all their games. Most of them has HUGE potential to be great but Ubisoft cannot be assed to make them great. They do just enough to make them sellable so they can cash in on them and that's it. Their business model is "minimum effort,maximum profit" They're businessmen,not gamers with passion for great games.

in my play through i was constantly harassed by enemy patrols no matter where on the map i was, there was no 10 second gap in between enemies even in the deepest "jungle" where were no roads close by.. i did 100% this and can say it's pretty lame for a far cry dlc so on that we agree yes..
