Regarding your question, I guess Federal Court Interpretation is part of what's considered "Legal Interpreting" since it falls within the legal field, but it could be viewed as an area of specialization since it often requires passing a rigorous certification exam. Many interpreters gain experience in the legal field or obtain a state-level certification before attempting to obtain their federal-level certification. I know this can seem confusing and overwhelming initially, but you're asking the right questions, so keep researching and learning as much as possible! Best of luck!

Hi Marisol! That's awesome! I hope you nailed that exam! I am an independent contractor. In a nutshell, you can become a freelancer by signing contracts with one or multiple companies (language services providers) to provide interpretation services on demand as a contractor and you can also offer your services to clients who need interpreting services directly, with no intermediaries.

Hello Rosa. I am a blind woman who Wants to get certified as medical and court interpreter at the federal level. It seems like I will need to get a reasonable accommodations in order to get my training and testing done and I wanted to find out if you have an idea of which schools and certification place better provide accommodations to blind individuals.
