Thanks so much for sharing! I'm also shooting a lot from a closed range with lots of reflection. Using an external trigger - recoil based - greatly improved my measurements. Also setting the unit to LOW POWER can help with obstacles in front of the device. The only real benefit of using the NORMAL POWER is the potential to get additional velocity measurements at extended range - unless you're looking for those, LOW POWER might be worth a try. Also such a shame how the company behind LabRadar is neglecting this product. The "latest" firmware is from 2018! There's so many quirks in the controls of this device (long push of the ARM button to get to the results ... wtf!) and bugs in the bluetooth/app. Can't wait for a community firmware project that will finally unleash this amazing device!

Good explanation! I run mine with a 6" offset and put it 6" in front of the muzzle of the firearm. Heavily braked rifles and having the Labradar behind the muzzle will blow it off the bench. :)

That's a great tip too. I don't use brakes so it's a good reminder for those who do on how to set up for best results.

@@FClassJohn I blew mine off the bench one time and thats all it took. I bought a cheap tripod right after that which makes setup a piece of cake.

Just wired up my own recoil trigger and this makes the unit much more usable when using many different rifles i.e. air rifle, .22LR, suppressed centrefire. Plus if your on a crowded range it prevents your neighbour setting it off. My range has a baffle at 25m and when shooting at 50m having the unit on low power definitely makes a difference. Aiming it now seems to be the biggest challenge.
@Eric-qu3ht3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip of aiming at a cross angle. At 100 yard and in a relatively open/light structure range, I found that the most sensitive setting for me was how I position the unit in relation to the barrel. I used to position it too close, but at 12 to 16 inch from the barrel , it works very well for me. My main concern was the false triggers from other shooters in doppler mode. I just got the trigger sensor, which should eliminate that issue. Overall, I really like the labradar for good results and having nothing attached to rifle.

I guess I got lucky because mine has worked great from day one. Today I forgot my base when I went to the range. I just wedged it between a ammo can and a sand bag and it worked as it should. Bluetooth even works well after I did the Firmware upgrade that has been out for awhile.

I have found that while at indooor ranges using the low power gets better tracking results and almost eliminates loss projectile tracks. The inertia trigger is a must and should be standard equipment with the unit.

I recently purchased a labradar I've watched all your videos on how to set it up and using the sensor on the stock. I have that option turned on in the menu. I was out at our local gun range on Monday and beings I hadn't used it yet I thought I would try it out. I have Browning long range hunter model with the rubber coated stock at least that is what it feels like. I got it all set up put the sensor on the stock turned it made sure it was ready to readout fired a shot and nothing happened. I immediately switched to my magneto speed beings I was doing a load development. I purchased the same sensor you use but I don't know why it didn't work. I could switch to the dappled mode beings the bench I was shooting off of was one of the shorter ones and wouldn't have had good barrel alignment according to the instructions beings I didn't bring my other tripod. When I got home I tested the sensor and it would give the false reading so I know it worked. Do you have any suggestions.
@FClassJohn3 жыл бұрын
It's always hard to say without being there of course but typically aiming the Labrador or changing the aiming as you test until it reads can help. You can also make sure that the middle height of the Labrador is even with the barrel. That can help as well. Also make sure that other people aren't around on the same channel as you.

@@FClassJohn I was the only there with a labradar. I didn't try it on any other gun. The rest of the guns had a actual synthetic stock. With limited supply of products I don't usually load barrel fowling bullets.

Thank you for another great video. I have found if I'm on a lane/bench adjacent to one of the concrete risers for the baffles at the range I have problems. But CJ shot on the same position and didnt have any issues so I will try aiming more so I'm crossing like you recommend and see if that clears things up. The data has been eye opening.

Not really. Just let you adjust the intervals if you want to do stuff like calculate ballistic coefficient. I never use any of that.

Hi Steve, that's why I have also chosen the magnetospeed. I always works and is said to be as accurate as the labradar. For me the most important thing is to be able to measure accurately my velocities and to not depend on the conditions.
