► If you want to drive harder with more power for longer, you need to keep your engine cool. Excessive heat is the enemy of all things performance, and the turbocharger strapped to our 328si build is a significant source of all that's warm. Now, that's true for any turbocharged car, but our F30 is here to prove that it should be included in the approachable modern performance sedan conversation, and that starts with some high-temp help.
CSF is the undisputed leader in the aftermarket cooling system space. With decades as a supplier for motorsports teams and innovators with their proprietary B-Tube technology, their parts make for a worthwhile choice for anyone after more performance. Knowing that the original N20 turbocharger was destined for the dumpster in favor of one designed for IMSA competition, replacing the small and plastic-heavy OE intercooler with the larger, all-aluminum CSF equivalent was a no-brainer.

It's far more fun. Modern M cars are already too much power for the vast majority of people who own them. You can actually see those improvements on use them to the fullest on the track.

Oil pan baffle really does look like a quality piece! Much better than whats out there for BMWs anyway. Is this something you guys anticipate doing more of? Need to do one for n54.....

Amazing work on these projects especially this n20/f series rebuild. You should edit your titles to specify what project was being worked on and label episode numbers or series to have more order when looking for older videos in your feed.

Good idea - we actually made a playlist for this series specifically just the other day for that reason. We will look to update titles to sequentially call out episodes, we've seen that hit or miss in the past!

See I like the goal you have in mind not everything is balls to the wall, it's just whatever you tak on it a perfected and refinded part that doesn't stray to much away from the N20 flatform but also being considerably way better than anything bmw made from factory.

You don't need additional radiators, just upgrade the OFHG thermostat so it flows sooner. You can also change the radiator fan speed to sport.

The timing of this video is quite coincidental for me. I’ve been trying to figure out how to add the auxiliary radiator on my F30…except its a 335i / N55. It doesn’t seem as simple as it is for the N20…any insight on how this can be done? I was trying to avoid adding the auxiliary water pump and heat exchanger as wiring up the auxiliary coolant pump seems like a path I don’t want to go down.

Just a heads up, if you really start to lean on it, the GFB unit leaks above 330whp or so. You’ll need to run e85 on this turbo to do so. Thus the Turbosmart unit is the way to go these days Please add it to your catalog FCP Euro !

Love to see and follow this build! Justifies and inspires keeping my N20 powered touring. But just curious, why go for the si build on an N20 328i vs a F30 B48 330i?

There is no such simple oil pan baffle for the manual 135i N55 E82 cars right? I've looked a few months ago & an expensive S55 pan upgrade was the only thing I found.

Same here man, S55 oil is not plug&play unfortunately, VAC baffle helps some but not 100% fix and also not that easy too install

I just wonder about the n20 cooling temperature. Is it okay that most of them have about 110 degrees celsius? I read a few debates in the comments, where one side says its ok, other - it needs to program to strictly keep 90*

We have extensively tracked this car since finishing it - and had no issues arise. What the engine is happiest with long term - is where the debate can exist, but so far since all these upgrades our N20 has been plenty happy.
