Good diy for the most part, however the oil pump removal and installation seems like it was filmed and done in a rush. “Be methodical with your movements” doesn’t really mean anything and when tightening how was the sprocket locked? Mine just loses tension if I try and tighten it.

Coming from just getting that sprocket back on and YES It was definitely way way way harder than it looks and I celebrated the same way when I got mine on 😂

What a job. Good to know my N55 will be ok considering how much I baby the maintenance and always let it warm up before I get on it. I never really drive it fast like a lot of people do so I am sure I will get many more years of enjoyment out of it. :)

You need to look up sport plus. If you keep it in auto you’re never going to push it past what it’s designed to do so don’t worry - they have a lot of room to stretch its legs past factory settings.

I have an n55 motor(m235i) and due to change my bearings, been told its good to upgrade the oil pump to m4/m3 pump, is there any massive diffrance between them two?
@robinw9445 ай бұрын
yes of course its a completely other system with a sucking pump, but why would you want to do this if you dont track the car or drive it really hard with donuts and drifts?
@Sipho-Msayi10 ай бұрын
Thanks again for another great video, if the bearing clearance is outside the tolerance then what would be done?
@Simple_Youtube9 ай бұрын
You would need to buy an oversized or undersized bearing to make up the difference.

Can you leak check the oil pan before putting everything back together? Can you leak check it by priming the engine?
@crowdsfavorite46603 ай бұрын
So when rod bearings are done does it require re timing of the engine? Or will the engine hold time through the procedure
@djferguson78264 ай бұрын
what is the concern about rotating the oil pump? or is it just moving the sprocket (when not changing the oil pump chain guide) that is the concern? Also, which ACL bearings did you use?

My 2012 335i F30 has 385,000km, what do you think the oil pump will be like? Should I replace it?

hi FCP Euro, I look/read on the list of the car model on the description it looks like this rod bearing kit is not suited for F30 n55 335i, unlike the title says??? thanks
@fcpeuro4 ай бұрын
Although the process for the installation is almost identical, it has different subframe bolts and a few other small variations. That said we can try to build you a kit specific for your car, and have it available in the next day or so! Let us know if you'd like that.

what do i do if my clearance is not okay? do i first have to measure the clearance and then order the bearings and then use different ones depending on the clearance or is my engine fried if one is out of this range?
@AbbeyRoad69147Ай бұрын
I think they are fried either way. Rather leave your bearings as-is and do this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJi1Y2BopsZnjJY

Also wanted to mention during the oil pump install it’s stated “10nm and 180 degrees for all the oil pump to bed plate bolts” ,but everyone else’s diy says only the long bolt get 180 degrees and the rest get 90. Did I just mess up my install by following this?
@puresyre20515 ай бұрын
Welll I mean if they’re all 10nm an 180 degree rotation for all of them really shouldn’t be that bad considering it’s not even that tight , but idk I’m not a tech …lmk if you found any answers
@Use2FACTAUTH5 ай бұрын
@@puresyre2051 well I saw another video where they broke just with the specified torque, mine has been in for about 5k miles now with no issues, I boroscoped the oil pan and all bolts are still in tact and in there so I’ll just let it be. my master tech also said as long as the didn’t snap on install they’ll be alright
@justinp299310 ай бұрын
One small note, tangs on bearings are for locating them not for retaining them rotationally speaking. I was a little surprised as I though they served both purposes but that is straight off the information included in a set of King bearings produced in the last few months.
