You'll want to use synthetic brake grease for the sliding bolts.

Volvo says you must replace those M10 bolts as they are torque-to-yield. Volvo front pads always come with new bolts.

Are you supposed to use a specific grease for the sliding bolts, or will caliper grease be fine?

Hi, I have a 1988 740 GLE. I'm not sure if I need the 10.25" or 11.25" front rotors. How can I tell?
@fcpeuro9 жыл бұрын
Nicola White The easiest way is just to measure through your wheel, a full inch difference is generally pretty easy to see. Hope that helps.

FCP Euro thanks that makes sense. I did so and got my answer. 10.25 it is!

What about the brake fluid? If you remove the line from the caliper, doesn't the fluid leak out? Was the fluid removed first somehow?
@fcpeuro8 жыл бұрын
Hello John, brake fluid will leak out once the brake line is removed. It looks like the fluid was drained out during the install.

I can't get the metal clip things on the pads to line up with the holes on the calipers, could you think of any reason why that would be?
@jasonvangorden12659 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't have any issues with them, I would double check that they are aligned correctly.
@alistairgeorge39769 жыл бұрын
+Jason Van Gorden I did just that, I had to bend the spring things a little to get them to fit but all is good now

Nicely done- not to be a stickler but there is no way to inspect those rubber brake lines when they have stainless wire over them- the stainless just stops them from bulging too much when the rubber is bad. Technically, Federal law in the US says the rubber lines must have correct markings and NOT be covered or obscured so this style line is not legal to use on any US motor vehicle. Also, because the line can NOT be inspected- it would be prudent to replace it with a DOT approved (legal) style. I've had way to many stainless clad lines leak and blow... and in this application it can be a big problem-- worse, if you have an accident and the insurance company faults your illegal equipment for it- and they will try to do so.
