I was browsing the FCS data page and seems like many fin sets really use the same template as the performers for their quads. In the Superbranded the large set has the same template, but the medium size has more rake than the performers. The AM fins use the same template but one size smaller (the large AM fins use the same as the medium performer as a quad rear).

daniel vb yeah for sure mate. They definitely use a core range and make some changes to graphics materials as foil and sometimes shape too but there are certainly a lot that are heavily based around each other .. the quads in most sets are a performer medium. Helps to know the chart a bit so your not buying another fin that's just the same with a different print if you don't need it. In saying that some of the subtle differences in materials flex shape etc do allow you to fine tune the feel of your board within a similar / same family template. There is a slight difference in flex between neo, pc, PC carbon and glass etc.

Would medium reactor rears work well with Large Reactor front fins? Ive also got the AM 2 + 1 fins so I could use those as the front 2 fins aswell. Would be for tiny groveller waves, anything bigger and I go thruster. Thanks!

So the AM Twin and Trailer I use those in my Bean bag but with 2 x Trailers those go great in that. Could be combined with any 2 small trailers too. Yeah most Large front fins would combo up with meduim rear quads or even large rear quads. I'm assuming that Meduim rear quads are what you mean when you say Mediums and not the actual Medium side fins those would be significantly bigger than rear quads. i.e. Medium front fins and medium rear quads are 2 completerly different fin templates, just double checking you understand that sorry.

@@lawson45uk ah that's good to know, I never even thought about using to trailer fins... genius. Yes I meant 2 medium quad rear specific find. With the reactors you can only buy medium not large that's why. Cheers for the info!

Just a heads up that quad rears usually have cant (angle) toward the rails. So using zero cant (vertical) trailers from a thruster or 2+1 set as quad rears might not turn as smoothly

If you'd have to combine what you have, how you think the Reactor fronts would work with the Performer rears on a groveller?

Should be ok would personally go the other way round given a choice or all reactor or all performer but it's definitely not the end of the world. Reactors are more upright so pivot more easily, performers have a little more rake so more grip and a little rounder turns. The rector rear quads are the same template as a split keel and they work fine with a big raked front in that set up. Other way round you have slightly loose fins at the front than the back. I assume you talking about fronts and rear quads not just putting fronts in the back and fronts in the front if that makes sense. The performer meduim rear quad is the template that virtually all 5 fin sets come with if that helps so there always going to be fine in combination with most other fins. Hope that helps and not just confusing. My favorites for grovell boards are split keels for biggest great speed but a little tracky for smaller riders, then something like an SF4 then you could go Accellerator I personally want lots of drive out of fins for my grovel boards. can i use the quad rear performer on my twin fin? seems like it would work i think?

I'm guessing you mean as a trailer in the back box? You sort of can but they are an 80/20 foil the carvers are a 50/50. If you mean as side fins you definitely can but they would be pretty small. Hope that makes sense. I'm fairly sure all the fins fit all the boxes on FCS but might have heard somewhere not to use side fins and rear fins. Probably just because of the foils.

Sorry that was probably hard to read. If your twin is just a twin you can definitely use rear quads as front fins and front fins as rear quads. Only really gets tricky with using quad rear as back fins as most are 80/20 foiled so designed to be out on the rail for a specific side. Completely different with Futures though as they have the can't built into the fin rather than the box and the fronts Vs rears have different box designs.

Hi I’ve got the rear carver quad fins in my Lost smooth operator with a single fin. If I wanted to try the board as a quad what front fins would you suggest? Is it possible to use say the performer front fins with carver rears?

Hi.. So you are using the carver rear quad as a side bite?? Is that the meduim sized with a 50/50 foil or the small ones that are designed to be a side bite? Usually side bites are flat or 80/20 foil if you use a rear quad.. Just the Carver rear quads are 50/50 foil.. That comment is only relative to using them with a single fin. As for quads yeah you can use something like a carver rear quad with performer sides. the Carver is just more swept back and 50/50 foil where the performer rear quad would be a little more upright and 80/20 foil which would be a slightly better match with the performer but really not the end of the world. Definitely try what you have or can borrow before you go splashing out on anything you might not need I would say. Cheers.

@@simonhunt7798 ok so if they are flat foils I think that would make them a small quad rear. You probably want a medium quad rear really. That’s what comes with most 5 fin sets. It’s usually a medium rear quad performer that comes with about 75% of all quad sets I think. Cheers.
