Today we tackle on some of the best ways you can maximize your students efficiency in terms of proficiency. However if you just want to beat the game fast, just make them all a wyvern knight and call it a day.

FF18Cloud mages aren’t that fast for the most part in this game so they’re really not cut out for trying to go physical units. Unless your names Lorenz you’re best not wasting your time making mages non mage classes.

Flying horses and lizard horses are good but all riding classes suck except bow knight. Dark Knight is exclusive for Hubert(maybe also Hanneman?) and Holy Knight...why does this class even exist?

@@jonathandwilliams2885 Lys with A+ reason magic and Thyrsus is just ridiculous. Nukes everything before it can come close enough to take advantage of the fact that she can't take a hit and if you do mess up by putting her in harms way, the staff might just end up saving her anyway.

@@Silvitewolf Meteor doesn't have enough uses to be a major advantage and once Lysithea has Thyrsus, she has all the range you need. Dorothea might have a slight edge in early game due to Thoron and being a decent off-healer, but Lysithea catches up quick. The only one that comes close to her is Hubert with Lifetaker, because he's far more durable than her and isn't far behind when it comes to power.

One thing to note about Master Classes; they aren’t the end all be all. Swordmaster is better than Mortal Savant. You get more avoid and Astra while having bomb ass growths. The only utility he gets from Savant is the ability to cast Thoron, but you should leave poking enemies to Ashe. And a Levin Sword+ grants you 3 range. That and since you focus only on swords, Felix will get S+ in them, granting him +10 to Mt and + 10 to crit. And Holy Knight is ass for healers. You lose heal +10 and the doubled healing uses. You’re better off keeping Mercedes as a Bishop and using a dancer to keep her movement up. Trust me, Physic and 4 Fortifys makes up for the 4 mov

Survivor Last I'd say that's just him being able to double units with low res, Sylvain is so strong he would probably be able to one round them with lances (especially the lance of ruin and brave lance.) It isn't bad for him to be dark knight though, i had him as that in my first playthrough,

Made my Felix a Mortal Savant the first run. An assassin every following run. Reason: Most things tend to die before he even reaches them (the only exceptions are monsters or in maps where the party start split up like that futuristic map). I'd rather he be weaker than 'usually completely useless'

Felix surprisingly makes a decent dancer while still being pretty good offense wise and its pretty fun getting earlier access to his magic as he is a crit machine

Imo you never want to make your dancer involved in combat. Their sole role is to give other (and better) units a second turn. It wouldn’t make sense to make one of the best units a dancer because that essentially eliminates the possibility of them getting a second turn

@@mx4159 I'd say for people that don't find dancers useful for their playstyle, Felix is a good option as while even though those people wouldn't be dancing with him, Sword Avoid and Sword Dance would be pretty nice on him. Though under that lens, Dimitri is honestly a much better option as he has the best Charm stat out of the Blue Lions and would probably destroy with Sword Dance.

Dimitri can become the best dodge tank with a build I made Post timeskip gives him +20 Avo at full Hp Dancer gives a sword avo which gives +20 Avo using a sword Maxed out sword prof gives another +20 Avo Maxed out flying gives +30 Avo when waiting Wyvern Lord give him an additional +10 Avo as a class ability Dancer also gives him a +20avo combat art so in total 70 avoid with sword 90 with dancer combat art 100 when waiting with sword Crazy stuff

That build certainly sounds good, but my favorite in the game by far is the Ingrid F.K. build. On my maddening BL run, I gave her sword prowess level 5, Alert Stance Plus, Avo +10 from the F.K. class ability, and her base speed can be increased with special dance. I'm currently in the midgame of my maddening run, and she already has over 100 Avoid. It's hilarious to see the maddening Snipers with 145 hit have a 10 percent chance to hit her from two tiles away.

The GD route for me is going a little slow, so I'm only doing my second run as a NG+ file with Hard Classic mode enabled and I'm having a bit of a struggle putting who's classes/promotions for my second run so I'm gladly waiting for the GD recommendations

I raised Annette's Axe proficiency to A....so she could use a Bolt Axe. Redundant...but worth it.

Lissa She started as a Mage when i wasn’t sure what to do with her but then she went from Armored Knight to Fortress Knight and then Great Knight It wasnt really a standard i path tho cuz i had her learn magic classes on her way up So her resistance stayed really solid

If I see that a unit like Felix who has a high speed growth is getting screwed early on, I would just jump into Myrm -> Swordmaster/Assassin and then move onto something else when I feel comfortable with the speed that i have. Theres no need to force promotions in this game, since growths are additive.

@@tactless2061 you lack a good dancer in the blue lions route, so I specifically chose Dorothea over Lysithea because she's better in that role. If you turned Annette into your dancer or you just don't want a dancer Lysithea is 100% the better pick up. I thought I mentioned it in the video or I cut that audio out by accident.

Great video just like your Black Eagles guide! I would like to point out that picking up Death/Darting/Fiendish Blow abilities from the Brigand/Peg Knight/Mage class masteries is worth it every time. Death Blow in particular is outstanding for anyone using Brawling weapons because It's essentially +12 or +24 dmg because every weapon has a brave effect. I personally managed to get Edelgard to Wyvern Lord with Death and Darting Blow. Combined with her axe Aymyr it's disgusting.

Wyvern Lord Dimitri is critically underrated here. The class itself is extremely broken in the game due to the flexibility of flight that when combined with Dimitri’s high Str, Spd, and Def, it makes him a monster. The Avoid +10 class skill also stacks with +20% avoid of his Personal Skill +, and with the +30% of Alert Stance +, Avoid given by Weapon Prowess skills, and with his naturally high Avoid due to his high speed. Even when the enemy does hit him, his defense is so high, he won’t take much damage. Also for Felix: Noble->Fighter->Thief/Mercenary/Brigand->Assassin->(Swordmaster)->Bow Knight is a strong option due to his proficiency in bows and the strength of having a mount. His spell list isn’t fantastic and the perks of going mortal savant can be made up for with a Levin Sword if you really need it

@@chilipowderkeg1160 I've found that if the character has strength growth equal to or higher than their mag growth, they can do any physical class. This is because they probably also have respectable defense growths. Mages are more restricted since they always have bad strength and defense growths, can't really do Hubert Fortress or Lysithea Fortress because they have such specialized growths.

I've only just started my Blue Lions run yesterday, thought I'd watch to see how my initial plan compares to this one. Here's what I am/was considering: Dimitri - yeah, we match. I'm specifically doing that first path you suggested. Dedue - I'm not planning to actively use him in this run, so that's whatever. Annette - I'm planning on the warlock path to gremory. Ashe - I'm actually not planning to master class him at all. I had a really good experience in my Golden Deer run with Ignatz as an assassin with a Wo Dao and a silver bow+, so I'm thinking of trying to recreate that with him in the Blue Lions. (also, my Byleth is going Bow Knight this time, so I don't want to double up) Felix - glad to see my mortal savant instinct was correct. I'll probably do the swordmaster path to that. Ingrid - was planning to make her my dancer, but literally everyone is saying she's awesome as a pegasus/falcon knight, so I guess I'll do that and see what the big deal is. Mercedes - I'm actually doing that holy knight build for her - I spent the back half of my last playthrough grinding her riding and lance so I could start off better in those with my NG+, excited to see how that turns out. Sylvain: not sure which path I'll take yet, but he's definitely gonna be a dark knight.

Covered everything. Nice. Even read the pinned comment as well. Maybe just make it clear that the C axes for Annette is for Bolt Axe as a backup magic option. Dedue can always swap out Brigand for Merc for vantage to go alongside wrath which he will always make use of when he gets war master. Even if you don't commit to a flying class, death blow is always amazing as a pickup. And remember, if you don't want a dancer, pick up sword avoid +20 for your best evade tanks. Also Jay, I know your trying to colour co-ordinate with you graphics but a black stroke over the white text will help easing the eye strain. Not much else from me. Good day sir.

I had great success with Raphael in my golden dear playthrough with a certain build order that I think would work really good with Dedue as well. It's Commoner -> Myrmidon -> Mercenary -> Warrior -> Hero -> Warmaster. Hero is mainly just for the speed boost: it's not actually necessary to master it. This gives him access to the deadly Vantage+Wrath combo and rescues his otherwise bad speed, while his naturally high growths in strength and defense take care of themselves. Basically, get him to C-swords early and then hard switch to axes and while working on Brawling on the side and (eventually) get high enough to get Warmaster unlocked. You can choose from there whether to keep working on or ignore Brawling. Final skill build: Axe Prowess 5, Vantage, Wrath, Axe Crit +10, (whatever else you want). Give him a short axe/tomahawk, and watch him murder everything on enemy phase. It's pretty dope. Just watch out for mages.

I have a feeling that a lot people don’t really think about making Sylvian a Hero, but he can really become a “jack-of-all-trades” when it comes to the weapon triangle. All I really did was just stick to the myrm/mercenary route which gives him good speed (usually always attacking twice and dodging, even when counterattacking) while also making sure to increase his other weapon stats, with a proficiency on lances and access to the lance of ruin, it’s not really something to be worried about, and he also has proficiency in axes which is pretty neat. Lastly, giving him an armorslayer allows him to find the cure to cancer.

Felix is so amazing that I’ve maxed out all the classes he needs for mortal savant long before I needed him to...so I made him an archer and a priest and he maxed them out as well (then as mortal savant he could literally kill you with 4 different abilities).

*Really* should mention Annette's relic weapon, the Crusher- a magic hammer that can serve her really freaking well as a dark knight- you barely mention it, but it's insanely strong, and scales off her Magic, instead of strength- i'd say worth pulling her axe skill up enough to make use of- definitely.

I gave dedue a bow and took him through fighter->brigand->archer->fortress knight-> Sniper and i gave him the shoes of wind. If you add a few defense stat boosts he has a ton of def even in sniper. His speed isn't great but early game he will one shot with his high strength and later game there are plenty doubling bows. He can also double Armour knights and with his strength he can kill them without effectiveness. He also has hunter's volley as another option for raising his damage.

That was my bad. I built these assets on my PC which is a different screen type, where it's easier to read. I didn't take into account what other people would be using. When I compile all of these into an imgur album i'm going to be tweeking the colors.

Sylvain also makes a phenomenal Wyvern Rider/Lord if you're up for raising his flying skill, which honestly wasn't that tough with goals, instruction and the flying assignment. He turned out to be the MVP of my Blue Lions playthrough.

In my first playthrough I had felix do the typical myrm route, but in my second playthrough I am currently going the dark seal class route and it's both hilarious and fun. Totally tanks his strength growths but he's the second best mage in my line up.

You’re right; strength based Axe Annette isn’t worth it. However, getting her to B axes lets her use Bolt Axes, the relic Crusher, and Lightning Axe, a combat art. Lightning Axe on a refined Silver Axe gives her three incredibly high night options for melting with Axes, and Lightning Axes is unlocked at C+ for her, so I’d say it’s worth investing in Axes for her, just don’t stray from her actual Magic classes to do so.

JaeAIK I'd argue Barabossa is the best class since Bows are generally better then Axes. Wyvern Lord and Falcon knight are pretty much identical, just depends on if you prefer slightly better class boosts with Wyvern lord, or Better overall Growths with Falcon Knight.

I went through the task of making Dedue a wyvern rider and it was well worthit (and not all that hard since you can just get the 1.5x boost after he gets to the next rank for the promotion in axes and you have the group tasks to use as well.) Went into Armor knight for Intermediete to boost his defense growth and he became a mobile Wyvern lord at end game with 53 Prt I also like to make Ashe's intermediate class the the brigand, so he can get Death blow and a higher strength growth rate for the 10 levels before going into Sniper. Gets rid of his str problems without sacrificing speed through the mounted classes, and allows a 4 range beast. c axes for Brigand isn't too demanding to reach with his proficiency anyway. Also sometimes i feel it's better to leave people in Advanced classes, such as leaving Sylvain in Paladin for Lance faire, or Ignatz as Assasin to keep proficiency in Bows and keep the speed growth over Mortal Savant.

I'm pretty much set on keeping Felix as Assassin because I mortal savant doesn't add much to Felix besides magic but his magic isn't high and he could use the Levin sword instead. I also don't like losing 30% SPD growth going from assassin to mortal savant

My Mortal Savant Felix was supremely useful to me, as he got critical hits very often due to Thunder and Thoron’s high crit and his Black Magic crit +10 skill. I used his magic more than his swords. The Levin Sword becomes a less accurate Thoron. I also like Mortal Savant Ignatz, because Blizzard is amazing, and the same with Ingrid and the Holy Knight class which gets Physic, Seraphim, Blizzard, and Thoron.

I think you underestimate how much destruction he can rain upon his enemies even with his low mag. He will always double, and most of the time at least one of those two hits will crit. And that's IF two hits isn't enough, which it usually is. Since spells are self replenishing it saves sword uses. Plus Thoron can counter snipers without having to forge a Levin Sword, when arcane crystals are hard to come by until much later in the game.

Thoron's high range combined with Felix' crit rate is very useful though for taking out low-res enemies and since he is not as squishy as most magic units he will be able to take a hit or two on enemy phase opposed to best offensive BL magic unit Annette. Annette gets the same range for all her spells with that item the name of which I forgot, but if she gets attacked by a physical enemy unit she pretty much just dies. By the time you get Felix to mortal savant he should already have high enough spd (and str) that losing 30% in spd growth shouldn't matter that much.

His base spd growth is already the second highest in the game. The massive head start he got from being in speedy classes beforehand is not something he's likely to lose before the endgame. And I suppose you can add to that... You can class change at will in this game.

Honestly I recomend with felix to stick to sword master and if you want range options level bows, dont go into mortal savant. I kept Felix as a sword master the hole game, gave him the dancer ability that grants 20 avoid and he was an absolute beast, probably my most reliable melee unit.

One thing for felix... his crest procs a lot. When you quad its not uncommon for 10-20 extra damage and if he crits... boom.

Currently using Annette in my silver snow run, have her as a warlock and she's honestly great without needing gremory. Focusing purely on reason lets her get black magic range +1 shortly after timeskip which when paired with either Thyrsus or cadeceus staff ensures she's destroying anything without needing to take counter attacks, even from archers. That being said i am playing on normal difficulty since this is my first Fe game, so she might be better in gremory in higher difficulties

I need to ask a clarification: let's say someone "overlevels" in-between chances to unlock an intermediate class and find himself able to skip to the next step directly (i.e. cavalier from noble without going through soldier)... Is there any reason the intermediate class should be unlocked anyway?

My first playthrough is Blue Lions and I'm having a blast. This game has exceeded all my expectations. I decided to make Dimitri, Sylvain and Ashe all bow knights. It's working great since all 3 can use Lance and bows well. But honestly I just end up keeping great Lord for Dimitri whenever he doesn't need the paladin extra movement. Mercedes and Annette are both gremory for me because Dorothea became my dancer. On new game plus, I might actually consider making Annette the dancer instead. But physic on Dorothea is just so hard to pass up; Dorothea is an excellent support recruit option that sometimes I feel like Annette gets overlooked because Mercedes and Dorothea can do the support role better. But Annette is a great mage with excellent rally support skills. Falcon knight Ingrid and war master Dedue just felt so natural and easy to set up. Practically free lol. But Felix was my only true problem child; I had to decide early on what to do with him since swords get shafted in master classes. He's a great swordmaster, hero and assassin in advanced classes. But if you want the master class then he needs to focus early on if he's going to meet the skill requirements. Eventually I settled for fighter, brigand, wyvern Felix. But I could see bow knight working especially well instead as the final class because Felix hits like a truck with death blow + long range bows. He's a monster lol

My Ashe was all over the place when it came to classes. I mastered the Brigand and Wyvern Rider for him, but stopped short of making him a Wyvern Lord and made him a Sniper instead. This turned out well because Death Blow increased his kill potential while Seal Defense solidified his role as a backline unit, making it easier for other units to finish off enemies that he couldn't kill.

with ashe, ive had great results with the archer path, and after mastering sniper, switch to swordmaster. something about the archer/sniper growths makes him dodge tank and crit alot if you put him in swordmaster after. Then you could go bow night after that and be a nomidic trueblade basically.

I think one class route for Felix that really worked for me was the dark seal route; Noble > Myrmidon > Thief (To steal first seal) > Dark Mage > Dark Bishop > Mortal Savant. The poison strike isn't really necessary, but the life steal from dark bishop helps him on front line situations a lot. This utilizes his budding talent much more as well.

Personally Ingrid started to fall behind when I was running her on my first hard run on BL she became kida useless pretty early on and I ended making her into a dancer which made infinitely more useful for me

Traveling Fox You should train Ingrid with axe as well to get her into wyvern rider class for strength after level 20 and before she gets to level 30. If you are on BL you should save your strength boost items for Ashe and Ingrid(if she gets RNG screwed).

I'm not a fan of turning my healers into Dancers. I like having many uses of healing spells so I value gremory > dancer in the case of Mercedes. But realistically if your struggling to choose a dancer, just make it your worst performing member.

For Dedue, I went fighter -> armor knight -> fortress knight -> war master. I figured I'd grab the weight abilities, and early on, once I got B axes and armor, it was very easy to shift goals and teaching to get A brawling and axes in time for war master.

I made Felix a war master on my BL playthrough. Near the end of the game he was able to one-shot most units with an axe (with a little help from Annette he was able to reach +85 attack) and was able to always strike first when battalion vantage was active (I gave him the battalion Dimitri gets for free).

Dedue's nature as a tank tends to let him max out classes faster than other units, since every time someone pokes him he gets advancement. I find that it's not hard to get both Armored Knight AND Brigand maxed naturally before 20, and even both Warrior and Fortress Knight before hitting 30 and going Warmaster

I think this is not the greatest advice. You put a lot of emphasis in class modifiers, assume that everyone has to get to a new tier whenever they can (ex.: Making Ingrid promote to Paladin from Pegasus Knight instead of remaining as she is until lv. 30), ignoring things like class skills and such when advising certain paths, etc. Not a bad video, but I feel it's a bit misleading.

Close counter is acquired at bow level C It's the same with healing focus which is acquired at B level of brawling You can get any of those two skills without having to pick a particular line of classes to get them. because of that I personally give basically all of my entire team for any run through a b level in brawling so that they can heal themselves

One thing I tried that seemed to work well with Ingrid is go down the Falcon Knight path but go for assassin for the advanced class for lethality and to help grind for sword, and the bow requirement wasn’t too hard to get. She made a pretty good assassin too though and I was almost tempted to keep her down a sword path after that

Fire Emblem 3 Houses really needs to have more classes. So many advanced classes feel like dead ends and so many master classes require you to master skills that intermediate and advanced classes can't practice. For example, a Dark Knight certification expects you to have mastery of riding and reason, there are no intermediate or advanced classes that can ride a horse and cast spells. Is having the Troubadour class somewhere really too much to ask for?

I made Mercedes a Bow Knight. She had an MVP or two early on as I forced myself to use her, gave her +3 strength through stat-boosters and suddenly her strength growth forgot it was only 20% and skyrocketed to 30. Mercedes became my most common MVP leading into the time skip, and leading all through the rest of the route. RNG is often a problem... But damnit I love it sometimes.

I'm still very pro flier-squad (appreciate that detail in the description) but if we're taking a mixed approach, there's a few recommendations/alternatives I'd like to share; Let Dedue go through the brawler line if making him a war master. It gives him an additional 10% growth rate in speed on top of his natural 20% rate. It won't make his speed amazing, but it helps prevent him to get doubled by key opponents like certain mages and silver axe warriors, which have moderate AS and ways to bypass his defence. Every point of speed Dedue gets improves his survivability and function as a tank. For Ingrid, Movement+ is nice, but it takes a lot of limited skill exp (though feel free to correct me if normal mode is less stingy.) While getting some riding skills on a new game+ is great, staying as a Pegasus Knight is viable too if you want to work towards high-end sword or flying rank skills. Alternatively, Wyvern Rider organically raises flying ranks and gets seal defence, which helps allies take out beefy targets like monsters (+6 damage per hit with gauntlets or brave weapons is insane.) Aegis, in contrast, is unreliable and dismount takes care of the arrow weakness anyway. You can still have her end in Falcoknight even if you mix in a little wyvern flavour, as her relic appreciates lancefaire. Sylvain is viable to stay in paladin, because you lose a point of movement as a dark knight. Access to magic can be useful, especially since Sylvain gets Ragnarok to make up for his lacking magic stats as well as physic for utility, but putting those points towards an axe proficiency helps him tear through pesky generals with maces instead of magic and that is far more useful in the early and midgame. Felix is totally viable to stay in Assassin as well, as he maintains 6 movement, gets chest/steal utility, and uses his talent in bows well against the most annoying enemies in the game (falcoknights.) Because his relic weighs him down by a whopping 6 points, the extra speed growth (20% versus negative 10%) comes in useful against faster opponents like swordmasters and falcoknights. Similarly to Sylvain and maces, Felix has access to armourslayers and even the 3-range levin sword+ to deal with generals. Also, longbow has more uses than Thoron, so there's that. All that aside though, I like the way you visualise the skills and numbers. It really adds to the video.

I personally think Normal mode is less stingy; with that you can just class them into a particular class and then just throw them into those free battles over, and over, and over again, until they get a rank that you’re okay about. With Sylvain, there’s always just giving him a Mace and leaving him to it; sure Cav/Paladin makes levelling it up slightly less efficient, but Maces are E rank and pretty accurate (100 base accuracy), so just going hog-wild on the Maces for everybody should work out just fine.
