FE6 - Most painful attack in FE History

Okay, you know that shaman chick you get in the Nabata desert? Sophia? She's terrible, right? Wrong.
It was a literal bitch to train her. She died nearly every 10 battles in the arena.
BUT DAMN, SON, DOES SHE GET GOOD.
her stat gains are amazing once she hits Druid, maxing FOUR of her stats. (She has max HP because I gave her some angelic robes). This video or character is NOT hacked. This is legitimate game footage.
As the title suggests, Sophia unleashes the most painful attack in Fire Emblem I've ever witnessed. A whopping 216 damage with a critical from Apocalypse.

@@gypsysprite4824 lets's see, Cecilia has good anima rank, good staff rank, decent enough bases do to her Job as a frontline staffbot and a mount, Marcus might be bad in the mid-late game but his early game utility more then makes up for that and also has a mount, Bors can tank some units in the early game and Barth can promote after a single level up and has decent bases. Gwendolyn is definitely horrible and the second worst unit in the but atleast she has good availability. Sophia has terrible bases, all of her growths exept for magic and resistance are average to garbage, she get's weighed down by the flux tome which has the lowest Weight out of all the dark tomes, has a C rank in dark magic and get's one shotted by some enemies on normal mode. Add to that the fact that Nimme exists (yeah, yeah pitfall hahaha), who has better bases and A in both dark magic and staves, there is no need for a unit like Sophia who out of 10 times you want to train her will die 9 times. She isn't the worst unit ever and is a lot of fun to use if you're a bit carefull but calling units like Cecilia, a mounted staffbot with the ability to use Aircalibur at base, or Marcus, a Paladin who is the reason why people can even finish chapter 7 on hard mode with minimal resets and who does his job a a jeigen perfectly, worst then a unit who can only be credited with giving the second guiding ring you get. A good contribution and one that has a lasting impact as this can be used to get an extra staffbot who can protect themselves but not one that makes her any better as a unit

@@nicolaspendragon3582 1: i did say for marcus "anwhere past the early game". in short, you will drop marcus the microsecond you get percival, at the most, and probably alot earlier 2:yeah cecillia can be a decent staffbot who can actually defend themself, but are you really going to use her over any of unpremoted healers (if your using them), seeing as they are pretty much about to hit premotion level (asuming you early level your healers for obvious reason). also she might as well not exist in her starting chapter because, well, horse in the literal worst desert.

and when I mean "accuracy > power" it's the fact that Ray can actually hit all the mages in CH14 easily and possibly doubling them, whilst Sophia struggling to do so, in fact since Ray come in 2 or 3 chapters earlier (depending if you took the gaiden chapter) he has tons of tons of enemies to grow, his con is even higher and his BASE STATS at his join time are higher, not to mention that Ray has a higher level and joins wayyyy earlier and can be promoted on the get go. Yeah sure Sophia can get stronger late game... but when? When Roy is finally promoted and the entire team will kill the dragons anyway, much worse this "late-game" viability requires 300 turns of arena grinding in CH17 non? I'm no LTCer but Arena is boring and ruins the fun. This also came from someone who isnt biased with Ray (I Prefer Canas or even his mother over him) I just took him as an example because if I compare Sophia with Niime you'll pull more bullshit off the table.

If you use 4 power rings on Niime, get her dark magic to S rank, and max her supports with Yodel/Fae/Hugh, she can attack a 2RES wyvern knight the chapter before and get 273 damage (91*3) This is the highest amount of damage you can do in the GBA games as far as I am aware.

People are arguing a lot in this comment section about wether or not sophia is bad, and I see this as the perfect chance to finally write a wall of text explaining why is sophia one of the worst units in FE6 Why is sophia bad? Part 1: What is bad? Bad can mean a lot of things for different people; in this text, I will use 3 defining factors of why sophia is a bad unit: -Availability -Growths -Bases I will also make and extra part regarding usefulness, or rather, the usefulness of black magic Part 2: Availability Sophia is recruited in chapter 14, considered mid-game, which isn't that bad, however,there are 3 things that make this factor bad: 2.1: Ray exists, and can be recruited 2 chapters earlier (3 if we count 12x), which doesn't sound like much, but take in mind that in chapter 13 there is arena, and that means that you can arena grind Raigh, that means bad news for sophias availabilty and utility. 2.2: The chapter when you get sophia, is a desert chapter, that really doesn't affect sophia directly, but is also fog of war, and that means that sophia can be killed by an enemy if you leave her alone, that isn't really bad, you can take a few more turns to beat the chapter to make sure she is safe, except there is an extra chapter that you can't access if you take more than 25 turns, that is bad. 2.3: The enemies in this game are getting stronger and that means that new units may have to get special attention if they want to be useful, this factor affects sophia and is directly related to the next 2 parts. Part 3: Growths This should be the good point of sophia, after all, she can be considered an est archetype, but in reality, they are barely above average, with good res (55) and mag(55), decent health(60), but mediocre (40 skl) or bad everything else(30 spd, 20 lck and def), normal distribution for a shaman, but let's look at Raigh, with better spd(40), skl(55), around the same mag(45), and lower res(35), raigh has the potencial to avoid double attacks more frequently, actually hit attacks with around the same magic, in exchange of tanking less magic dmg. So, sophia doesn't have the best growths, but ests are supposed to be like this, just good growths on some stats, no need to get ridiculous, right? Wrong, look at Est (FE1), with her stupid 70 on everything except def (20) and res(0, like every unit) or look at Nino (FE7), another really popular est, with around 50~60 on everything except def (15), maybe even Donnel (F13, debatable if he is an est or not, comes early-game) with a skill that increases growths by 20, added to his natural growths almost makes it a +1 on all stats every level up. Est's can get ridiculous, and Sophia isn't, that's bad Part 4: Bases The most defining factor (for me) of why Sophia is bad, her complete, absolute garbage bases, why are they garbage? Let's look at them, oh, the only stats above 5 are mag and res, and look at her con of 3! She is slowed down by flux tomes! This is already pretty bad, but to make it worse, let's look at Ray again. Look at those way better bases almost *twice* as good. "Est's are supposed to have bad stats!" Yes they do, but look at Est (FE1), she has really bad bases when she appears, but at least she can fight something, and keep in mind, the stat cap for everything in this game is 20, so it isn't that bad. Look at Nino, with really "good" bases for a level 5 mage (end-game,but still), meanwhile, Sophia has bases so bad that even in chapter 1 she would have trouble killing enemies, and in her chapter, enemies are already promoting! Part extra: Black magic Black magic in this game isn't really that good, good might doesn't mean anything if you can't consistently hit, it's heavy ,users have a hard time doubling, and unlike future games, there is only one gimmick book, being nosferatu, (I guess eclipse can count, but there is also bolting so it isn't as special) Part 5: Conclusion Sophia is a bad character, with not really that good growths, really bad bases, poor availability and she is stuck with mediocre tomes Does that mean that you shouldn't use her? No, you can use her and have fun and all that, but don't go around saying she is good, because she isn't Besides, stats and numbers aren't everything, she is cute, has some really cool supports convos, and she can provide a sensation of satisfaction when she finally is usable (Like all est's) P.S: I really had fun writing this, I always wanted to barf text on youtube, and I finally got the chance, sorry if it's incoherent, inconsistent, repetitive, boring, insequencial, and in general poorly written tl;dr; Sophia bad, you can still use her, don't expect much though

I think it’d also be useful to compare her to the other guiding ring users. If he didnt get the first one, Saul for example is an infinitely better choice to promote with the 2nd ring. Saul usually can get A staves with the promotion bonus, and since warp staff just arrived and 14x is around the corner, its at a perfect time.

I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you. Sophia ranks among the worst characters in the series. Now, she CAN become good, but good luck doing so when she's OHKO'd and doubled by everything at base. Not just that, she has like 50 hit on lower avoid enemies and 35 hit on higher avoid enemies, so she has issues hitting things. Her growths aren't anything special either. 55% in both magic and res are cute, but 40% skill and 30% speed are not, especially when your bases for those stats are 2 and 4, respectively. Compare this to Raigh's 55% skill/40% speed. Of course, Raigh also has better bases than her while losing magic growth by only 10%. Bottom line: Use Raigh.

Bottom line: Sophia is far better than Raigh with patience. If you hate the low speed and skill, then that means you are calling Lilina terrible, when she has a 20% growth for speed and 35% growth for skill. And that low dodge combined with 45% HP and 10% def makes her a contender for weakest, the only thing saving her is the earlier join time and 75% magic. As for Raigh, his Hp, magic, luck, def, and res are a lot lower than Sophia. So provide a counter argument that shows and indefinite way that Raigh is better than Sophia.

Hawkecrail Ray can actually help the your team and not just be a pain in the ass to train, unlike Sophia. Also, endgame stats don't mean anything when you'll still be able to beat it anyway. Also, Lillina IS terible. Not as bad as Sophia, but not even good. Why taking 40+ turns in some chapters training Sophia when you can easily finish them in 20 or less turns? Either way, Niime is just a godness atomping over anything with her A Staves and needing just like one or two anegelic robes to be able to take hits and tank with Nosferatu. Also, taking averages stats into account, 20/20 Sophia has: HP: 40 MAG: 29 SKL: 19 SPD: 18 LCK: 10 DEF: 10 RES: 29 Now, let's see Ray's stats: HP: 41 MAG: 28 SKL: 24 SPD: 21 LCK: 10 DEF: 11 RES: 21 Oh look, Ray has practically the same stats than her. Res doesn't matter at all in the last chapters, but having more speed a and skill and actually being usable without tons of babying makes him take the crown. If a unit needs a lot of babying and wasting a lot of turns to be useful, then they're not exactly that good. Sad thing really, I actually like Sophia a lot, and Ray is really annoying to me (never liked those 'tsundere' characters), and I hate how she's so awful. TL;DR: Ray>Sophia, even thought Sophia is better as a character

That's the point of an Est. you baby them until they can shred the enemies face off. As for bias, you could do this and it could be possible no one would get a stat up. How do you know that 1 trial will have the real results. There are no "average stats", anyway, because no one knows every persons stats.

The most painfull attack is when you have Dozla (FE Sacred Stones) with max strenght, with Garm equipped to deal like 50 damage, and then doing a critical hit against a Revenant with 1 HP left. Appart of unnecessary, that must be so painfull to that poor corpse :(

It deals a lot of damage but it's not quite the best Let's use Ross since I know he has a fire affinity, Dozla can work toi if he has an affinity that gives full atk 30 (max str) + (20 + 1) x 3 (garm's might + weapon triangle advantage) + 5 (supports) = 98 damage Factor in a bonewalker with a lance with around uhhhhh, let's say 5 def, and a crit. (98-5) x 3 = 279 damage. Even if the bonewalker had no defense, you'd still be dealing at most 294 damage. The most damage you can deal in fegba is 315 thanks to a glitch. If you abuse the stone glitch and train Moulder's glitched dark rank to S and use Naglfar, you'll be able to deal: [25 (max magic) + (25 x 3) (naglfar's might x slayer boost) + 5 (supports with Vanessa and Colm)] = 315 damage provided he engages a terror with no res.

If you're talking "FE History", I've seen Dimitri do over 900 damage on a crit. But if you're talking "FE6", hell yeah 216 damage hurts.

I don't think he did 900 damages back in 2008...It is "FE history" up to when the video was posted. xD But yeah nowdays it's just getting ridiculous. Back then, dealing 50+dmg without crit was already huge.

Regarding the description, you really don't have to use the arena for Sophia. She's a magic user so you can just trap enemies and have her attack them outside of their range. I did this on hard mode and Sophia was ready to promote after finishing two chapters with her.

Yes Sophia sucks if you're doing a ranked run. Sophia also sucks even more if you're doing a HARD MODE ranked run. But then again, if you wanna have fun, Sophia is fine to use. With arena and rng abuse and almost infinite stat boosters, you can make anyone good.

@Naglfar94 Sophia's growths aren't even that decent for some proper training. And not to mention she has one of the worst joining situations. Desert FoW map, coupled with getting doubled at base because of her practically nonexistant speed and the fact that Flux, of all dark tomes, weighs her down. And I wouldn't exactly call being underleveled "an advantage". You can't seriously tell me she's "good" with all of that against her. What difficulty do you usually play on anyways? Normal mode?

delivermypain I was kidding xD Enemies don't have enough mt to do 72, Lunatic+ or not. The only added damage-booster for enemies in L+ anyway is Luna. However, normal attacks from maxed player chars will often do 72x3 if they crit and, for instance, Ignis, especially against underleveled Spotpassers
