I think a lot of folks interpreted that dialogue between Ragnvaldr and D'arce as hinting at a potential future romance between them, since this interaction is limited to the pair of them and no one else. The story itself draws parallels to them, too (two people from two different worlds who might try to make a go of it despite how impossible it seems). I think it's kind of cute if they somehow were to end up together after this traumatic experience. The darkness, after all, is a place of metamorphosis and self-discovery
