When Janick first joined Maiden, I was skeptical of his style because I was so used to Murray/Smith but when I started to play guitar, I realized how good he was. Even after 25+ years of playing, I'd love to play lead as loosely as he does. He's does wonderful improvisation and never plays the same thing twice. That is what keeps guitar playing, and music in general, fresh. Hate on him if you want, it's up to you, but if I wanted to hear it note for note, I'd listen to the original recordings. Peace y'all.

His song (music) writing contributions to the band (Ghost of Nav, Dance of Death, Talisman, Legacy, etc ) are priceless and amazing and he adds a ton of live energy to the band. His live solo playing is technically below average, but he still manages to produce inspirational moments in some of the songs in which he solos, e.g., Paschendale, Brave New World, Talisman, Red and the Black, etc. In the end, Maiden would not have been as interesting, fresh, energetic, and versatile had they given him the hook when Adrian returned. That said, if I had to choose one, there is no question whatsoever that I’d choose AD over Gers in a heart beat. AD is the most important guitar in Maiden. DM is the most recognizable guitar and JG is the reckless guitar.

maiden always had 3 guitars in studio, Janick being kept around when Adrian Smith came back allowed them to play the songs live as they was always intended, Rock in Rio 3 is my favourite gig they ever done and ive seen them live in England, gers added and still does add a lot to the bands overall sound, the whole point in three guitarists is to add to the harmony and janick does this well, stop nit picking and listen to the music, Adrian and Dave also make small mistakes throughout songs, as do most famous guitarists they just hide it well or its close enough your mind ignores it, and that isd even if this is actually him, if you can play as well as this while doing all the on stage stuff these guys do, moving around, jumping, and keeping up and timing yourself with an entire band then you can judge....most can't so don't judge.

A lot of commenters here have obviously never played rock or metal live on stage before, or at least not in any successful capacity. The whole point of a show is to entertain your audience. If you do not entertain your audience, you have failed by default, however perfectly you play. Of course, many modern rock bands cheat left and right, and use click tracks, backing tracks, autotuners, in order to play perfect live - and still they can't make as good a show as Maiden can. Maiden are old school, true rockers. They do not cheat. What they play is what you get. And if you've never been to a Maiden show (which I suspect many of the complainers have not), belive me - what you get is better than most other bands these days. Yes, they vary in tempo, they don't always play things the same way, they make little mistakes. But it doesn't matter because the combined end result grooves like a mdfkr and they'r all over the stage with an amazing energy level - every fking night. I once saw a show where Alice Cooper and his band played first, the Maiden right after. Alice is no beginner, and he had a crew of younger, top-of-the-line session musicians. His show was really good, belive me. And then Maiden came on stage and blew him away completely - they're just on another level of energy and showmanship. I like to compare them to Queen in their early-to-mid 80s heyday for stage presence and energy level. Do you then care if Jannick hits a note slightly off or Nicko misses a beat? Do you even notice? No, you bloody well don't - because they're all in sync, it grooves like nobody's business, and you're all over the place waving your arms and headbanging.
@2410-s9l6 жыл бұрын
There's no bung notes, apart from the note just before his solo where he bends it slightly too sharp. Apart from that the playing is OK for a live performance, playing rock shows are not like playing in an orchestra where you have the music right in front of you and you are sitting down and you have a conductor. Nah, playing live in a rock bands not easy, you have to know everything off by heart, you have to play to other band members in the same boat as you, you have to play to the crowd, you have to look like your 100% into it every night. Its not as easy as it looks

If Janick could stop stretching his hamstrings and prancing around on stage that'd be great.

Carai essa cavalgada dele parece de alguém que ta aprendendo a tocar heavy metal ainda
@alexduarte104 жыл бұрын
@GabrielSoares-xh4ej4 жыл бұрын
@@alexduarte10 ele tem uma ótima presença de palco, cria melodias incríveis porém n acho que seja proposital isso....

I guess when you have 4 guitarists you can get away with sloppy playing because they will all blend together and form a sort of natural chorus effect. I've gone to some of maiden's concerts and I always thought they had a very oversaturated sound, it's even hard to make out the note's in the solos because those guys push so much delay/reverb/wetness. Bruce's vocals definitely cut through the mix and carry the songs though.

He didn't get away with it. He is busted. He has been caught red handed with his finger on the suck knob.

Janick is the only guy in the band that could quit without any hurt. Playing legacy songs his contribution is null and new material with some exception, is not what made Iron Maiden a global band. I really don't like style, taste and technical skill. His solo compared with Dave and Adrian make me smile and cry too

I understand that its a performance and he's trying to be a good performer so I give him props for having so much energy with it all. But very very sloppy non the less. Sometimes you have to think whats better running around and getting the crowed riled up or nailing your part it's a rock show after all

Well . Can't expect it to be tight when ure talking about 50+ dudes playing heavy metal. Gers never seen to be good at improvising ,neither Murray now a days. Eitherway , great motherfucking writers tho. And I literally love everything from 80s shows . So maybe I just don't like the live performances in the past 27 years with some exceptions. Like rock in rio in 2001 everything was heavy tight and well played
