There is the flip side for late menopause. You linger endlessly trapped in the peri - which ramps up as it hangs onto the bitter end. Heading into my mid 50's here, still in the peri phase and begging my body to hurry up and let me get onto the next phase. Our elders generally don't warn us about what is coming. We need more people to speak out about this phase of our lives.

My partner has been going through this for years now. It’s a daily struggle for her. I support her where I can but getting the right professional support is hard, especially as we live in the back water that is south Cumbria. She knows more than her GP about the topic, I feel that more dedicated knowledgable specialists are required in this field. They might be out there but certainly aren’t where we are. She is also mid 50s and still in the peri phase.

Thank you for talking about this fearne as its better to be educated around hormones but also knowing that its something we are all going to go through and that we will come out of it! If you're not at this stage in life then try to tune out and not watch or listen to videos if it is anxiety producing, which i understand but when you're in it hearing other peoples experiences does help. You have to do what's best for you.

I'm 37, been having perimenopause symptoms for the last year at least, my mum keeps reeling me "you're too young, I was 50 blah blah", but I know my body so I've paid for private blood tests which show I've got low testosterone among other things. My mums response "well you're determined to be perimonpausal" No, mum, my test results say it's my body that's determined, I'm not deciding anything. I'm so grateful to Emma, we need more support as even our own mums are stuck in an old fashioned mindset that's completely unhelpful!

We need legislation that makes it compulsory for workplaces to educate and bring awareness to women in adulthood when it comes to this stage of their life. We also need the NHS to come on board also. There is NOT enough information made available to women advising them 1. That Perimenopause is an actual thing and to expect it anywhere from mid 30s onwards. 2. That women need to prepare their minds and bodies for the onset of Menopause because it has long term health implications for the REST of our lives and 3. Menopause does NOT go away - we will have to live with this until we breathe our last breath. I honestly feel let down by our Health Service as a woman in my 40s going through Perimenopause. I should NOT have to rely on Google to educate myself on something so profound, that I'm going to have to navigate for the rest of my life. Things need to change NOW.
@eric5959Ай бұрын
Employers should not be lecturing staff about private matters. They should of course be understanding of issues as they arise, but what you are proposing is disturbing.
@AnitaBrown-g6xАй бұрын
@@eric5959 Eric, who said anything about LECTURING??!! The workplace is and will continue to be greatly affected by women who are feeling challenged by Menopause. People like you, who are closeminded to new avenues of support, guidance, education and awareness of Menopause and how we can all navigate it, will continue to keep it an isolating and overwhelming aspect of a woman's life.

The government has actually now recognised this debilitating feelings that women are going through. Work places have now started to tell them that if they are having a bad day they can take time out and if they want to work from home they can. I never experienced any side effect but my daughter has badly at this moment. They have put that in force now and have implemented it along with others, hurrah at last.

I do understand the impact of early menopause. I had an hysterectomy at 39 due to cancer. Now you can let early menopause impact your life or you can embrace it and welcome the future. I am not unsympathetic with young women experiencing it and everyone is different - I know that. I am just not willing to listen to yet another victim. This young woman has a life very few experience, embrace it. Sorry Fearne, but life is too short.

- How is sharing different experiences with perimenopause 'scaremongering'? I am pleased that more and more women are talking openly about how perimenopause has affected them and how their journey has been. Sure, many women don't have any significant issues with it. Still, on the other hand, there are a lot of women who do have some considerable challenges related to perimenopause. I wish someone had told me about it because I am going through it right now, and it sure isn't fun. I really appreciate it when women are more open about things like this. Too many women's health issues are not spoken about openly. In my opinion, we need this kind of conversation.

How does that help women that do suffer. Keep on top of your own health & let others do the same - *their way. Regardless of how you go through the menopause, there is more help available these days.
