After being disfigured by Durant (Larry Drake) & his goons, Dr. Westlake (Liam Neeson) re-establishes his lab in order to recreate his face using the synthetic skin procedure & plot revenge against those who wronged him by adopting the masked alter-ego Darkman.
From Darkman (1990): A mentally unstable scientist is burned in an attack and later stretches his invention of the synthetic skin to the limit by taking on the faces of other people to take revenge.

If my body was burned beyond recognition and my nerve endings were severed, I would be extremely on full-blown rage to get my revenge on the people responsible for my disfigurement like Darkman. Bad side is I can no longer live the life I was had and stalk in the shadows to stop the badass which I can help keep the streets safe at night.

Yes. But the synthetic skin dissolves quickly in sunlight ( less than an hour).

@@Dhampir101980 To be honest, Westlake should have used Latex Masks like the ones used in the mission-impossible films that don't rely on the 99 minutes instead of synthetic skin.
