@@nanettesilas6062 They can be a bit aggressive, they'll put their heads out and wings up and hiss at you, but so long as you aren't a real threat, you can make yourself big and just tell them to back off, and they do, all bluster, no actual action hehe. And I believe that people would like to be recipe testers (and early recipe recipients) as their "extra" that they are getting. Maybe you could do one of your Sunday chats each month as a "live" for Patreon members to participate in, then you could upload it to KZbin later for the rest of your fans. Double dip that income and work smart! 😉 PS - Patreon members could name some of your new animals too! 🤣

Yes, I think sometimes breaking away from just KZbin is a great idea, though I know some people don't like swapping platforms either!

Nyssa I've had same problem. Low freezer space but have several things I like better frozen,and not sure what kind of containers to get. I hate regret!! I did buy some of those reusable silicone zip lock bags and love them.
@OurSmallFootprint9 ай бұрын
I've had some of those reusable silicone ones too! My biggest issue is storage, though I do find cleaning them and sticking them back in the freezer clean is a good way, but we tried putting them in the tupperware/pantry cupboard and with our weather I think they sweat and if there's even a tiny bit of food left in them then they mould... :S

I don't believe you have shown all the animals lately and I do enjoy seeing them, too. Maybe you could fit them in a video. The banana bread looks so good!!!!

We're working on fixing up the roofing on the chicken pens atm, the netting has proven to not be enough to keep the goanna's out! We need to run aviary mesh there too unfortunately! So will update as we go forward with that, I think the animals get cared for over summer but not much progress! we are getting some female piglets prob next month though! :D

Have you thought about doing the buy me a kofi thing to supplement your grocery budget? I know your concerned about giving good value but having a bit extra in the food budget will mean being able to produce the content and maybe allow for experimental recipes with new to you ingredients. This would then free up your grocery budget for reallocation. A lot of vloggers have separate budgets for food video production as it's a legitimate business expense of you're a cooking channel . I love your videos and hate to see you struggle ,I'm sure I'm not alone and those few dollars each really add up
@debbiewenckowski46709 ай бұрын
Do a membership for $5 a month. There is no pressure on you that way. With membership money..YT does take 30% which is wrong..but it is what it is. You will still have $3.50 for everyone who buys one each month, it can really add up.

Is it possible to cut back on some of your portion sizes just so it stretches your food budget with your income loss
@OurSmallFootprint9 ай бұрын
We definitely reduce meat eaten and replace it with cheaper alternatives, more rice and pasta and veggies etc :). But our portions are fairly controlled already, everything done by weight to make sure we stretch what we have :).

@OurSmallFootprint9 ай бұрын
Yes, though I did make a really nice banana muffin the other day too (future video) which I'm really happy with, I've been working on reducing some of the more expensive ingredients, so used my coconut milk powder (that I bought in bulk and have a 15kg bag of) in the dry mix instead of using tin coconut cream, and making it so the dry mix is pre mixed for Sonnet to be able to just add dry to wet and then her mix in (banana/apple/etc) and cook them off! So that might be the new normal soon!

Patron of you making a recipe from beginning to end like you did in the beginning would be great ... food prices are so high we are all learning new ways..I think it would be great. Even if it's justa beginning to end of your flat bread..

I'm watching your why we moved off grid and how things went Q&A basically I've been watching you for a long time I don't comment but I do wonder if you chose to move off grid and kinda want to be away from the world why in the heck, would you want to do social media?? People say that all the time that they're mental they need to live out in the boonies. They want to be off grid but they're on social media which is terrible for your mental health. I do enjoy watching you and I will never be negative and I don't judge I just wonder.

Community is nice, whether online or in person, meeting like minded people and I’m thick skinned so I don’t take the negative to heart :). But it’s also an income I can make without leaving my property, it allows me to put more time into being out here by working from here too :)

Admin/bookkeeping is my forte, the typing worked, I have about a 110wpm typing speed, so it was something I could get done quickly which allowed for a decent hourly rate as it was charged on a per minute of audio basis, not much else will I be able to do that. Darryl can get more work for his converting though, and some of that is pretty strictly data entry, so maybe that is the way forward, I do the data entry aspects of that to speed up his workflow :D

Great food!! As usual I don't really know how getting paid thru yuotube works..is it views, likes, comments?? Please let me know.
@OurSmallFootprint9 ай бұрын
The ads are what actually 'pay' me, the advertisers pay KZbin and then we get a portion of that advertising fee, however, views and comments etc bumps the channel into the front page/watch nexts of other people, which can widen the audience and allow more people who might be interested in seeing the channel, which increases its 'earning potential' So everything helps in the end! Thumbs ups, comments, watching (with or without ads, I must admit sometimes I don't even think about it and I skip ads when watching other channels!)
