In this video I introduce the February darts deal of the month with the Designa Dark Thunder V2. I bought the 20 gram darts but they're available in weights ranging from 20 grams up to 30 grams. What an incredible 90% tungsten dart for this price range.

thanks for this review. i just got my set in and threw my first 26 with them. many more to come i'm sure, but that's cuz i'm a beginner. the darts are amazing! grip level seems perfect for me and the machining on these seems immaculate. paint job is a bit chippy at the shaft end, but we all know how long paint lasta on darts anyway :P ;) interesting that they come with short shafts. seems like a full size shorter then what darts are usually shipped with in terms of total length of the assembled dart. happens to be my preference, but some might want to order some tweenies or even medium shafts along with these. so i just went from a 90 euro dart (target carrera azzuri cx6) to this 20 euro one, and it feels like a major improvement. (for my needs, the azzuri got very slippery for my dry fingers when it got a bit worn) this review may have saved me quite a bit of money. :)

btw you're not wrong about those points! my 25 gram azzuri barely made it into the board (blade 4) halfway, and these things bury themselves to the barrel at 24 grams. no more 180s falling out of the board while i fumble with my phone to take a pic :P

Great review as always. I bought a set of these darts, 22gms through dartscorner over the holidays and really like them. I like their price as well. They come with the short stems and having never thrown with the supplied setup I like the snappy response from them,. The points are indeed sharp and the grip feels like a dry waxy grippy feel. Great darts at a sensible price.

I have 22g version one darts, really great darts, I changed the short stems for medium stems and that suits me best, bought them from dartscorner and as I don’t live in uk no vat to pay, bargain

I did the same shaft change, from short to medium and worked better for me, some people asked me why I did that if short shafts are better for a 24gram dart...... I just told them, this is what works for me....and I think the way you hold and release the dart has a lot of impact at the time to choose the right shaft

Designa have quickly become my favourite darting brand. I throw their 17g stilettos and have 4 sets of them and I dont think they add up to a set of top end Target darts. Beautifully made and any grip last an age.

@@WorldwideDarts I throw the 17g ones and after about 3 days of throwing I fell in love with them, they suit every flight, stem and point. Have that great balance and a natural grip from the nickel tungsten with a few ringed grips to add to it. Would highly recommend getting yourself a set cause they are great with the cosmo setup you have

@@WorldwideDarts Thats them. Yeah the picture of them doesnt look great but they are much better in real life, they dont keep the shiny look for too long and after that they grip in great. My set up is 41mm Winmau point, size 3 cosmo stem and FIT Air standard flight. Throw a set on your next order, I think with your throw they would fly nicely.

Worldwide Darts I’ve been using them exclusively for the last few weeks after using the Taylors for around a year (on and off for around 10 years) and really preferring the length of these. The paint chips up quite badly, but gives a nice battle used look!

I purchase a set of 24 grams dark thunders V1 (according to dartscorner specs V2 is 0 .2mm thicker than V1), i removed the paint and improved the grip a little bit, this model is so popular because is inspired in the unicorn purist phase1 , the darts phil taylor used at his first World darts title.....it is so nice that cheap and good darts are available to try them without spend money in expensive sets...the only issue with this darts is the point which is thin and if it hits the floor will be deformed (happened to me), so my suggestion is to buy a good set of points and replace them(target diamond are superb) .......thanks for the review!!!

I got several sets of these in the V1 version (they basically just have narrower rings). The only issue I have with these is the paint at the front wears pretty quickly.

Hi Rainer, if your ring grips are narrower, there is a machining issue with the darts, see my post at the top to WWD. The V1 and V2 should have identical barrels, the only difference should be the packaging and the flights. Contact your supplier who should be aware of the Designa Machining issue

I had the original ones way back in the day. I don't remember what they were like so I emailed Gary at Darts Corner because someone else asked the same thing. Gary said that that the V2 are the same design but now they are match weighted within .05 grams and they obviously come as a complete set. But definitely the same design on the barrel.

Have the 20g too, used to have them 22g as well. Perfect if u wanna try something out in a different weight, really inexpensive. Id argue with u on the grip level though. I know its a personal preference and skin type thing... but no way these arent a 3/5. They are a moderately grippy dart, but definitely on the grippy side. Gotto give them a 3.

You could be quite right about the grip. My hands are super dry right now because of this terribly cold weather and nothing feels grippy to me right now. My hands are like leather lol. I know Darts Reviews did a video on these. What did he say about the grip level?

@@Csibu89 Thanks. Yeah, the cold weather has been ROUGH!! It's done a number on my hands. All dried out and chapped. To be fair, I sometimes try not to mention grip level because it is so subjective and everyone is different. But honestly, these things really didn't seem all that grippy to me.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the black points on these darts? I got them along with a unicorn eclipse dartboard and it got beat up super quick - is it the black points or the unicorn board the problem?

The black points are smooth so it definitely wouldn't cause any damage to the board. The Unicorn is the problem here. It's highly documented that they wear out quickly

They all land the same for me. Anywhere from 10 grams to 48 grams. I've used these flights for all sorts of dart barrels.

Hi Janek, The ones that @@WorldwideDarts reviewed are extremely grippy, round about a 4, but the ones that Worldwide has, have a machining issue, that's why he only rates them about 2.5. See my post at the top of the page to explain all

WorldWide i noticed the weight on your rewieved darts vary. Like the designa patriot x is at 22 grams. This one is at 20 grams. Im ordering a designa patriot x darts based on your videos but at 24 grams

It's random what I review but I play with 19 grams. It doesn't matter what weight anyone uses but to give you a reference... The average dart weight of the top 32 PDC players is 22 grams.

Hi Worldwide, just saw your darts review of the Designa Dark Thunder V2, I have these darts and your darts suffer from the same issue that my first set of Dark Thunders did... Basically, between the two ring grips should be machined wider and deeper, this might not seem much but if you take a picture of your darts and then compare them to the picture on the darts corner web site, they look different. Darts Corner are aware of this machining issue and are happy to swap the darts for you, just drop them an email with your order number and an brief explanation, they even throw in some stems and flights as compensation for you having to send them back. I agree about the grip level on the darts, but once you have a set that have been properly machined, the grip level goes up to about 3.5 - 4. Also the properly machined darts have a much blacker appearance as the grooves are wider, there is more paint on them (which I stripped off using your acetone technique :-)) Great set of darts and totally love my 30g models now they have been sorted. I would recommend that anyone who has these darts double checks them to ensure they have been machined correctly as the difference in grip between the defective ones and the proper ones is significant.

Worldwide Darts awe no problem, just when I saw the review, I noticed immediately that the darts were that same ones as the faulty ones I had. Would maybe be worthwhile exchanging them for the proper set so the review is a little more accurate? But ultimately the darts are yours so who am I to make suggestions as to what may be best 😊

Obviously your darts will be much bigger then these. So maybe that's why my rings are more compact? I can't really say these are faulty to be honest. They match the pic as far as I can tell.

NOIR is pronounced NWAR. It’s French for black. I do get a bit confused about those that buy many sets of darts. Surely it’s about the players skill not the dart? Sure shop around until you find the right ones then stick with them. I have a friend who has many sets on a night out and he never gets any better because he’s always changing darts
