Yes!! I hope you enjoy City of Last Chances!! His first novels were actually fantasy before splitting off and doing sci-fi as well!

Never Die is on my TBR, too, I need to get to that one. I'm pushing Deadhouse Gates to March since we spread things out, and I have a busy February too! I've only read the first three books of Red Rising, but each book got better - hope you enjoy them!

Super curious to hear your thoughts on Deadhouse Gates, I hope it lives up to the first one for you! And I am also pumped to get to Clash of Kings, book 1 was a pleasant surprise and I have a feeling it will only get better! And I have a feeling that Red Rising will be a huge hit for you, especially from book 2 onwards. I just can't imagine how you wouldn't like those characters and all the emotional gutpunches. Happy reading!! 🤩🤩

Adrian Tchaikovsky actually got his start with Fantasy, he's already completed a 10 book epic Shadows of the Apt, which I hope to restart soon-ish, a trilogy and numerous standalones, seriously, read Guns of the Dawn, Emily Marshwic is an excellent protagonist. I've mostly read his Sci-Fi novellas which are excellent, especially Ogres.

Awesome video, Jordan! I might potentially join you for Never Die actually so let me know when you read that! Very excited for DHG, Clash of Kings, and Red Rising! Also, the more you read of the Expanse, the more you make me want to pick that series up lol hope you have an awesome month of reading!

Whether ASOIAF can be considered Grimdark or not is still an ongoing debate (its undeniably Dark Fantasy tho), if I was a betting man I'd say this likely stems from that given where we were left off in the narrative with A Dance with Dragons, the story was heading in or had begun its darkest portion. Plus no one can agree on what Grimdark actually means. Hope you enjoy Deadhouse Gates, for me this was the book that hooked me into the series. I'm hoping to begin my re-read of Malazan BotF sometime within the next year or two. I don't see myself finishing these in January but I'm currently reading: *Fantasy* Dragonbone Chair / Tad Williams - On a whim I decided to give this another go and I'm loving it. I enjoyed what I read of it last year but it just wasn't what I needed at the time. *Historical-Fantasy* Under Heaven / Guy Gavriel Kay *Historical-Fiction* Last Kingdom 4: Sword Song *Thriller* Bullet Train / Kotaro Isaka

Yeah grimdark is definitely an unclear genre lol. But ASOIAF feels like it because there’s just like no happiness 😂

OMFG, lipstick teeth! 😳 But seriously, STFU, it’s not at all a big deal. I think there’s a very good chance you’ll like Deadhouse Gates _better_ than Gardens. Can’t wait to hear what you think! 😀 And I’ll be re-reading Clash this month too, EXCITED.

I’m close to done with Clash and thought the beginning dragged a bit, but this last half has been great!
