Thanks so much for watching everyone! Sorry that there wasn't a full-length video last week! Let's just say I've been VERY BUSY preparing to build something VERY BIG for the tree monitor lizards! Don't forget to answer today's question of the day! As always, special thanks to my Reptiliatus patrons for their additional support www.patreon.com/Reptiliatus !

I’ve loved Tokays ever since I was a little kid. I got a poster of one at a school book fair in the second grade, and I’ve had it hanging in my room ever since. I even brought it with me when I moved into my own apartment, and it’s hanging in my (small) reptile room. I’ve always been fascinated by the extraordinary colors they display. It just never seemed like they could actually exist! As I got older and learned more about them I continued to fall in love, as far as their crazy personalities go. To see you working with them, taming them down, and developing captive bred populations is really a treat. Especially since I rarely see these guys captive bred. They are in the top 3 for me when it comes to species that I will be getting in the future, when I have more space and better means to care for them. For the mean time I truly thank you for allowing me to keep them vicariously through you. I always look forward to a good Tokay vid!!

I love tokay geckos! Of course, they're beautiful, but there's so much more to love about them. I love the family unit they make. It's so sweet how they raise and care for their babies. I respect their courage and defensive behaviors. In some ways, I find that admirable. I also really love their vocalizations, though I might not love that so much if I had them as pets and I could hear them all night! I also love watching them eat. They have so much gusto!

The amazing thing about your Tokay content is how you've developed a relationship. Toaky is seen as scary big bity Geckos, but you have shown that they can be somewhat of a pet. Also the Tokay Geckos coloring is second to none, If Tokay were as calm as Leopard geckos, they would overtake the hobby.

QOTD: The answer is easy for me. It takes a lot of time, effort, patience, commitment & most of all, passion, to get Tokay’s to the point you achieve with yours. I used this video to show my dad who I have in my terrarium... because mine wont show himself to anybody else lol But seriously, I rescued mine about 8 months ago from 5 or 6 years of neglect (ofc owner didn't know birth year) and you've been one of my go-to visual references what an healthy tokay should be :) Physical condition aside, he showed to be one curious critter when given the opportunity. I don't think he'll ever willingly come to my hand like Tiki, but seeing as he's not deathly terrified of me fussing in his terrarium, I celebrate the win as it is! Thank you for sharing your animals

I think there are 2 reasons why i like them 1) they are large and well, agressive as in predatorial, geckos, which are very active 2) for geckos these large they arent very anti social like other bigger geckos. I love tokay geckos and can't wait to be able to own them! I actually went through a phase where they were my favorite gecko. I ended up getting a couple crested and gargoyle geckos though since their care is much easier and I wanted to start smaller and simpler since I work and study a lot. I'm not sure what draws me to them, probably their beautiful colors, size, and misunderstood nature. I also love the way they raise their babies.

Nice video. And to answer your question, I like how they're one of the gecko species that have toe pads to climb on vertical surfaces along with their ability to sing and the way they look. Also, I knew about these geckos from the show Wild Kratts. I would later hear about the things people think negatively about them, but seeing how you care for the geckos shows they're nice pets. I did not know they live in families like Prehensile Tailed Skinks. 🙂👍🦎

Later I learned that a great number of those sold are wild caught. Then I found your videos about 3-4 weeks ago. A tokay family - what a novel idea! I learned they can be housed together, they are not always viciously aggressive and Tiki will have contact with you, I will go back and see your previous videos but thanks for helping me see these guys more realistically

@@leesreptilesandaquatics6368 it’s their way of knocking out, killing larger prey before ingesting it 😅. Unfortunately it’s loud and sometimes messy.

I'd love some info on breeding Tokays if you could help me out. I have a pair, but I am worried about just putting them together. I can't find much info on what to watch out for and if they will be a good pair.

Any recommendations for feeding a new tokay (2 months old). She is still adjusting and seems stressed. Won't eat from tongs.. just been throwing some crickets and dubias in there... Which isn't my favorite thing to do..
