Thank you for your dedication to helping us Dan. I am three months out of learning about this stuff, and migraines, neck pain, back pain are gone, aside from the occasional mild symptom that is easy to treat with irrelevance. I hope to be one of your success stories one day.

Only very recently have I begun to realise I haven't been feeling my feelings for years. Apart from rare moments of soft vulnerability, mostly I've felt anxious, angry and depressed. I've caught myself countless times over the last few years saying "I feel..." and noticing that I have no idea how I know I'm feeling that, because there's no sensation in my body to accompany it. My mind likes to tell me it's because I'm a bad person (my main hook) and I'm making it up, but I'm not - I'd never do that, or certainly wouldn't intend to consciously. I'm starting to wonder if that's because I'm sensing on some level that emotions are present, but I'm cut off from them. I "grieved" a really important relationship a few years ago, but the pain was 99% tension headaches and ruminating. I can only recall feeling heartache once and I knew that was "off" for me. I would say I was heartbroken and I knew (somehow) that I was, but I couldn't locate that feeling. Now I'm practicing somatic tracking with my SIRPA coach, I'm noticing that my feelings are things like body-shaking, changes in breath, muscle tension etc., things I'd call "sensations" rather than emotions. I'm a massive geek for psychology and spirituality, and have read about the concept of emotional suppression for years, but always got frustrated when I tried to body-scan, relax and allow emotions because the feelings didn't arise as emotional sensations, like tears. So interesting to be learning to sit back and watch the show, and allow my body to express itself, in the safe hands of my chronic pain coach. Thank you for this video

I’ve been reframing my nightmares lately using this technique. I now accept them for what they are and allow whatever emotions they elicit. Prior to this I was so frightened by them I was trying to forget/block them and because of this they were flaring up my symptoms but now they don’t. I get over them quicker and they are now less frequent, they don’t bother me anymore. Sleeping and having nightmares were definitely a PDP for me. Thanks Dan another great video.

Iv down loaded your pain free you site, but iv got a blader and bowel camera due next week, I'm sure it will turn out to be TMS, I have got used to working with pain ext, but in the last 2 years iv developed nerve systems and stomach problems, and with no reason or warning I go into hypers and all my muscle strength goes and I tremble, that's quite frightening , Greg Braden calls it heart math, thank you for the daily vidios I carnt zoom, so they are going to be very helpful to me Kathy

thinking too much is like ruminating which can bring up and relight emotions. sometimes people can be addicted to thinking and ruminating because of the stress hormones the brain got addicted to over the years of being in the same spot.(toxic relationships..mental diet)I guess that's what being mindful is all about. we observe our emotions..we allow them to be..we feel them fully...then..we gotta let them go🎈. what's the point of re feeling the same alarm over and over again once we turned it off. why hold a lighter to the alarm so that it keeps ringing. let it go. move on. next emotion is waiting to be felt. live life..emotions will come when needed in the past or future or in the present. it doesn't matter when. we shouldn't be limited to the present moment because we want to distract from thinking our old emotions. allow them..let them go. live life. be in the present moment to savor and elevate..only because it makes us feel good and vibrate higher. take a mental screenshot. I also notice people use being in the present moment to distract from intrusive thoughts from anxiety. counting backwards or forcing yourself to notice your seroundings and running to the present moment to hide. I've felt it myself and noticed that it's resistance. anxiety will find you in the past or the future and especially in the present moment. we should be aloud to time-travel in our thoughts freely without limits. without distractions. the same principles are used with almost everything in my life. allow...acknowledge..feel..don't ruminate...let it go...engage in life..elevate. taking out the resistance or the fight of has changed my life not only with health..but friendships..family..in general life. 🤗

Dan, I’ve been on a brain retraining program for quite awhile and have had some improvement but your approach is so much easier, I’m making even more progress. There is one symptom of TMS I’m having difficulty with and that is chemical sensitivities. The one activity where I have a lot of fear is holidaying in hotels in case there are deodorizers and bleach in the room I can’t escape. I’m holding my husband back from from travel because of this fear. Would you be able to do a video on chemical sensitivities at all? I can’t thank you enough for all your helpful videos.

we mostly think in words when we are journalling especially, and words are symbolic of the original thing... emotions are non symbolic and we put words to them to help us understand what we are feeling, but nooo the words are NOT the feeling lol xoxoxox when i was young i had a super hard time figuring out what was bothering me coz i have lesion in my brain in the area of acquired speech, it took me a month sometimes to figure out what was bugging me!

Hey Dan! How do we go about feeling fear, anxiety, and frustration? Especially as it pertains to perceived lack of progress, setbacks, and missed chances for progress? I find I ruminate most about these (🚨 perfectionsit tendency). I have developed this anxious feeling in my body and accompanying thoughts that seem difficult to shake off despite soothing conversations and things I KNOW are factual (such as "I am already ok", "look around! There is nothing that can hurt you", etc...)

Honestly I never can grasp the feeling emotions stuff. When I have a flare up a lot of times I don’t know what caused it. I don’t know how to tap into whatever emotion is happening.

Are you working with a coach, Joanie? I've struggled with this for yeeeeeeears. So much so I felt/feel broken and like this work applies to everyone else but me. I'm seeing a SIRPA coach in-person and realising that my "feelings" are arising as subtle changes in breath, body jerking/shaking and muscle tension right now. Had I not been working with my coach, I wouldn't have clocked these sensations (or would have dismissed them) because I was looking for/expecting grief to arise as heartache or tears. Hope this helps x

Remember it's not always emotions that your brain is trying to protect you from. It can be something as simple as a physical position or movement that your brain has learnt to be dangerous. Sarno was singularly focused on the emotions but if you watch a lot of Dan's videos you'll see that emotions are just one of the potential triggers for PDP.

Joanie - we don't always have to find the emotion or the perceived danger. If we can, great, but if not, don't worry about it. Go right to messages of safety.
