The key to being happy: just know you're never going to make your asian mom happy. The best you can do is live your life the way you won't feel regret.

This part. I hope Cat can eventually emotionally detach from her mom’s thoughts / expectations bc it’s the only way to be happy.

The KZbin gods have chosen you with whatever their algorithm magic is. It’s your personality that draws all of us who are sticking around. You don’t need to do anything special, seriously. Your life is different than what we’re living and that ‘escapism’ is what makes me come back. I get to experience South Korea ..because the reality of me traveling there myself ..well, the chances are super thin. Thank you for being willing to share what you do. 🥰

Aww bless you! I am pushing 40, only just finishing my PhD and I after graduation I plan to pack everything up and move to Korea to teach English. People around me think I'm bonkers but we have to do what makes us happy, not just what our parents want us to do. Once I realised that, I was way happier. Anyway, loving your videos and can't wait to see what comes next. xx

Hi hi, new subscriber! You make excellent content, I like the pace, your vibe, and just seeing that your life isn't ~ perfectly aesthetic ~ all the time is nice. Being a teacher is rough. Putting your students needs above your own- constantly. I hope you find time to remember yourself. Anyways, subscribed!

Hii Cat !!! I recently came across your videos and became a fan of you because you're one of the most relatable persons I have seen in these different social media platforms. Seeing you figuring out your life & going through daily life crisis gives me motivation like I'm not alone who is feeling lost. Being in my 20's it's easy to compare myself with people who have all figured it out, but sometimes being lost is maybe what makes life more enjoyable. Hope everything turns out as you wish in your life & better. I just love you and your videos!! Keep going Girl !!! 💕💕

Hahah this actually made me smile, aweee you are so sweet! Thanks for the encouraging words and agreed it's hard when we compare our lives to the shiny and flashy but in reality everyone has highs and lows. Hope you also have an amazing week. Take care! ❤️

That's rough getting berated by a parent when you would hope they'd lift you up. And honestly, your 20's are usually super tumultuous and you can still change as a person in that time as well. I'm still learning to survive in the adult world and I'm in my 30's now, so you're not alone. Looking forward to the visa and "how to move" video in the future!! Good luck with work and the childrens!!

My best friend went to teach in Korea and found the hours exhausting as well. It's such a beautiful country though - even if you don't want to socialise much on a Saturday you can try to see some of the country-side and some of the museums and parks if you like that kind of thing.

I completely relate to this, my mum was the same way! Just follow your own path darling, you are doing a great job of it all. You will make some mistakes but that's how we learn and grow right? You are still at the beginning of your journey and it's true that the experience of it all is what matters. You can do ANYTHING you want, focus on what makes you happy and fulfilled. We are excited to watch it unfold. You got this girl 🫶

Thanks for sharing, Cat! The older I get the more I realize figuring out life is something we will need to keep seeking at every stage of our lives. Like you said, Rome wasn't built in a day, so let us keep on taking baby steps and discover the path that God has planned out for us! P.S. I hope you can eventually find a better balance for your life in Korea:) Missing you from Cowtown!

I'm a new follower. I find your videos very interesting; I certainly can identify with many of the things you discuss. I lived in Korea 1982-83, courtesy of the US Army I served as an officer on General Staff. I committed to getting out and experiencing as much of Korea as possible. I had no specific plan, I just wanted to experience and enjoy. In my case, it doesn't have to apply to you, it changed my life. I made life-long friends and I met and married my wife. We go back on a regular basis to see our family and friends - Korea is truly an amazing place. My professional career has been very successful, but nothing like I thought it would be. I simply pursued opportunities as they were presented and did the best I could. I continued to pursue opportunities when they were available and I was interested. You will do fine. Enjoy your experience and time in Korea.

I moved across the world with my fiance and I still get nagged LOL. Anyway my point is to enjoy your 20s, enjoy life (like you are doing now!). You only live once. I think you're a brave person to up your life and move across the world by yourself where you don't even speak the language. You'll look back later and think "Gee I did well for myself!"

It was hard especially being Asian. Anyways, I think about moving to Korea one day and living there for a year or 2. But because I don't have a college degree is it possible to get a job there? How does it work being a foreigner there?
@Foreveryc979 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words! So for the teaching jobs you need a college degree, however you can come on some other visas, you could look for applying to an arts academy! (so like a student visa) Theres also a creators visa you could look into! Sorry I don't know the specific names of those I came on the teaching visa so I can only speak to that!
