I've got two rescue cats. One from the shelter and the other was dumped in a garden somewhere. The youngest (the dumped one) is scared of everyone except of me, and shows some of the signs in this video. The older one, from the shelter, shows more of these signs. She likes to headbutt my head, licks my hands, and some more things. I'm happy they are happy with me.

When I was 11 years old in late September 1981 that I met my 2nd cat when he was a stray in the backyard. He was afraid of me at 1st meeting. A few minutes later he started to cuddled with me. He stuck around for a month and a half. He was a big sweetie towards my sister and both of my parents. He did always come up to me when I was watching TV with my parents. He started to purred loudly on me. I even did gently forced him to lay on his back for belly rubs on my belly. He just melted into me. He was in that position for over a hour. Both of my parents were jealous of me with him. He was sweet and friendly towards them and my sister,too. He did meow at me for talking. He was the only cat that loved his belly rubs by me and even my sister,too. My cat was a big sweet and friendly red tabby. He did got along with our 1st cat.

My cats both love their tummy rubs! I have one boy and girl kitten; brother and sister. They’ll roll over when they’re laying on me. They love to sleep on me. Got my girl here right now. She’s a big sweetheart. Never had a girl cat like her before because they’re typically more aloof and don’t want to be bothered. All my boys have been sweets though lol.

I have a bonded pair of 5yo Torties. Pixie is very affectionate and she enjoys belly rubs. Penny is a bit more reserved but she will expose her belly if she is feeling creamy enough. My cats always greet me when I come home. They are also excited to see what I brought in. Penny likes to play in the empty shopping bags and I toss each bag on the floor as soon as it's empty. Most of them get shredded by the time she is done. I had a cat that would yawn at you in response to a question. The yawn would signify a [NO] response. A [YES] would be an energetic meow or simply lead me to the subject in question. To the catbox if it needed scooped, her food/water bowls if they need refilled or to the front door if she wanted on the porch to sun herself. Pixie will wrap her tail around my arm every time I scratch at her butt. It's almost as if she is holding me there for more scratches.

My bb is super smart. When he first licked my nose, it was dry and hurt. So I both made a high pitched noise to indicate pain but also pet him in a spot he really enjoys to show him that I understood he was showing me affection. He started wetting his tongue almost immediately and once it was fine I stopped the noise and bunted him about it. Now, anytime he notices I woke up in the morning he rushes to me to give my face a big lick fest of excitement. 😊

It's generally true that belly rubs are not appreciated, but truly every cat I've ever had did in fact enjoy them. Obviously its because they trusted me so that distinction should be made clearly. If they love and trust you they can and do enjoy belly rubs. I don't know anyone that would attempt belly rubbing a cat they had no loving relationship with.

Right as it talks about cats exposing their bellies, mine does it as I am petting him so my hand is on his belly, then he rolls over and starts purring. I love it when cats do this. Most cats I've bonded with, like their bellies rubbed. It is in the method and approach. They like your hand placed on the belly, just lightly moving the fingers. The time they seem most receptive is during snuggle time or when relaxed. A cat just wallowing on the floor is asking to be played with, not pet. My guess is if you get a toy out, they will light up and attack it like prey.

I love how they retain so much of their natural “wildness.” They can go outside and kill something (not that I like or approve of that) and then come in and lay on our laps and cuddle. I think they are the closest to “wild” that you can get in a domestic pet.

We live on a busy road in a small rural town and we do let our one-eyed cat out in the yard. As long as I stay out he's out. He doesn't try leaving the yard but, he's very sociable and we don't want someone taking him,. He runs to the neighbor when he hears his voice, he rescued him from where he'd been dumped on the road, he was 5 weeks old, the vet had to remove his eye. He gets around great. If you watched him and not see his missing eye you wouldn't notice .

One thing though, for people who have some difficulty hearing & therefore also read the words on the screen, your "set up" with words/sentences is ridiculous!! Far too many times there is NOT enough time to read 3 words let alone 3 lines!! And the chronic jumping around of particular statements/sentences is beyond frustrating!! My cats show so many of these signs. One rubs his forehead on mine as he crawls up on my chest. One lets me rub his tummy a little bit. I don’t think the description of the flehmen (sp) response is accurate. A cat gathers a smell in his mouth and then uses his tongue to trap the smell and hold the trapped smell against the Jacobsen’s organ. It’s usually something stinky they are investigating, not their person - unless they’re smelling your stinky feet! But some good stuff here.
