How to bathe a Maine Coon cat.

Maine Coon cats are most often not afraid of water and bathing them is not a big problem. You can of course find exceptions both ways. As you can see, our Impact does not care much about it, and you could even say that he enjoys it.
We use different products depending on the circumstances, what you see is normal cat bathing, for example preparing a cat for a show would require different shampoos and tools.

Since some of our cats are extremely large ( Impact is our biggest cat ), we use a fairly large automatic dryer. For average-size Maine Coon cats you can use a smaller dryer.

Our cats love water. Maine coons are like that they love to play in the water and they love to be in the water. I don’t think they get cold because they have an extra layer of fur , their feet are fuzzy, and their ears are fuzzy that’s why they are such good cats for Maine. We live at about 4500 feet and they’re never cold in fact the first thing they ask for in the morning is to have all the windows open. Well what I particularly love about these cats as they get along with kids, other cats and dogs and they’re just so easy-going. We have rescues - both puppies and kittens and our cats “mother” these babies. ❤️

That was amazing; the cat seemed to actually enjoy a lot of it. My little random-bred tortie shorthair explodes so spectacularly that the vet/boarding facility actually has a "Do not attempt to bathe" note in her folder. I had a roommate who'd simply take his Maine Coon cat into the shower with him. I questioned his judgement at the time, but apparently the cat never even protested.

It's all about how we introduce something new, our energy while doing so, and then maintain it. My cats, dogs & rabbits love carriers & their Vets. They actually sense when they are going and get all happy and excited. Even Mr Vivo is good about bathing. He may not be crazy about a specific part, maybe the water, but the massage is pleasurable. This kitty loves it all.

Heck, it's taken Romeo, my MC, 3 three and a half years to get used to me towel drying him after he's been out in the rain. I don't think he'd take too well to an actual bath. These are pure breeds, and they start grooming them at the age that's safe, and therefore they do enjoy the attention and loving they receive. Remember most Maine Coons are gentle giants and love being in the center of attention and clean.

I’ve never seen a cat that seems to totally enjoy getting a bath. He knows his bath 🛁 means tons of attention & endless massages! And above all: Kisses. So many different shampoos/creams applied & he didn’t mind a bit! With that setup, it looks a lot easier to bathe them. I had to show my husband the “blow dryer.” It looked like a microwave turned into the ultimate drying tool! Thanks for sharing!

That is the first Video, I say hmm must I do that 🤔, our both love water but they are always in the house or balcony. The get daily a brush sometimes all 2 days but we are thinking there is no need for that. Our Pet Doc and where we get them from say the same. I see the Coonie feel well so everything is fine. And by the way a Coonie in wet looks always bigger than all other Cats 🤣 Thanks for showing us 👍

Of course, you don't have to if you don't need to. Actually, we only bathe our cats when necessary, but because they have access to an outdoor run, sometimes it is simply necessary. And that's the way we do it.
