We always spent a lot of time, helping to make sure that everyone was growing at the same speed, we would make sure the runt, did not lag behind. We would pick out the fullest teat, and make sure mom had some time alone with her tiniest babies... And make sure that no one was ever hungry. I burned up weeks of sleep making sure everyone was at the table eating together, after the first 2 weeks everyone could hold there own. My vet said, me and my partner worked very hard, but it was worth it. Average gains per day were wonderful. I lovs my kitty kats.

Anytime my cat approached me as a source of food, comfort, warmth, security, play, or simple companionship, I never hesitated to reciprocate in any I could and most especially in a way they seemed to understand. But when my Kitty came to me, just because, then just because was good enough for me. Miss you, Kitty.

I watched this with loving nostalgia and a little heartache too. We lost our Cirrus, a solid white half Maine Coon, we adopted from a shelter when he was about three years old. He had been badly mistreated by two former owners who didn’t know or care what a Maine Coon breed is. We had a lot of experience through the years with Maine Coon half and sometimes our Vet said that the new one that just moved in with us, he thought was full bred Maine Coon. It turned out that there was a full bred Maine Tom in our area and his owners did not keep him as an inside cat!!! Cirrus did not come from that neighborhood though because we had moved and built our retirement home and our cats then were elderly and we lost them one by one to old age. We could not stand being without cats. So we went to a shelter in the next state where I had seen this beautiful big male white male cat that resembled a Maine in build, especially his head. Also I feel in love with a smaller than usual grey striped tabby female cat from her picture online, named Miss Sadie! We went to see them and Cirrus acted exactly like a Maine Coon in temperament and behavior. Hubby and I were both just in love with both of these kitties!!! We brought them home. We lived over an hour away, so I sat in the back seat where I could open both carriers and pet them and slip them a treat once in a while. I am positive that the Good Lord, Jesus sent them both to us because just three years later hubby was diagnosed with a serious cancer and the doctors told me that my hubby was dying and they could do no more. When I brought my husband home, Cirrus never left his side. I would feed Cirrus right next to the bed or next to Hubby’s recliner. He even went into the bathroom when hubby did. He actually never, ever left hubby’s side. As the months went by, my hubby clung to life and Cirrus, and actually began to gain weight and feel a little better. With no treatments, except those “sent from our Lord”, my Husband was cured of a cancer that is always fatal, and still is even today. We know that our Lord healed my Husband, but hubby says that Cirrus helped him a great deal by staying so close and showering him with the caring love and closeness that only a Maine Coon can bring. Those people who have Maine’s know exactly what I am talking about! The Maine Coon is an extraordinary breed, intensely caring, and very intelligently connected to the human he/she bonds to. Cirrus has been the only white, with cream mixed in his coat, that I have ever heard of, or seen. He had yellow eyes, with a greenish tint. He had that unmistakable Maine Coon head, and third coat, and that glorious, long bushy tail. Cirrus had to be euthanized in 2014, because he had an unknown neurological problem that was slowly paralyzing him, and had developed the colon disorder that Maine’s are prone to develop. That disorder is genetic and very painful for the cat. We treated him for about 8 months, but then his condition got so bad, he was put into ICU to relieve his pain while he got treatments. This time the treatments did not work and he developed the deteriorating neurological condition. We did the only humane thing, relieve him of the intense pain he was in and let him go across the rainbow bridge. We still miss him abominably. In my 70 years of life, Cirrus was the most extraordinary and most loving cat I have ever had the good luck and joy of knowing and the pleasure of loving and caring for. 😻🫶🏻💝

I'm so sorry. From my experience, it's the saddest thing in the world to lose a beloved cat. My boy is a Maine Coonie too. He has tufted ears and feet. He hasn't been well lately. I so dread when that horrible day comes that he leaves me. I don't know what I will do or if I'll even be able to go on. I know how you feel and it's awful. That's why I'm writing because I sincerely am so sorry. RIP Matthew, sweet Maine Coonie boy.

@@benton-benton Thank you for your considerate words. Matthew fell ill in a short period of time and on his last night with us, I stayed up the whole night with him so he wouldn't be alone. Unfortunately, the next day he had to be put to sleep; I probably had no sleep for a good 24 hours. Time has eased some of the sadness and the addition of a kitten who was wandering in our neighborhood. I pray your Maine Coon lives the full number of his years and remember this, even when they pass, they're not in your past, they're are in your future! Keep Well, Joe K.

SO TRUE!! Every weird cat is the best but MCs that come to you from a rescue are an incredible handful. They are on fire. They are mad as hell. Ain't no one stopping them from being on fire -- it can take years of help, humor and lots of 'play scratches' And then they turn into the biggest lumps. Which is ironic since their markings say 'I'm going to kill you. And I'm going to eat you. Meow. Yum. Yum.' You see it constantly on KZbin videos with folks that don't have a clue as to how to handle pussycats..or are newbies and trying their best. We were all there at one time. But it takes experience, time and patience. And an open mind. And the understanding that a cat is not a human. You have to respect their idiosyncrasies. Which is a fancy word for 'we are the idiots. They are the masters'. Cool..that's the theory. Right? Right. It's called love. My MC was a rescue in Orlando 7 years ago. She was 'tossed' in the door of the animal rescue place. That is what the staff told me. And they couldn't even get the guy to say what her name was ... so maybe that was the blessing...in tossing her, we could start fresh -- If you can call a ball of fire 'fresh'. When they did her initial evaluation (as best they could) she looked to be about 5 to 6 years old. And she weighed a huge 7 pounds. So you especially KNOW how neglected that was -- hell, their fur is 7 lbs it seems some times. 🙀. Her photo on adopt-a- pet looked like a huge dirty burlap bag -- ears flat out, eyes on fire and pissed off beyond description...you can well imagine. And that is a kind description. Ha ha. So of course she had to become part of the pack -- With a lot of love, care, humor and feisty scratches. So it took one week of effort for them to do the good blood work so we could get her to the house & join the other five. And then she went under a loveseat for two months. We knew she was there but she kept to herself. Cool. And finally a couple of months later she came out, looked at me, meowed and that begin the next phase of my sweetie's transformation into becoming an almost totally cool MC. It's taken seven years for her to totally succumb to the joys of being a MC completely. But it was a lot of fun. With a lot of moments of confusion as far as to whether I was trying to kill her combing her out or she was trying to kill me while she thought I was trying to kill her. I'm so enjoying this video knowing that what I am watching is what could've been for her 14/years ago. But she's had a hell of a good ride now for the last seven. I also have a bobtail, a diluted calico, a weirdo, a strange one, a real potpourri of mutt cats .. Love it. And you know what they say about dogs -- there's no such thing as a bad dog just bad people? I think that is true of kitty cats. And kind of human beings also. You give a lot of time to help a furry little creature who is more scared than you are when you're trying to make sure they are OK. And they reward you. Oh... I named the burlap bag 'Joy-Joy.' Because if there ever was a kitty cat that came into my life that needed a double dose of joy, she was the one. So today, I offer you peace, blessings and continuing purrs with your fur babies. Be safe. Gail in Central Florida Sunday, September 26, 2021. Peace & purrs out. 🙀🙀🙀😎🙀🙀🙀

As I watched this video, I kept telling my small family & my son’s friends that I was overdosing. “What?” they asked. I said I was overdosing on Coonie kitty cuteness. They heard me ooo & ah-ing for over 1:50 minutes! I started out at the beginning & watched half the videos & stopped to wait until you were done making them. Now, I just watched them from beginning to end. MAGNIFICENT, Robert!👏 I found myself loving ALL the kitties. I did have favorites too. The other day I said I didn’t want another black fur baby because of my 20 year old long haired solid black cat Ebony who passed last September. Until, I saw Tara. A solid black Maine Coon so beautiful I literally teared up near the end of the video. Not as majestic as the black ghost Vivo look. But oh my Lordy, simply gorgeous! I was surprised I was drawn to Scott too. A blue gray? Beautiful. Saylor was a stunner too! And, Scarlet (can’t recall spelling) - another one to remember. If I recall she was like Lucy, her Mom-a silver tabby? I think Titus (Tara’s brother) made a major improvement. He was like the runt of the two litters. Who fought his way to be as tuff as the others & a sweetie. I loved them all. I know I’m forgetting another huge favorite. I very well may be watching this video again for that reason & because I enjoyed it so much! Thanks again, Robert!😽

This was a fun video. Long, but I watched the whole thing. They started out as immobile little balls of fluff and grew into the most interesting, personality-filled, and gorgeous kittens! The white around some of their eyes is very striking. But if I'd have been given a choice of taking one home, I'd have wanted little Scott. The shy baby boy with that beautiful blue coat. I was also very partial to Titus and Tara from the younger litter. But they are all so absolutely gorgeous that you couldn't go wrong with any of them. Both of your moms are beautiful and so loving, sharing baby duties. Are they sisters (littermates)? They look so much alike! Where is dad cat? I guess he isn't yours since you didn't feature him in the video? I hope the kittens are all happy and healthy in their forever homes. I would love a Maine Coon, but my two tabby boys have very similar markings and I love them so much. Thank you for letting us watch these kittens develop through their first weeks of life!

What a beautiful mom, and look at the size of her feet! 😁 The kittens are gorgeous and are going to be huge cats. Maine Coons are such a special breed, I have a black and sable polydactyl male, he has a 6th digit on his paws that works like a thumb, and he's just over 24lbs (11kg).

I wish I could own a Maine Coon cat. However, having said that, the RSPCA gave me the best cat in the world. A regular bitser kitten that needed a loving protective home. After 16 years on he understands my human words and I try to imitate his own cat language. I understand what he wants or needs. I’m sad because I found a lump near his throat. The vet said from his blood test what he has is Thyroid lumps. He is on medication but I can’t live without him.

This was wonderful! My MC Django was about 14 weeks old when I got him so I missed these first weeks. They grow so fast and I love the the ears started standing up and then were so huge! It takes two years at least for them to reach maturity so mine will be a kitten for awhile longer- just a whole lot bigger. Thank you!
@catherinestewart41452 жыл бұрын
Update: Django is 15 months old and weighs 17 pounds! He grows so fast he is very clumsy trying to fit some place today that he fit yesterday! And a note to our Aussie friend, we are in Tucson and he is not allowed outside because we have coyotes in our alleys. I was told not to take him places on a leash so he doesn’t get curious about outdoors. I’m buying a buggy for him because he is getting too heavy to lug in a crate!

Tucson gets to to 115 sometimes but Django has air conditioning.

My Norwegian Forest Cat males "The Dads" take a big part of education, grooming and as babysitters (stress relief) for The Mothers. Even sleeping a lot together with "someones" kids. Fathers are good for wrestling and as tree climbing teachers and mothers for hunting, but they always decide how males can behave. :) Only difference of the kittens can be at young(-er) age a little bit more high jumping and speed running, also on my the walls with woven jute wallpaper! Haha! But I really love these fluff balls and still so intelligent and kind type of breeds!

@@sherryanndambrose574 : I think that Norwegian Forest Cats look very similar to the Maine Coons, except that their faces are more horizontally elongated and their ears are more pointed and hairy. They have those same beautiful faces and elongated bodies.

@swissuz2 жыл бұрын
@@sherryanndambrose574 Norwegian Forest Cats are very closely related to the Maine Coon Breed, (at least that's the theory that I accept.) It's assumed that MC cats are one of the breeds that originated in the US. It's thought they came from immigrant ships to the new colonies. That makes sense to me. I have adopted my mother's pure bread Maine Coon, when my mother passed away. Her fur feels like silk!
