Wow !! It’s kinda odd to me how you find it odd to see women hating on women, bc unfortunately, it happens every day, all the time. Whether it’s in kpop, or every day life. Eg Women getting mad at the woman their bf cheated on them with (even if the other woman was also being cheated on), women shit talking their ex’s new gf, women shit talking other women’s looks and bodies, women losing their morals and being super nasty to other women over mutual romantic feelings over someone else, pick me girls degrading other girls for male validation, or purposely embarrassing their friends in front of guys, and the list goes on and on. I remember one time in a discord group, There was a huge feud going on between girls who were commenting on which female idols were the most useless. So obviously, there came in the conversation vivi, Irene, lesseo, nancy etc who were called girls who just got in the group due to their beauty. They commented on how joy and Lisa are super lazy as they can't make even a decent solo and what not was thrown in the conversation. Do you know what there pfps had? Not boys, mamamoo pfps. Yep you heard it right. The defination for their value of a female idol is super high that when they don't see a huge talent or struggles of an idol, they think it's worth less. They thought wonyoung was worthless because after all what does she do? She just poses and acts cute. This is the live misogyny that I got to experience and this is honestly sickening to see. They want a woman to be bold when a woman can just be as successful by being feminine and introvert. Cuteness doesn't degrade a woman's value. Beauty and talent is in the eye of the beholder. Because of those discord group girles having such a 'women's group' or 'not like other girls' mentality, it destroyed their view on women as a whole. In term of talent, it is a fact that male idols (who are famous) are usually more talented, a lot of them produce their own music (BTS, SVT, Stray Kids, got7, etc) I really don’t see female idol go above and beyond to be famous (Twice, IVE, new jeans, aespa, etc). First. I agree with basically everything you said. Second. Thanks so much for saying it, especially that part about not being a bad person if you feel insecure because of the female idols. It's gonna sound stupid asf, but I almost teared up a bit listening to it. I listen almost exclusively to boy groups and it's something I often felt guilty about, because I pride myself on being a feminist and I truly believe women should support women, but I just can't. I suffer from some serious body dysmorphia and have struggled with eating disorders basically my whole life, even ended up in a hospital couple times because of it. Thanks to therapy, I mostly keep it under control now, but I still have to be extremely careful about what I decide to focus my brain on. I may like the female idol and their music and be amazed by their talent, but once I start to genuinely look up to them, it's like my brain just gets stuck on the fact that they're all so incredibly pretty and most inportantly, skinny, and then I start to feel disgusted with my own body and start obsessing over food again. So I can only very casually listen to some gg songs, but I can never watch the MVs. It does make me feel guilty tho, so I don't care how stupid that sounds, hearing this video really made me feel better.

I feel like female kpop stans see other women idols (who are attractive) as competition ro the point that they can't see the male idols with women. And often times this can lead them to ship m/m idols only together as a way of saving them for themselves and for a weird fantasy. i disagree. from my experience, a lot of female kpop stans who hate on pretty and successful idols are not just jealous OF them. they're jealous FOR their faves, who actually tend to be other female idols. for example, a lot of wonyoung haters are gaeul stans. as you said, female kpop fans either feel that other female idols are role models or that they're competition. a lot of these fans get attached to one female idol and view the others as threats. for example, gaeul stans adore her and believe that wonyoung is stealing all the spotlight and overshadowing her, so they attack wonyoung. although this is bad, i wouldn't call this "internalized misogyny" per se. I think the demographic you were referring to are female boy group stans, but you missed the most influential haters: female girl group stans.

i'm a boy group stan. i only stan boy groups - around 34 or 35 + 4 soloists, also male. even if all the content social media throws at me is bg content, and i only ever look into bg content and music, its just so sickening to see how even if its not part of my main interest, all the hate thrown at female idols always manages to come to my attention. its sickening how girls try to bring other women down. it just doesn't make sense to me - how can a *fan* believe that a female idol is competition over a male idol? girl you're a fan. this female idol has had more chances over you in the beginning anyways - you have no chances and your oppar doesn't even know you exist. these toxic stans are for the most part delulu on the side as well. and although i'm bi and feel attracted to women and don't know how straight stans would see women, it still confuses me how stans feel so threatened by female idols. fine, they're pretty. fine, they might be prettier than you. but they have professional stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists. they have filters and professional cameras and editors behind them. a fan watching their content will turn to a mirror and just see their _raw_ self. no editing. of course that must feel bad, but some people can't accept that there's so so many reasons behind female idols, or all idols for that matter, looking so stunning all the time.

I have to disagree. I don't think the main problem is (female) bg stans, I think it's female gg stans that see pretty women/female idols as a threat to them or their faves. I don't know about other's experiences, but when I see unnecessary hate on a female idol (online), it's usually someone who has a f idol pfp, sometimes even members of the same group (which is really sad btw). That doesn't mean that ALL hate on female idols comes from misogyny or only gg stans (yes, some bg stans are guilty as well) and I find it really weird that women are hating on other women for being pretty or calling them untalented (when they're working they're asses off) while still saying "women support women" and stuff along the lines of that. I'm afraid of saying that, in my personal opinion, (G)-IDLE was the best kpop group this year, because of toxic boygroup stans and their internalized misogyny. It's kinda funny, because I'm actually a huge fan of 3 of the most popular boygroups actually, but I'm still afraid of their fans like them were bullies on my primary school... And that's my experience lol, but I'm glad that I had made some online friends whom I can talk about my special interests. I'm also trying to go to fanbase activities on my area, because I'm tired of letting my internet experience stopping me of actually doing things that I want to do lol

i feel like i have a different viewpoint of this, i keep up on girl groups much more than i do on boy groups. i have somewhat built up a barrier around me of other lgbtq kpop stans that stan similar groups to me (im lesbian lol) meaning i never really see this happen. i know it happens, but it's really interesting hearing about this as someone who is not attracted to men, i feel like it gives me somewhat of a different viewpoint

Hmmm, maybe is not misogyny, maybe is just someone tired of S. Korea objectification, literally, of woman's and girls. The way Kpop male bands are 10+ years but female hardly gets to the 7 year mark. They are treated like dispensable products in a level way bigger than boys... And the absurdity of things they need to follow (boys too), and the fact they are usually exploited way more than boys, and their image, like you are putting, are criticised by males and females to the point of being disturbing... Maybe a video about this problem is perhaps more important than girls jelly of other girls? Maybe talking about showing more maturity/complexity/discernment (not calling you immature or anything , I don't know you, just presenting a point) could make people think "hmmmm maybe the problem is way bigger" What do you think?

many people are already speaking up on these subjects. us girlgroup stans are always discussing this stuff. if you think that people don't talk about this enough, go make your own video and start a conversation too! but the topic of this video is important too, because the amount of hate some female idols get just for breathing and existing is actually insane. inner misogyny can be very toxic and poison many women's perception of other women and themselves. so this is a valid topic.

I really think you need to do your work, go after facts, present them in a way that is understandable and relatable, I respect youtubers, because many have this skill, mine is other. I don't critic or give an opinion about the technical part of creating, editing, researching and producing a video, because is not my specific area, that's why I don't do videos, now, as a viewer, I don't need to put her in a cocoon of love and support, she is putting her opinion to others, she will receive a response, and not always is good. I don't remember this video, because I commented a while, so, I will double down on my words, it's a harsh word and sometimes it seems more and more difficult to find good, interesting and new content since if you want views and money, say some Kpop names and the cash will flow if you do right. If you put true crime and Kpop, congrats for your millions, if you can squeeze mukbang or make up, you are an unicorn that shits gold,your content will be consumed, but you just want to make a dime or you want to say somenting worthy to be listening? Change something? Have real worth? That's the difference, if you consume mediocrity, you will settle for mediocrity. But if you say to a youtuber "you can do better", because I'm pretty sure she can if she wants, people will have a problem with the challenge presented to her. Its a good topic? Yes All topics have their niche She/he can do better? Definitely, and shine a light on corners that no one did before instead of going with the flow. Like I said, if you want mediocrity you will find easily, but the ones that put real work and do the other side of this, are the ones that have more impact and survive for longer without having to ask the audience "what I should do now?" Are you doing this because you like or you are collecting numbers? One will be better than the other. Stay hydrated 💗
