Female Tears Have This Superpower #science.
Source: PMC10734982
The intriguing dynamic between public observation and scientific discovery often reveals instances where individuals notice phenomena before scientists. This phenomenon underscores the invaluable role of citizen scientists and keen observers in contributing to our understanding of the world. Here's a reflection on this symbiotic relationship: Keen Observation: Everyday individuals, driven by curiosity, possess a unique ability to keenly observe their surroundings. Accessibility of Technology: Advancements in technology provide people with tools to document and share observations instantly through social media and other platforms. Wide Distribution of Knowledge: Information dissemination has become widespread, enabling rapid sharing of observations across diverse communities. Crowdsourced Data: Citizen scientists contribute to crowdsourced data, offering a wealth of information that can lead to scientific insights. Unfiltered Perspectives: Unfiltered by scientific paradigms, everyday observers may approach phenomena with fresh perspectives, uncovering nuances overlooked by traditional scientific methods. Involvement in Natural Events: People often find themselves directly involved in natural events, such as weather anomalies or ecological changes, prompting firsthand observations. Rapid Response: The immediacy of public response allows for real-time monitoring and reporting of events, expediting the recognition of emerging phenomena. Community Collaboration: Communities, online and offline, collaborate in sharing observations, creating a network that amplifies the collective observational power. #CitizenScience #ObservationSkills #ScientificDiscovery #PublicEngagement #CommunityObservations #CrowdsourcedData #EverydayScientists #CitizenScientistCommunity #KnowledgeSharing #PublicParticipation #TechnologyAdvancements #ScientificInsights #ObservationBeforeScience #CommunityCollaboration #FreshPerspectives #ScientificContributions #DemocratizationOfKnowledge #CuriosityDriven #RapidResponse #KeenObservers #SharedDiscoveries #fyp #fypシ #medicine

I remember when I was young - about 6 years old, I can't help but cry being hit by my father with a belt. The more, and the longer I cry, the more angrier and harder he hits. I can remember his eyes filled with hate and violence. I eventually got used to always being hit and felt numb on my backside, but I kept crying, still, everytime I'm being "disciplined". He worked overseas, with my mom, so the hitting stopped. Me and my brother were looked after by our grandparents and other relatives. After they came back from years working overseas, we are a bit older, and was rarely hit, but he's still narcissistic in nature, even up to this day. He's gotten milder with age, but still so much pain in my ass - when I was a child to adulthood - because of his personality. He always said that we were lucky that's just how he hit us, because he said he experienced worse. But I, as her daughter, choose not to repeat this cycle for my own future child/children. Stop the cycle. Be different. Don't be like the person who inflicted you pain and suffering. Instead, love, love the way you wanted to be loved. And don't forget to love yourself enough to avoid people who disrespects, cause you pain, and makes you think less of yourself. You deserve better. You are better. Choose better ❤

@@Rajveerkaur34 Thank you ❤️ I'm fine now. The cycle stops with us siblings. I'm letting go of the past. I had a realization that it made me who I am today, more open-minded, compassionate, understanding of others. My pain had turned into my greatest strengths. Of course, I had also learned a great lesson to stay away from red flags. And first and foremost, direct that compassion and love towards myself first. When I heard that initially, it felt so selfish, but it is a must for a breakthrough, a change for the better.

Pretty sure it won't work on e.g. antisocial personality disorder people (what a layman would call a psychopath or a sociopath). If you develop cognitive empathy and work to know yourself and others, you should develop natural empathy. If you dont develop natural empathy from that, there's never even a chance of it happening, so it's best just to get over the fact that the empty feeling inside of you will never go away. As a dominant woman it kinda gives m the creeps to have a man "protective" of me. I would never want to be comforted. I cry a lot, but yikes. I am very protective and I want to cuddle and take care of any man I'm with. And I'm a dacryphilliac. I don't think generalizations about gender is helpful. I have had so many people say that just because I have a vagina I have to accept this dynamic and I had to learn that hey, you don't like it. It makes you sick. That's fine. There are plenty of men who want a dominant woman and want that dynamic.

I have always found tears to be a symbolic releasing of emotion, which seems to be far more cathartic and healing compared to trying to "control" & "contain". To cry is to feel and let go. Sometimes, all that needs to be done is to bear witness to our emotions and acknowledge them and let that be enough for the moment. Tears can be immensely healing.
@TheKillaShow
@TheKillaShow 4 ай бұрын
Its less a symbolic release and more of a literal release. It is literally whats happening. Crying from emotions is part of a complete hormonal response to stimulus. Its your body literally reacting and coping to your emotions simultaneously. To intentionally stop yourself from crying is to fight your nature. Which can cause issues down the line as many of us have experienced.

Wish this had worked on my abuser and my bullies at school… all it did was make him say I was faking it, my bullies and teachers treat me worse, and, ultimately, teach me that my anger is more powerful than my tears-even if only in the sense it made bullies and teachers think I was weird for it, but they still left me alone more than if I cried. Now I have a trauma thing where I /can’t/ cry in real emotional situations, even if I try and force myself. I wonder if they’re going to further their study to account for these sorts of margins of error or have any detailed hypotheses on them. It also makes you wonder why men remain aggressive towards women, even men who aren’t committing violent crimes against women. You’d think it’d go against whatever instincts produce this tear-aggression reaction for many men to treat women the way they do. Guess it just goes to show you how powerful societal influences can be in forcing roles etc. onto us.

(Please don't get offended not every person is the same, we know) being in a toxic environment where people generally don't care about each other that's what I see. There is nothing wrong with showing emotion. And some men don't know how to act when a woman cries. Because they aren't good at showing emotions. Also it depends on the relationship people have to each other. I would want to hear a man's opinion on this matter before I judge.

These past 4 years have been..... like, chipping away on my sense of self, self-esteem, confidence, and I don't feel like myself anymore, my life in paper is better but I just feel, less, less of me as a whole, I've had to change so much of me and suppress even more.

The reasons for crying are so many and so varied that it is simply stupid to try and generalise. You're crying because that's the only option you have left to win an argument, or you start crying because I wouldn't love you if you were a worm, and of course every human would feel frustrated when having to deal with that. Start crying because of normal, non-manipulative reasons, and every normal person around you will become kinder and try to help. Also, most often if someone gets angrier seeing you cry, they probably see themselves at their most hopeless point in their lives in you or something. True psychopaths are relatively rare, whereas ruined, scarred people are very common, and I'm sure more than 50% of the human population isn't ready for a relationship.

my stepdad would just get angrier and hurt me more when i cried, saying that i needed to act more mature and stop being such a baby (i was a minor back when he abused me physically and sexually, i’ve since escaped). he was the type of man to say that being on my period meant i was a woman already- and my mom just had a baby with that same man. i wish men would just have more empathy, the cycle of abuse would end of more people chose to end that cycle by choosing empathy. but since i’m a victim no one really gives a shit what i think, which is the saddest part about it all. no one really cares about us victims, we’re either used as someone else’s virtue signaling or we’re slandered and dogpiled by victim blamers looking for more people to hurt. it never ends.

I read a book on sexual trauma and it said 1 in 3 girls are sexually abused and the number 1 perpetrator is the step dad. I have about 5 close girlfriends who were all sexually abused by their step dads. when they tried to speak up they were put down. When you voice a problem you are the problem because people don’t want to recognize the truth. It’s a cover up denial tactic and has nothing to do with you. Keep sharing and seeking the help and healing you deserve. It’s out there. Your journey will help empower others to do the same.

You don’t know me, but I care. It breaks my heart when children’s lives are broken and changed by abuse. I have literally prayed that God would reveal the abusers and rescue children. I’m pretty sure I’ve never told anyone that either, so I’m not virtue signaling. I just want you to know, because there are people in the world that hate abuse and feel heartbroken for abuse victims. I can’t be the only one.

I had a very strict teacher back in school who used to monitor the exam hall. Before one of the final exams I was late to put my notes away because I was extremely stressed. He then said that I won’t receive the exam paper because of that. I was already terribly stressed and when he said that I was literally at the verge of crying when my female teacher patted my back and told me its going to be okay. That was the final straw and then I burst into tears I couldn’t contain myself. Everyone in the exam hall was staring at me. Mind you, I hate crying in front of people let alone an exam hall but that time I couldn’t control myself. He was shocked n all of a sudden came to me and told me to calm down and that he will let me take the test. After that incident he became super nice to me even outside of the exam hall.

This is pretty much the only comment section where I’m the only male lol. So I guess I’ll say this: to all of you who have seen men get more aggressive when women cry, it is probably because A) they aren’t SNIFFING the tears, like in the study and/or B) it makes them uncomfortable, and extreme emotional discomfort often will trigger a fight-or-flight response. That’s not an excuse, by the way. I personally have a “flight” response and try to avoid making the situation worse, so I attempt to calm the person down or, if there are no stakes, I leave the person alone until they feel better. People who have a “fight” response will certainly get mad or annoyed when a person cries, especially if that person cries often, but they obviously shouldn’t show even a hint of anger, since that would make the situation even worse. And of course, abuse is never tolerable. Ever. Also, being angry at a partner for something they didn’t do or something that could otherwise be brushed off and/or handled logically and appropriately, is simply unfair to them and people should never feel guilty, or told they should be ashamed, for something that can be easily moved past or something that the person didn’t do. All that aside, let’s not hate each other for over-generalizations and past experiences (men are bad because x, women are just salty because x), because that would be childish.

it’s more complicated because most men are taught to repress their emotions and therefore have no idea how to cope with their own emotions or others’ emotions. in my experience many men (and women with repressed emotions) don’t know what to do when someone cries and immediately just want it to go away, resulting in them becoming annoyed and defensive, resulting in running away or verbal aggression (basically fight or flight). the effect in the study would only work with emotionally healthy and emotionally mature men, which are sadly not the majority thanks to toxic masculinity

Calling it a 'self defense mechanism' doesn't make any sense. Adrenaline is a self defense mechanism, because it drives you and helps you to protect yourself, but crying wouldn't make for a good self defense strategy because it can only really slow you down. Narcissists get angrier when you cry because it exposes them-makes them feel shame. They can’t stand anything that makes them feel shame. So if you ever knew someone that got worse when you cried-they were likely a narcissist or something similar. Normal people stop what their doing and take a step back if they make someone cry… Usually they try to soften their tone, console them, or walk away (if appropriate). So many of us have awful stories about narcissists but it’s important to remember that they don’t react like a normal empathetic person. A lot of times a narcissist reacts in the opposite way. Another example is if you’re happy-a normal person would be happy for you, whereas a narcissist might get angry or jealous and try to tear you down or compete with you. Very interesting study though 🤓
