I’ve had 2 labors with an epidural and 2 without. And the two natural labors were so much easier recovery wise, the epidurals caused me to have back problems for years afterwards. Mozel tov on your healthy baby boy!

Your birth story gives me SO much confidence going into my labor and delivery with my 3rd! I literally had the same exact story with my second, except I was able to get a last minute, temporary epidural shot, which I highly regret doing. I wish my midwife had talked me through it a little more like yours did and talked me off the ledge. My postpartum was so hard and I hated it, so this time I plan on an unmedicated birth with a doula and midwife in the hospital and I’m so looking forward to the postpartum experience being completely different! Thank you so much!!

I had a baby about a week before you and she was my fourth but first non medicated birth. This recovery has been so much easier. My husband swears it’s because it was non medicated. He thinks because I was able to react to my body because I could feel everything instead of being totally numb and not knowing what my body needs. Who knows if that’s accurate but it makes sense to me!
@milikoshki3 жыл бұрын
had the same thought as this is at least something I've noticed, albeit entirely anecdotally!
@franciscatimm60993 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what happenw. Medication slows down your birth. A medicated birth is unnatural. I swear its inductions that cause most of it too. Makes it more likely you will need intervention
@hollyl57023 жыл бұрын
I had an epidural, but I kept my breathing going just like I had before when I was laboring unmedicated and I could still feel pressure just not pain. I felt when the baby dropped into the birth canal and I only pushed when I felt the most pressure (presumably strongest contractions). Minimal tearing. Recovery was fine. I really think the breathing and paying attention was important during the labor process.

Congratulations! I'm glad your recovery was better this time. I had my first child in November and right after I got to the hospital my water broke and then my labor progressed so fast I wasn't able to get an epidural either! I was really scared to have a natural labor but you just find the strength to get through it.
@princessbatbird3 жыл бұрын
This is why I always tell mommas even if you plan for an epidural learn and practice some coping skills because there is a chance you might not be able to get it. Also always take a high quality childbirth class and doulas are great to no matter what your birth preferences are.

Well done for making a video so soon after, haha. Definitely want to hear how you found transitioning from one to two kids and any tips. My little boy is 9 months today and I am so freakin’ scared of getting pregnant at this point, haha. We do want more but I am scared of how I will cope. We don’t have family around or any support so half pf me thinks it would be too much to handle without becoming an exhausted, overwhelmed, horrible person.
@FemmeHead3 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely more work but it was an easier transition for me if that makes sense. I’m definitely finding my stride but it helps that Theo is capable of entertaining and feeding himself.

I’m laughing so much because oh boy! What a difference between baby 1 and baby 2. I’m gonna have to go back and see if you have story time for the first baby. (I’m new here) But hearing this story makes me look back on my first birth vs my second birth. The skipping of triage totally is because they can tell you’re into active labor. I literally started stripping down naked as I was walking into my delivery room. I didn’t care who was there, if the door was shut or whatever I just had to be naked and had to pee. And was begging for an epidural in this way “GIVE ME THAT SHIIT” and then apologizing for cursing (until the next contraction and then back to cursing and apologizing) Hahaha I’m loving this story just because it went so fast which is what we all want vs a two day labor.

I’m pregnant with my second and the speed of this labor is making me anxious lol I waited until I was 6cm to get to the hospital with my first because I was not sure if I was really in labor so I’m probably going to be arriving early this time just in case hahahah ah your story is awesome though so proud of you and happy for you!!!

Please don’t let this stress you out! You’ll know when to leave for the hospital and we would have left about 30-45 minutes sooner but had to wait on Michael’s parents to get to our house to care for Theo.

So curious if you'd say the transition from 0 to 1 was harder or easier than 1 to 2! Sounds like you were sort of saying easier. I'm nervous to add more work to the work parents already do with one!
@FemmeHead3 жыл бұрын
It was easier adding a second for me. It’s definitely more work but mentally it’s been a much smoother transition.

Congratulations!! I 100% thought my 2nd was a girl too, I even packed a pink sleeper to bring baby home in...well we had another boy!! 💚 I love not finding out, it's just the best surprise!! Also, as you now know, 2nd babies fly out haha. 1st was 46.5hrs of start & stop labour, 2nd my entire induction was less than 10hrs & labour itself was like 2.5hrs haha. Your body totally feels 100x better the 2nd time too, I had absolutely 0 pain! (helps that my 2nd was 4lbs smaller than his 11lb 6oz big brother lol).

After your experiences, do you think you'd be more likely to have an unmedicated birth or epidural should you ever give birth again. I never could achieve the unmedicated birth but have 2 beautiful boys like you!
@FemmeHead3 жыл бұрын
An epidural was the perfect choice with Theo and what I needed so I can’t really say which was better. I did have a much easier recovery this time which is probably a combo of no epidural but also it being my second time giving birth.
@jillschiller49323 жыл бұрын
@@FemmeHead I agree for my first as well no regrets. With my second, I was at 4 cm when I knew it would become traumatic without one. Thanks for keeping it real.
