Good lesson to learn here is the rust will come back unless you cut and remove the panel and remove all that dirt and debris in the bracket. Im in the middle of my repair on the bottoms of the fenders and glad I stumbled on this chanel. Really fine job of showing all the steps including backside panel prep, support prep and drain hole. One can see this is the right way to permenantly fix these panel bottoms. Great job of controlling your heat on the mig. I can sit and watch you work all day. You will never starve with your mad skills. Vids like this keeps us energized and working on our old trucks.

Very neat job :) I have a question tho. At 12:22 , have you applied something on the metal (against rust) before welding it? And if so, isnt welding it, just going to burn it through exactly where the weld is, leading to rust, eventually? Thank you in advance for your time.
@Gibson63.6 жыл бұрын
If your talking about metal to metal I’ve tried several things before,weld through primer, or epoxy, but you’re right the welds we’ll burn through Whatever you put on it.i will epoxy everything down real good spray some rust encapsulator/undercoating all in these Areas,I did brush on some rust encapsulated thanks

This looks like the same goodmark patch I bought. The convex portions along the wheel have a sharp fold in it. Nothing like the factory curved surface. That is irritating my fender was decent along that perimeter so I cut it off and just used the flat metal. What a waste. A couple of years ago I bought a rocker and sill the oas l was too short inside and out. Not sure what the point is of stamping something that is kind of like what you need.
