Without watching this, I would have done this differently, but now that I see how you do it, you are definitely doing it in a way to ensure that it comes out as close to original as possible. Fantastic! Thanks for the videos.

I have an heirloom 1979 c10 big ten that I got from my grandfather. He was a supervisor up in the mines in Leadville, Colorado so you can imagine how rusty the truck is. I have baking pans for floor pans... seriously. Everyone I talked to said to chalk it up as a lose. I bought a Handler 140 mig welder 4 years ago. I've been scared sh*less to start grinding and welding. After watching your videos I feel confident enough to get going! Thanks for the simple, informative videos

Aside from this man’s obvious skill and work ethic what makes this guy extraordinary is his attention to detail, organization, and problem solving with the end result constantly in mind - CLEARLY and undeniably comes from his framing/construction experience.........to those anaware - you blow it while framing a house - you create all kinds of problems as the house gets completed.........probably unbeknownst to this humble guy, He has A VERY serious and UNIQUE Set of talents coming together to create brilliance......which every aspiring craftsman should learn..... Best brother....

I looks like it works flawless ! So as long as there isn't priior work done to the door or fender and you want to keep the factory line like yje one that you have !!!!

Have you ever used the oxy acetylene method for welding body panels? I've even heard people using the brazing method, you know using the bronze instead of just plain old steel. What is your take on that?
@Gibson63.10 жыл бұрын
I've only used the mig welder on welding never used anything else thanks for watching

Why not finishweldung the outer panel after you get the inner brace fitted that way you can properly finish out the inner surfaces of the patch.i would not recommend undercoating but a high quality epoxy primer .

I did never understand people like this gentleman people buy full new panels instead replacing whole panel they cut and use half or quarter why not replacing whole thing
@ThePopularDelusion10 жыл бұрын
I can say firsthand its several reasons. 1) when doing a full resto, patches are much cheaper than panels. & panels don't always fit right. 2) the preference to keep as much original steel as possible. 3) anyone can replace a panel, but it takes craftsmanship to patch old steel. I happen to LOVE the craftsmanship.
@waltercroft99118 жыл бұрын
64impalaSS Also just think about all the material he saves for the next job.

Why cut out as much as possible when you can just weld in a new patch and save a lot more money
