I’ve been to visit the Fender factory twice, flown from Aus to LA to visit, emailed them and checked the schedule and all was good. Then, on both occasions when I arrived on the day I was told, ‘Ahh, we’ve decided to close early this year’, ‘oh sorry, we’re doing an upgrade’. All things that could have been passed on to me earlier, before I flew half way around the world to visit. I have quite a few Fender products. - guitars and Amps and was so disappointed in their engagement with me. Glad they took the time to take you guys through. It has saved me another attempt. It took me a long time to buy another Fender. But one thing I have noticed is the differences between the Fender and Gibson factories at the moment. There seems to be a lot more attention to detail and overall professionalism going on at the Gibson Factory in the last few years (their prices probably reflect that too 😂). I think with any company and management this will ebb and flow, but Fender needs to start to clean up their act, stop taking customers for granted.

That's a tough one and I am so sorry to hear that! Things like this have even happened to us and boy oh boy...that gets me as well. So my apologies for those circumstances. And an Australian to boot...y'all are the best, shucks! I think they are killing at at Fender at the moment but you are for sure right. As the corporate structures change above, so does the flow below. Fingers crossed for both of those iconic companies!

They did that to you because they don’t want you to see how they EXPLOIT cheap labor that comes from the border. It’s true I PROMISE! 90% of fenders production workers are illegals that can’t speak a word of English. I know for a fact. Fender like many companies exploit undocumented people and use them for cheap labor. They did. Not want you to see it. That is the reason. I’ll bet anything on it.

The same thing happened to me in 2021. I checked the Fender website and it appeared that the tour was still available. Got there and was told by an employee that tours were no longer done due to Covid. Needless to say, we were disappointed and having been a lifelong Fender owner I was pissed. I should have called first.

Legendary experience. I've watched a couple of these walkthrus (Andertons and one other KZbinr) and the amazing part is, I pickup new info and details every time. Just shows you how much work and unique craftsmanship is spent making these amazing instruments. Thank you Casino for this (I watched it twice ;-). Like going to Wonka's Chocolate Factory and seeing how the magic is made!

What a great video tour. This one is the best FCS video tour so far on KZbin. I bet you guys wanted to get a better look inside the relic area too. Ah, well, secret sauce and all that. Anyway, seeing all that storied craftsmanship, extra attention to detail/QC, and mojo gives me so much more appreciation for my FCS dealer select strat. And never mind the detractors posting here. Basic economics is hard for most people.

I have seen a Jointer kill before; it was not pleasant. Board slips out of the grip or guide and flies back and will stick in your head. Even several feet away. You NEVER walk behind past that when it is turned on. While cutting wood or not. When it is turned off, then you can proceed. That was a day in high school I will never forget.

Using fire hose for clamps is awesome. First saw that on the Gibson acoustic guitar videos in Bozeman with Ren Ferguson. Videos are still up last I checked. Think it was around 2007. Fender plant is bigger but I had a better vibe watching the G&L build. Thinking Warmoth as I want a wider neck. So this is in Corona right?

I love my fenders and warmoths so much. I dropped a lespaul once... yeah headstock. my friend set my mustang on a subpar stand and it fell off a 2nd story deck. onto grass dented the grass and got a green skid mark needed a bit of a tune , was totally fine hahaha. also . sick of your fender but love the neck? throw it on another one it'll be grand. or trade out your neck with almost what ever you can find with a fender on the headstock. I dont condone that behavior with custom shops, although i did convert my mustang to 16 inch radius with ss frets 2 p90 sized hums (super distortion and DLX+) evh hh minitoggle 1 vol wiring used the volume slot for the toggle the push/pull tap vol in the middle and input 3rd hole Burgundy mist with a custom green racing stripe and a sanded back tung oiled neck soooooo is it custom?...yes . shop no

Great video but that’s NOT a custom shop. It’s just a regular fender factory but on a 1/10th scale. Good to know not to spend that ridiculous money on fender “custom” shop guitars though. Kudos to the skilled, long time workers there and I admire their craftsmanship but fender is on crack with those prices for basically normal assembly line instruments. So commie, how much do you think one of these custom shop guitars should cost? Before ya make an ass out of yourself, do the math starting with the labor costs! The facility and materials cost. Top wood and nitro finishes! Production and custom assembly is totally different and if you can't see it you are a bleep. For starters, for the most part, each guitar is special ordered with specific details. A production assembly line is a designed guitar model that is mass produced! There are no variants, The CNC machines are programmed, all the parts are bought, put in bins and the production workers assemble them. Totally different from customer ordered spec guitars. That is why they cost double and triple what an American pro II costs. No different than a mass produced assembly line automobile compared to an German or italian made custom sports car. Again, how much should fender charge for a custom shop guitar inside your communist mind? 500, 1000, 1500? HAHA!

They are able to do all this “old school stuff” at a larger economy of scale. They are able to fulfill lots of custom orders from dealers. They are able to fulfill custom orders from individual customers also. This is a professional operation that’s been around for multiple decades, learning and growing year over year. Yeah I like the fact that there’s a human touch here. It justifies the price to me. There’s something nice about perfectly CNCed necks and fingerboards, but there’s also something nice about a guitar that has a bit more handiwork put into it. Each guitar has a little life and personality of its own instead of being quite so cookie cutter. Very cool to see a lot of the faces and experience behind the guitars here.

PRS Private Stock might offer a fancier inlay, or a more rare piece of wood, but that doesn’t de-legitimize Fender’s Custom Shop. Both can be “custom” to varying degrees. And both can inspire a player to continue doing the most important thing- just playing guitar :)

Running a planer or jointer is something we did in jr. high school shop class when I was a kid. Nowadays it's terrifying for the owner of Casino guitars to even imagine operating? Building guitars isn't rocket science. To not understand the operation of a common woodworking machine like a jointer. Strikes me as highly odd? Am I that old? Baxter has to be nearly my age?

Let me educate you. It's called temporary employees! You are hired as a temp to fill a production demand and It's clearly stated when you are hired. When the demand is met, you are dismissed. This happens in all types of manufacturing. I worked for a German firearms manufacturer and there was an incredible boom after the Sandy Hook shooting and they had to hire 15 TEMP production workers to keep up with demand. Guess what happened when the demand was met? BYE BYE! ha

Why do people say Fender Mexico is junk and USA made is so much better? It’s obvious from this video that a good portion of the custom shop workers appear to be Mexican. They just live a few hours north of Ensenada otherwise they would be working there doing the same quality work that they do in Corona. not sure anyone says its junk offhand. maybe some do. anyhow, it's not just where the workers live. it's the materials and components chosen, and the amount of time the worker is allowed to spend on each step. it doesn't mean you can't find a good example of a MIM guitar. it just means you are more likely to find that custom shop examples are at a higher level more often.

It’s a pity they never checked the radius on my custom shop nocaster headstock. The corner radius is far too rounded off. In hindsight I should have not bought the guitar. It looks crap

Custom shop is just a marketing joke , it’s just another assembly line really , be smart buy a regular guitar
