Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass has been restored.
No, it's cool. When it arrives, it's cool.
have become.
I'm also a bassist, so the excitement of having a good base is irresistible.
It was in a wonderful condition when it arrived.
The frets had turned green, the pegs were facing away, there was no screw plating, and they were rusted and black.
I'm glad that the guitar and the bass with their arms ring after a long time have come.
The more I do it, the more I am impressed when I fix it.

木のタッピングビスを再度締め込む時に、逆回転させ元のネジ山に合わせている所。しっかりした工具、電ドラのクラッチ設定など、素材を無駄に痛めない本当に丁寧な作業で、最後まで気持ち良く見させて頂きました。

This video is the proof that you don’t have to talk to let the audience know what you are doing… If images speaks by themselves, you succeeded, and you did, because this video speaks by itself ! Relaxing not hearing peoples repeating the same thing over and over… just listen and enjoy ! 👏

That was a joy to watch. You ended up with a beautiful bass. I'd have changed the scratch plate, for some reason, that 'jam tart' colour doesn't work for me. I added chrome pick up covers to mine and re-strung it with flat wounds. I prefer the sound to roundwounds. Thoroughly enjoyed your video.

使い込まれたベースですね。若かりし頃に薦められたカスタムショップのベースは今でも買っておけば良かった、と後悔しています。このベースは色合いも良く、同じフェンダーでも格の違いを感じます。しかもAndyさんにrestoreされて羨ましいです。

Cleaning and polishing isn’t ruining the aging on this bass. It’s making it more enjoyable to play and easier to adjust.

what on earth has happened to the finish behind the neck plate? It looks as if it has melted

It takes nitro about 6 weeks to fully cure. Probably, the neck plate was installed prior to that.

Is this restoration or un-relicing? Fender CS charges an extra $800 for what you took off.

Relicing a guitar is a monkey business, let them wear and age naturally. Still, he did not make the bass look brand new, it still looks old but well taken care of.

Back in 1998, the Custom Shop was not doing relics, only Vince Cunetto aged bodies and necks for them. Those had stamped logos, not decals. This particular one looks like is from a Sam Ash order of 6 basses, based on what the back of the headstock and the neck heel show.

I suppose the customer is always right, but undoing goes relic work on a $4000 CS bass seems wrong to me.
