I have the original hotrod and the IV... The IV is definitely different... warmer and smoother sounding and a touch darker sounding. If you prefer bright, then you’d probably like the original hotrod better. The original is also clearer sounding. I play them both together. I prefer the IV
@saintjabroni4 жыл бұрын
What year is the "IV" from that you speak of?
@nsc2174 жыл бұрын
Saint Jabroni I got it last yr in 2019... I don’t know when it was made though... Why would that make a difference?
@saintjabroni4 жыл бұрын
@@nsc217 It just would... Like a Ford Mustang made in 2019 versus in 2018, and so on. A more relatable example: early 90s Zildjian New Beat hi-hats differ in tonality (those are considerably dark in tone) than earlier and later years.
@nsc2174 жыл бұрын
Saint Jabroni I gotcha... Well lucky for you they just came out in 2018... So probably still sound the same if you buy one now... If you buy one now also, it could have been in stock for over a yr... They stopped making them when I wanted to buy one brand new, straight from the factory

@@nsc217 Thanks for the response. I meant to say or should've said: "It just could", as my first response to you. Unfortunately I missed out on the DeVille deal I was eyeballing this morning, the whole reason I was in here asking questions. -____- I'm gonna get a vintage Yamaha amp instead most likely. Maybe some other time, Fender! (NOTE TO SELF: WHEN YOU SEE A DEAL, LOCK IT THE FUCK IN, ASAP!!!!!)

Great tone and nice Santana sounding riff on the fade out. Wonder how the Hot Rod Deluxe compares to my Super Champ X2 - is it too loud for home use?

Rick, I've watched your Fender vids for years and have learned a great deal. I'm a little bit on the fence right now concerning which tube amp I want to solo gig with, and because of Tony Joe White's influence for years, I'm leaning toward the Hot Rod DeVille 212...and with a name like that, I'm pulled in like a whirlpool. Besides that, it sounds like the amp I'd like to have at the end of my guitar cord. I believe it's going to be the DeVille 212 because I can hear myself in it. Thank you for playing this vid in a manner in which I would actually play as opposed to showing off, because it's the amp, not the hot licks like so many vids have, that I'm interested in. Youv'e just sold an amp. Thank you!

Should have been played separately and with the same guitar on the same settings on the guitar so that you could tell what they actually sound like Generally though these are good guitar videos this could have been none a little better though

I've made a poll at the Stratocaster owners group in Facebook for selecting between HRIV , Katana Artist and Mustang GT 200... One answer won... The Fender Hotrod have Soul... The others are nice but the HRIV got 200+ votes, the Katana 12 and the GT200 3...
@fernandom.79566 жыл бұрын
if you're going to play blues the hot rod is fine, but if you're going to play more versatile rock the boss kat is better. The katana boss eats the pedals very well.
@williamlittlefield47493 жыл бұрын
I play blues, hard rock, punk, and pretty much anything I want with the HRD ... it’s a pedal platform after all! You can also get different sounds by pairing it with various cabs ... I put a Warehouse ET65 in the amp and have a 1x12 with a Veteran 30; a 2x12 with a pair of Invaders; and a 4x12 with Veteran 30s and Invaders

K ... I am literally just a few hours from picking up my new Fender Deluxe IV. I came across this very cool, helpful & enjoyable video. But ... as a marketing guy ... I have to chuckle. The artists in photos and posters on the wall in the background include Jimmy Page (uh ... Marshalls most of the time), Peter Frampton (Marshalls) and Metallica (Mesa Boogies & Marshalls according to Google). Of course I won't change my Fender amp order as it is spot on for what I play. The Marshall single 12 was a pretty close second though. I play significantly more clean so the Fender wins. I just thought it was kind of funny. I know. Get a life. Right? ; )

Back to the drawing board! They sound great until you try for high gain on the More Drive channel. It sounded like a bad solid state Drive channel.

Ive had a Champion 100 for 3 years and I want an all tube amp. I want the new hot rod Deville IV because of the 212 but will it bee too loud for home use? I really like the tone of 212 vs 112. but I'm afraid 60watts vs 40 watts will be an overkill. keep in mind my neighbors are suuuuuper chill they dont mind noise but Im sure I can get a decent tone at decent volume when used at home. what do y'all think?

maybe get a volume pedal for the effects loop
@joerinaldi_music6 жыл бұрын
im in the same situation as you haha
@natesenft53764 жыл бұрын
I have one. As long as you keep it below like 2.5 it’ll be fine. There is also a little thing you can buy that goes in the effects loop for volume. I have the deville 3 though... I love it but it keeps making a crackling sound. I think it’s just my tubes I’m not sure
@tochiromifune4196 жыл бұрын
Interesting. How does the clean channel on the HR Deluxe compares to a Princeton or a Deluxe Reverb?
@nsc2174 жыл бұрын
Tochiro Mifune Completely different amps. The Princeton and Deluxe Reverb are a touch dryer sounding and brighter. I prefer the hot rod because it’s warmer sounding. Not vintage Fender sounding if that’s what you’re looking for

I’ve got a 4/10 Deville. Blues that is. It’s goddam impossible to control. It goes from 0- Nuclear in one notch. I love the amp don’t get me wrong. I bought that JHS black box thing and that’s ok but it breaks up way too much if you want a loud(but not too loud) clean. I’m told a 12AT7 ? Anyone know about that.
@javierf556 жыл бұрын
Too loud for home use?
@abetteryou20255 жыл бұрын
Deluxe is fine with a cushion in front of the amp
@rdrake3164 жыл бұрын
Power attenuator or pull the V2 positions valve and replace with a 12AT7, I suggest a Mullard.

You can get a master volume to plug into the effects loop for $25 off ebay

Just turn it down lol
@williamlittlefield47493 жыл бұрын
No master volume - if you’re playing below 4 then you’re not getting the full picture ... I use a volume plug and crank it to 6-7 edge of break up and use the plug to get the volume down for home/stage
