LOL, My Son purchased this very same guitar because he is a big Sonic Youth fan. BTW, great guitar after we switched to a Mastery Bridge, SD Antiquity II pickups and a new set of Vintage style tuners. A great guitar with it's own vibe and tone, it also sounds great through a cranked Marshall.

@@tw8454 So very, very true T W. LOL, at the time I made that comment I'd only owned my Marshall a month or so. I've an old 1987x I had modded and converted to vintage Plexi era specifications (new OT Tx and a PPI MV). What I found out was that all these years I'd been chasing down the wrong Rabbit Hole in search of Tone. I think I've tried every pickup brand under the Sun. With the Marshall just about every guitar/pickup sounds great (IMHO). So all of my Fender and Gibson guitars have been switched back to the stock pickups, and I couldn't be happier.

I just bought one at a resale shop in Japan. They only wanted $650 but I asked does it have a case. The guy said "No sorry " so I asked for a discount...walked out with it for $520. It is so mint! The pick guard still had the protective film on it. New strings and boom! Beautiful music. I love it!

wow man that sounds awesome! what Color is it??, im a huge japanese jazzmaster and jaguar player, i have one of each, bought them both used for 500. My jag is from 93 so it had some beauty wear on it, but the neck is one of the nicest ive played on. My Jazzmaster is from 03. Candy apple red, my lady lol. If in the future u do a mod, get a mustang bridge, unless ur not and aggressive player and strings dont pop out on u lol, for me the original bridge was good but im aggressive lol.

I love my MIJ Jazzmaster, it's surf green with a matching headstock. But, when you get one, keep in mind that you'll need to change the pots and input jack, as the Japanese ones really don't do the guitar justice. New pickups and an American tremolo aren't a must, but after I added those as well, this has become my favourite axe. Cheers

Most distinctive differences would be different pickups and the 9.5 inches fretboard radius and medium-jumbo frets of the Classic Player. And of course, different inlays-neck binding on the Japanese '66.

I seriously want this exact guitar but can't seem to find it anywhere?!?! The sunburst, best looking Jazzmaster headstock I've seen, love the block inlays, the tremolo system what I'd want (I've seen Fender making some of these cheaper, non-American made Jazzmasters with just a hard tail bridge - no trem system, what's that?!). Maybe could use a pickup upgrade here but really not necessary. And made in Japan speaks better to me than the mim versions for some reason. Come on pgs, where is this...?

Well, the Japanese Fenders are pretty, and this Jazzmaster sounds nice, but why did they make the neck radius on ALL the Japanese models (not just the Thinline Tele's) 7.25"? The normal 9.5" neck radius is tight enough, and hard to get decent bends w/out jumbo frets. Instead, they should've increased the radius to a comfortable 12" or left it at 9.5" and added jumbo frets. I love Fender guitars for their bright wound strings and the 25.5" scale length most have, but they need to widen the neck radius. I bought a US Strat Deluxe to get the compound-radius fretboard, (9.5-14") but I would prefer a set radius of 12". I guess the small radius is good for rhythm work, but Andy had to practically bend the string off the neck to get a full bend.
@ceruleanstone11 жыл бұрын
Because the original Jazzmasters (and Teles, Strats, Mustangs, etc.) from the '60s were all 7.25". This is meant to be a reissue. But I agree: 9.5" or 12" is better.
@mekore11 жыл бұрын
japanese hands... mind you
@treblinkalovescene11 жыл бұрын
I honestly prefer 7.25" and 9.5" to 12.
@AVeil-ml4eh11 жыл бұрын
treblinkalovescene Hey, nothing wrong with that. I wish I felt comfortable w/that radius, because I like Thinline Tele's & these new Japanese RI's are very nice. But Everyone's hands and playing styles are different. Also, the frets play a big role in bending comfort, too--I might prefer a 9.5" radius w/jumbo frets over a 12" radius w/smaller frets. I do think necks can be made too flat, and then you have nothing to "push against" to get those bends. Guitars are 1 thing I don't like to buy without 1st playing, because really the specs are just guidelines & if the guitar feels right to me, I don't care about specs--and vice versa.
