Probably my ultimate dream guitar right there. I've settled for modding my Epiphone LP Special with those pickups.

How does it sound? Currently saving for this, as anytime I try alternate tunings it sounds awful, lose muddy gurgle and that's playing System, haven't even ventured near Drop B/A for the slipknot shit Do I need beefier strings? I play 10s just think the Epi Special was not made for this kind of abuse haha
@Merjia2 жыл бұрын
@@ReprobateMind it sounds bloody killer. I’ve got it set with 13-56 strings and managed to get it to hold Drop B. If you’re still on stock pickups that’d be why, they’re not exactly made for that kind of play.
@ReprobateMind2 жыл бұрын
@@Merjia sweet man I might get a pair while I'm saving up, Do the clean up nice or is it purely for distorted madness? Also are they passive? Or do they need a battery? And do you swap the pots out or cut off the connector? Sorry for all the questions I had a look before and couldn't find anything on these JRs going into an epiphone n since you have the same guitar as me n did the mod I had to ask haha
@Merjia2 жыл бұрын
@@ReprobateMind all good dude! Nah they’re fully active pickups, so need a battery. And EMG include a full solderless wiring kit so everything just kind of snaps together. Only really difficult part is the jack and the selector switch but that’s not too hard to figure out.
@Merjia2 жыл бұрын
@@ReprobateMind oh and yes! They clean up so well. They’re part of EMGs “RetroActive” range. Where they’re kind of halfway between a passive and an active in terms of tone.

no way copyright police will get you for just playing riffs, its not the original recordings, Rabea and Matt do the artists riffs all the time for andertons

I’m on the fence of getting the v4 or going on a waiting list for the previous model with regular EMGs. $600 more for made in America is kinda tempting.

I own this exact model. And the ONLY thing I had to change was filing the nut in order to for my 11s. Other than that…oh my lord is this guitar fucking amazing. It’s slightly heavy…but that slab of mahogany gives me some of the best sounds I’ve ever had. And Jim’s new pickups…it took some time for me to get used to them…but once I did…god damn do I love them. Super hot while still being extremely articulate and clear. Then roll the volume back and you get super glassy and clear clean tones. Super classy looking with the block inlays and beautiful white finish. The neck is so fast playing and perfect feeling. The balance is perfect whether sitting or standing. Holds any tuning I’ve thrown at it perfectly with the locking tuners. All in all…this is my ride or die bitch and every other guitar I own has taken a backseat since October of last year. My next purchase will be either Jim’s tele or his new Charvel. That…and a rockerverb lol

I grew up playing LP-styles only and with this, if you get used to how flat the top is, it’s SO much fun to play and the shape didn’t really bother me.

Great video as always. I have a question, those pickups that it comes with work or sound good to play clean. I mainly use Fender guitars for that but I liked this model for all the specifications that it has are very good. Where the battery goes I don't like anything it can be a nuisance. Greetings from Spain.

Jims new EMGs are very widely ranged man. They can do everything from brutal death metal while being able to dial back to super glassy clean tones. I own this exact model and I can play anything I want. Flipping up to the neck pickup and rolling the volume back to around 6-7 gives you such a beautiful warm glassy tone.
@rockstarcoder2 жыл бұрын
great video! I recently bought one. Is the 2 notes what is giving such a deep tone? My amp doesn't have that deep metal tone with this guitar... if it is the 2 tone getting that deep tone in the dirty setting, what were your settings? thank you!

I bought one and just returned it because its made in Mexico and the build quality was dogshit. Sharp edges. Frett Buzz and a chip where you'd raise the action. Should have bought the American made for extra money!!!!!!

“Tone wood” in an electric is a myth. The tone comes from the wires, pickups and finally the amp. Tone comes from the AMP not wood. It’s not an acoustic.
