Interesting. You could do a test and record into Garageband, for example. In Garageband, you should be able to adjust the input gain of the signal. Give that a try. I'm not sure in voice memos as I think it is recording at line level. Additionally, you could try increasing the volume knob on the Mustang, though, I think it would not have an affect on the USB output. Hope that helps.

Update! As of iOS 17. This video should probably be updated, because iOS changed audio connections. Here are detailed steps to make it work with lightning apple devices: 0. Disconnect everything from everything. If something goes wrong, start over and disconnect everything. iOS and the mustang keep configuration until disconnect. If all these steps fail, fully charge your mustang micro first then try again. 1. Connect a power supply to the camera adapter (AC power or battery) -> lightning port on the camera adapter. 2. Connect ONLY the power-supplied camera adapter to the iPhone/iPad. 3. Wait 2-3 seconds for the iPhone/iPad to recognize charging, look for the charging icon on the battery. 4. Now connect ONLY the squared USB-A end to the camera adapter (NOT the mustang micro yet). 5. Make sure the mustang micro is OFF. Flip it over and watch the light above MODIFY. Watch the MODIFY light for 1-2 brief red flashes (then nothing). If you see repeats of red flashes iOS won't mount it as an audio device, start over. 6. While watching MODIFY, plug the USB-C end to the mustang micro. You shouldn't see repeats of red flashes if you got the order above correct. 7. Flip the mustang micro over and check that the light is yellow (charging) or green. If not, start over. 8. Now connect the TRS 1/4". 9. Turn on the mustang micro. 10. Good to go. Record. For USB-C Apple Devices, use a USB C-C cable. Test your cable to make sure it transfers data, some are charging only. For example, plug a USB-C iPhone 15 into a usb-c port on a mac -- does it show up in Finder? Then yes the cable works with data transfer. The only reason the mustang micro needs power is to charge its battery. When the mustang micro is fully charged, some of these steps can be skipped because it doesn't ask to be charged when connected to iOS -- which lets iOS mount it as an audio device.

@OllieLoops thanks for the vid. I was finally able to connect my guitar to iPhone and GarageBand. The next hurdle is now how to record and monitor without recording the metronome to my track. Can't seem to find a way around this. It appears to be that all sound coming into GarageBand from mustang micro includes all the sound going out of Garageband and then back in with my guitar form the micro... so all the other recorded tracks are being rerecorded with the incoming signal from the mustang micro... Any ideas?

@OllieLoops9 ай бұрын
There’s no reason you couldn’t record guitar and put out music using this device. It’s basically the same as an audio interface but more portable and with built in effects. An audio interface will provide you with more options to record, monitor and possibly higher audio quality. But the Mustang is great if you are just recording guitar and what the travel. Hope that helps.

I think it is possible, but if depends on a few things. Set the Mustang Micro as an input on your computer in the audio settings. Connect headphones to the computer to monitor through. I don't know what app you use for your guitar lessons, but if you can configure the settings to use an audio input on the computer, you should be able to select the Mustang as an input. Now, the tricky part may be that you are likely using a microphone to talk to your instructor, which means that's likely the input for the app. You might be better off just playing the Mustang into a small speaker via its headphone output so that the microphone can hear it. Hope that helps.

How does it work for android

I haven't tried it on Android, but I suspect it's a similar experience.

I put it all together including the official Apple camera connector but when I record it records with no effects - no idea what I’m doing wrong. Any suggestions?

how are you recording, what's your setup?
@gaj900272 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply! Recording to the voice memo app on iPhone. I tried snapping my fingers next to the iPhone and sure enough its picking up the sounds of the strings directly instead of through the mustang.

Not sure why the microphone on iPhone isn’t turning off
@OllieLoops2 жыл бұрын
@@gaj90027 to clarify, voice memos records the finger snap or sound coming through the pickups of the guitar but without effects?
@OllieLoops2 жыл бұрын
also, assuming you mean voice memos on an iphone not the ipad. If you're only able to record audio from the mic, likely you are not providing enough power to the Mustang Micro because the phone doesn't provide enough on it's own. Connect a power supply to the Camera kit to power the Mustang Micro. Hope that helps.

There is an easier way than uses just 1 USB C to USB C micro Mustang > phone,then download a USB recorder app,ive Also managed to get it into a looper that has a USB c input for recording

Not sure I follow. It depends on what phone you have and what connection it has.

How is there not a simpler way to record into an iPhone already. If someone could in-line all of this nonsense into a single cable that would be great. This thing is a joke

Just get a lightning audio interface and skip this unreliable tangled mess. With that many connection, one of them is bound to have an issue. The camera connection kit tends to drop signal. And those USB power boxes are unreliable as heck. A cheap audio interface with stock lightning connections gets this all done with two cables.
@OllieLoops9 ай бұрын
That may work for some, but may be more expensive and to record to your iPhone would still require a way to power the interface.

@raptthevirtualband5710 Жыл бұрын
The Mustang Micro is the best for what it is actually for, a headphone amp with 12 different amp simulations and 13 effects. This is just showing how you can record with it although it's not ideal. What is ideal is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface.
@Lansdownmedia Жыл бұрын
Absolutely ridiculous amount of things needed to record. Should just be able to record over Bluetooth
@OllieLoops Жыл бұрын
Recording over BT would be awesome. But BT has inherent latency, which you likely don’t want when playing the guitar and listening via the Mustang.
