I really like this conceptually speaking. As I start to downsize my collection I think it could fill quite a few gaps left by the sell off. My only hesitation is how easy it will be to repair in the event something fizzled out electronically? Almost forgot… Jack always kills it.

One thing I don't get about all the haters of this is that I believe they think it should sound like a acoustic guitar in front of a very nice microphone. Instead, this is supposed to sound like an acoustic guitar that is plugged in. At best, many amplification systems often sound so-so. This, however, to my ears, sounds like a very nicely balanced and eq'd pickup from an acoustic. Not perfect, but there are so many applications in which this would sound nice. Remember when Ovations first came out? They sounded thin and quacky but everyone rushed out to perform and record with them. Don't rush to judgment.

Fender have been developing this series for decades now but pick up technology has advanced in leaps and bounds . I first played an acoustic tele in early 2000 . I remember I had a chance to buy one..when I went back the next day it was sold. I like the jazz body more for this format for sure tho ...

For my purposes, I think I would prefer a piezo bridge on a true electric guitar with dual outputs (or a stereo cable to split at the pedal board) and a floor unit to handle the acoustic model processing and switching. I don't know that I would need 8 different acoustic models switchable on my guitar and only variations of gain on one electric model. Maybe next year's iteration offers two electric pickups (tappable bridge humbucker and neck single) and has separate switching for acoustic and electric tones? This single output system leaves you stuck with less favorable tone with either the acoustic or electric tones depending on your choice (acoustic amp, electric amp, or direct).

I am completely changing the comment that I posted a month ago or so. I was singing the praises of my acoustic guitar emulator pedal, which I believed did a very nice job. Then I went to jam with a friend who is a very accomplished fingerpicked who plays a high-end tailor guitar, and I realized that my electric guitar with the emulator pedal sounded terrible Next to his instrument. So I sold one of the guitars that I never play and Purchased a jazz master Acoustasonic Just to give it a chance. Holy shit! I have since gig with it and played it through the evening. It sounds incredible, it plays beautifully, and I can put light strings on it, and still get a full and rich tone and the ability to bend notes more easily. If you haven’t tried one of these, don’t knock it. The proof is in the pudding. If you record with or perform with an acoustic guitar, there is now only one choice. What’s more fantastic about this is that these are very cheap on the used market. I got mine with a jazzmaster hardshell case and 10 sets of strings for $1000. The instrument was virtually unplayed, literally flawless. I’ve been putting 3 to 4 hours a day on it And have been inspired by it musically. I have never been a fan offender guitars, but this one is truly one of the greatest electric guitars and acoustic guitars ever made.

Lovely playing as always Jack, and an eloquent presentation as well...as for the guitar, for me it's "neither fish nor fowl" - which I suppose is the point...unfortunately that leaves it sounding like the cross-pollinated, mutant freak of a guitar that it is - i.e. not so great

Are they really going to issue one standard Fender guitar shape for Acoustasonic line once every year? Lol
@DarClaude3 жыл бұрын
@MrMEVgaming Great comment! Worth remembering though they've been re-issuing the Broadcaster since 1950 which has gone quite well for them!
@emilxert3 жыл бұрын
@@DarClaude to me it looks weird, why wouldn’t they release all of these shapes at one time
@DarClaude3 жыл бұрын
@@emilxert yeah good point, I expect the boffins have worked out you can sell more of them if you only release one model each year. I've not played one of these and I dont think they sound great from the demos (albeit listening through my phone which is possibly why to be fair), but a mate has the one they brought out a few years back, before the acoustasonic (they've done this idea already and renamed it!) and I've played that unplugged and you know what, even though it looks like a tarts handbag it felt really really great to sit and play on the sofa and I did not want to put it down!

But who are these Acoustasonic series guitars aimed at, rich buskers? They are way over priced, 999 would be a fairer starting point I feel.
@garettj52573 жыл бұрын
I remember seeing countless comments for a cheaper version of the strat when it came out. Then they came out with the exotic ones that were twice the price lol
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
They are aimed at the same people who buy the Taylor T5. These are exactly the same price as the least expensive T5 model, and were designed by the same person. Perhaps one day Fender will make a less expensive version in Mexico, but considering that the T5 has been in production since 2005 and Taylor has never seen the need for a lower priced Mexican version I seriously doubt Fender will either.

I'm a solo guitar player/singer. I play on Mackinac Island every summer. I loop my rhythms and solo over them. Dinner crowds. I am going to buy either this or an Emerald Virtuo. This would be very handy for what I do.
@tonyjackson45012 жыл бұрын
Too many people miss the point with the Acoustasonic. It is designed for electric players who need to produce a convincing acoustic tone without the hassle of dealing with a true acoustic instrument. I own the exact guitar in this demo (same color, same everything). Playing live, the audience is convinced I am playing an acoustic and that’s all that matters. If I still did studio work the same would hold true. I play it with my electric tube amp through my pedalboard. Easy. It plays equally well through my Walrus ACS1 with no adjustments. Fender hit a home run and it’s a bargain for a working musician at its current price.

i actually like how this looks but the sound is mediocre at best. tries to be both electric and acoustic at the same time and doesn't do either well enough to justify it's price
@charlesbolton84713 жыл бұрын
I happen to agree that these Acoustasonics aren’t very good at either though this one does sound slightly better than the Strat or Tele versions. However, the price is justified by the facts that they are made in the USA, R & D was a substantial cost, and they have outsold Fender’s original sales goals.
