@@theguitaristas it's hard to tell from the video, but I'm pretty sure that is blonde white. Any pink tint is almost certainly due to the pine rather than the finish. Once applied, a lot of wood makes finish appear to change color. Personally, I think that the color is fine, but the weight alone is definitely enough to warrant sending it back.

A few months ago I went into a guitar store near me and they had Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster and Esquire, both butterscotch. I tried them both extensively in the store and went back and forth a bunch of times to compare the two. I wound up buying the Esquire and I absolutely love it. I can't remember noticing a weight difference but I felt like the Esquire had a twangier sound, and I didn't really miss not having the neck pickup. It just felt better overall for some reason. Very happy with my decision. Plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. If you see one around, grab it!

I have the same model in TV Yellow or butterscotch blonde I think they call it. I love it. The pickups are great, fret work impeccable. Only negative is the weight, which came as a surprise to be honest, but pine body to capture that early 50's Tele vibe so to be expected I guess. Honesty one of my favorite guitars in my collection.

I have the CV 50s in white with a black guard. The color appears to be a pearl essence white. I dropped in a Seymour Duncan quarter pound tele bridge pickup, and a Gibson p-90 in the neck. New Emerson wiring, and pots. As Is my regular custom I put in a 4 way switch. Mine came with a bone nut. I didn’t care for the steel barrel saddles, and replaced them with large brass ones. Locking tuners completed the build. It’s now one of my favorite telecasters.

Be fair, that’s probably not a bad price for 10lb of salmon ;-) Not in white nor as affordable, but my recent search for a t shaped object saw me eventually wind up with a vintera road worn 50s that I’m really happy with. Minor snags (nut wanting a little more tlc) and the finish relic (bit stark and to template but a bit of time playing hard and putting back wet should solve) aside I can’t fault it. The worn neck especially makes it feel great to play. Could be an interesting one for you to review or compare against other Fender/Squier for where it sits price wise and is trying to offer

I have one and it was a very Platinum Blonde at first and after a few months the pink came out and I was very disappointed because it sounded and played so good like really good. I brought it to a local luthier here in NYC and he told me possibly because of the pine the translucent color isn't looking as I expected, he said pine comes in a lot of shades and eventually turns a light shade almost a pale grey say like a fence does over time. Anyway I have it a couple of years now and it did change to a nicely faded wood tone and the finish is now out standing as they really put that platinum streak on it like they did in the past. so it's a keeper, did I say it sounds and feels great. Thanks for all the fun shows. btw we have very similar taste in guitars style wise and price.

It is made in China in 2020 and the body is not in pieces, it is like a single piece, especially the texture of the tree from the back body is a single piece. There is no clear joining line anywhere on the guitar. Regarding the color, I can say that it is ivory cream, maybe a little bit light pink. But I am very pleased with its tone. I was told that White Blonde only really looks 'right' over an ash body, I love white telecasters too and had a conversation with Warmoth about this and apparently a very large percentage of their 'complaints' about colour finish comes from people having this finish over different woods. The Tele was horrible in just about every way imaginable & the Strat looked ok but had a non-functioning truss rod. I also sent back a Fender Classic Player 60's Strat earlier in that same year because of terrible build quality. If I recall correctly though, the classic vibe tele was quite a featherweight. On the other hand, I've just now picked up a very nice & really cheap on eBay 2021 Squier Bullet hardtail Strat in a (nice to me) Tropical Turquoise with a mostly flamed, dark fingerboard neck that I intend to heavily modify. I got a Squier “butterscotch” that had the same opaque finish… and I sent it back. Then I got a shell pink Squier Cyclone and it was gorgeous. Like your white Tele, it has a “solid” pink finish, like the “solid” sea foam green on my Squier Jaguar.

Thanks for comment... at least with shell pink you’d know what colour to expect! 😂👍

For grins, I checked out a Squier CV Strat in this same color on the Sweetwater website, and even in the picture, it was pretty clearly this color. I feel your pain, though. Your vintage Tele is a serious beauty!

the paint coat isn't thick enough, limited coats. the yellow/reddish hue of the wood is mixing with the thin white coat making them look "pink". they prolly looked white when sprayed but some of the coat got sucked up by the wood, that is why you can see the grain.
@Hammonds77 Жыл бұрын
This is why I went with the butterscotch over this white/pink. All the newer made in Indonesia white ones I’ve seen are this colour but some are more pinker than others. They got the butterscotch right but it definitely is a heavy guitar

You could try the polar white fender player telecaster, which is affordable

What a bummer! I have a 50's classic vibe tele in Butterscotch and IMO they could have charged more for it and it still would have been worth it. It's heavy at 9.6lbs but I prefer heavy guitars so no issues for me. Sorry you got a dud! Hopefully the next one is better.

Same finish as the Mary Kay Fenders. With out the gold hardware. It's actually one of my favorite Fender finishes.

just purchased a CV 50s butterscotch coloured, one of the best guitars I´ve ever played, speaking of course in its Tele category. Quite a few "details" to watch for though, like the Alnico pickups which require EQ, because they are crystal clear sounding and some people want some native distortion or colour and these pickups are powerful yet pristine. The guitar begs being played, or tamed perhaps, until it starts to show its character. Lots of sustain, thanks to a wonderful neck, the best, coupled to a massive body. I sincerely hope it ages well. I´ve purchased a sturdy hard case for her. A Tele, what else?

Interesting, I have one on these Telecasters, never thought it looked pink until I saw this video! Now I can see a pink tinge to it although not as much as yours. It doesn't bother me at all, certainly agree about the weight though!

I’m 32 right now and when I was younger guitar weight didn’t matter at all to me. I had an RG with a mahogany body that probably weighed close to 10 pounds but, those days for me are gone lol. Guitar weight is extremely important to me now, because I find myself getting fatigued from long sessions with heavier guitars.

Interestingly enough there are approx. 150 shades of "White". I think it just has pink overtones cause the pink squires are really quite pink ! Definitely too heavy...but that's cause it's Pine.

10.1 pounds. I just built a guitar and it’s 8.4 pounds and I was worried about it being too heavy. I would guess that the wood hasn’t been dried properly. And that means it will change shape over time and possibly crack or check. Especially if it’s pine. Kiln dried pine should be lighter than most hardwoods like alder, mahogany, and especially maple.

The colour and the weight would not have bothered me. But I can tell by pickguard mounted neck pickup that it is one of the newer Indonesian made ones, which don’t stand up compared to the China ones. Mine is a made in China from late 2018. The China ones have the proper 50s style body mounted neck pups (with the adjustment screws beneath the pickguard), and more importantly, they have the brass bridge saddles and full size control pots. They definitely started cutting corners on the Indonesian ones a bit.

I was similarly unimpressed with one I tried out in a shop. The weight alone was a deal breaker...I'm only 36 but I could not imagine doing a 2 or 3 hour gig with that plank around my neck! I was however really impressed with one of their Esquire reissues (as I saw you were too in your video) and a 60s Classic Vibe Tele that looked, played and sounded great. If you ever picked up a 60's Vibe I'd be interested to see how you think it compares to the 50's Vibe, to me it was damn near night and day!

I bought a butterscotch blonde. It was a beautiful, well built and great sounding guitar but it was, as you called it, a real back breaker. Mine weighed 9.8 pounds. It sat in my guitar rack and didn't get played much. I just didn't enjoy picking the thing up. Got rid of it.

Was interested in acquiring a CV '60's Custom Tele... However, waited too long... They changed manufacturers and specs. Been kicking my own behind since. The prices for the M.I.C. are ridiculous now. Live and learn eh...? Thanks for an interesting video as usual 😎👍❤🖖 Love brother

I picked up a used, BSB CV Tele a few years ago. I was actually a bit concerned when I found out it was made in China, but it plays great, sounds great, and looks great. It only weighs 8.1 ounces. I guess I got lucky.

It amazes me how when someone points something out to you, you start noticing it everywhere! I've been thinking on buying a Telecaster for some time, but I wasn't sure it was the guitar for me, so, I started looking at some video reviews of this exact model. When I saw this video I thought "well, this guy got a dud, I've seen this guitar many times on videos, and it is transparent white, not pink" After watching this video, I went back to see the other video reviews I've found of this guitar, and now THEY ARE ALL PINK! I still like the guitar, tho, I don't mind the "pinkish" color at all, but it is funny how I never noticed it until this video. I would have loved a proper review of the guitar sound and quality despite the color, but I understand you were planning to sending it back and there was no point in taking it apart.

I have a 2009 squier classic vibe and it was vintage white/cream coloured 10 years ago. Now it’s sort of turned a darker cream like an off yellow white doesn’t actually look as good. The older ones definitely were white in colour. I saw a newer one and it was totally different. I would send it back too

I have a couple of US made fender guitars including a Clapton signature strat and a 52 reissue Tele. I played a squier cabronita Tele the other day. It was excellent. Build quality was excellent. Sound was excellent. It’s about a 4-5 times the price of a US made Tele. Very impressive. It’s as good as any of my US made guitars to play.

@@damagecontrol60 yes that’s correct. And an update to that.. I bought a Squier Contemporary Jaguar.... it’s phenomenal. Build quality outstanding. Sound outstanding. Meanwhile the limited edition player series Mexican made strat I was considering was pretty poor quality. A bend on the second fret would pull strings out of the nut....

I FINALLY sold my ridiculously heavy 10lbs Harley Benton TE53-KR Keith Richards Tribute Tele. 7lbs my limit. My Squier FSR Custom Classic Vibe Baritone Tele is only 7.2lbs. If I cannot actually see it before buying it, then I usually shop at Sweetwater where if there is more than one in stock, they list the weight....thankfully. Weight, is why I don't play Les Pauls.
