I bought my first Fenix flashlight about ten years ago.....the L2D (which later changed to the LD20) and I still use it every day. These are very rugged and reliable flashlights. Great review on the PD35, I'll have to give this one a serious look.

Thanks Ben. Great review on this new flashlight. My first "real" flashlight was the PD-35, and I still have it in my go-bag. I like the rechargeable one as well. That is the most satisfying sounding tail click I have ever heard. Trying to decide between this and the P12GT. I may get both. I don't own a Fenix yet and I want to see what the hype is about. Heard they have the best anodizing and reflectors in the biz. The night shots in this video and the one about the FD41 and a couple others seem to be 1000% clearer and a lot less noise than almost every other video of yours. Especially the sports field part on the FD41. It really helps us get an idea of the beamshot at a distance. You know what you did different?

Got this light today as a replacement to my UC35 due to leaving it on the back of my work truck after changing a tire. I probably would of gone with the 2016 version of the ThruNite TN12 NW myself, but I have no complaints. It's a great light. Withstands abuse. Great step downs with the light modes. I'll probably never use the tactical mode as I use all 5 different modes during work. I only wish Fenix would get off of their ass and make their lights tail stand and have a proper moonlight mode.

I just wanted to say that the sheath that came with it fell apart in like a week but I like the light, I took off the lanyard that came with it because i dropped the light a few times on the pavement nicking it up, 3 times so far, someone gave me a nintendo wii lanyard that is amazing. Took the light out in the canoe at night holding underwater saw lots of fish. Kind of surprised fenix would make such a shitty sheath but I would rather corners be cut if that's the case on the sheath not the light :)

Solarforce makes the FH-1 flashlight nylon sheath for their flashlight, they're very strong, thick and solid nylon sheaths and perfect for the PD35 series flashlights or any other light of the same size or little bigger, including Surefire. You can purchase them on the Solarforce website or eBay for $5.00 - The only down side is that you need to wait about 10 days to receive it because is shipped from China.

It's actually not version 5 of the LED, Ben. If it was, it would be called XP-L5. The V5 refers to the circuit bin behind the LED, and that determines the color tint and efficiency of the whole system. Easy mistake to make, though, so you're forgiven :-)

I dislike the new metal button. My PD32 and PD35 have the rubberized button which I prefer because you can find it with your thumb in the dark. Try that with the metal button - you can't feel it. And with gloves on its virtually impossible to feel. Give me the rubberized buttons any day. I think Fenix really screwed up by changing to this metal button. I still like the flashlight but the PD32 and 35 are my go-to flashlights, not my newer PD35 Tac.
