Thanks for the review. Nicely articulated, especially when describing the feel of the button, and on how to charge the battery! I won't lie, I was scratching my head at first. Not a step I typically have to RTFM for (also, first time seeing a usb port built into the battery casing too). That said, I don't mind having to take the battery out to recharge. The design improves waterproofness. My old Nitecore (marketed as waterproof) died after water got into the usb port. The rubber cover the plugs the usb port was pulled off accidentally and I didn't notice. As for the button on the PD36TAC, I like the design too. Less chance of accidentally turning it on. Something that's happened to me many times with the side button on my old Nitecore. Anyway, I'll be taking the PD36TAC with me on my deer hunting trip this Nov (Ontario, Canada). I'll let you know how it goes.

Tactical Mode is only 2000 lumens. The Turbo setting is only available in the Duty mode, which offers 30/150/350/1000/3000 lumen settings (no 2000 lumen setting in Duty Mode other than Strobe).

I ordered one of these just because of the mechanical locking mechanism. My previous fenix light that I am now replacing because it's finally kicked the bucket and only turns on when it feels like it, has that stupid side button so many of their flashlights have. The double click locking mechanism is way too easy to unlock accidentally just from going about your day with things knocking and pressing into where your light is. Even after I rotated the clip and taped it in place to stop it from rotating, so that the button was facing inward, I would still sometimes find out that it was on, and I had no idea how long it had been on. It doesn't instill much confidence in the large battery life if it can do that, I was always checking the battery level indicator light to see what the level was at because I was paranoid that I would need it for something, and it had drained itself by turning itself on in my pocket. In my opinion, any EDC flashlight needs to have a significantly more secure locking mechanism than that, it's not be something that frequently unlocks itself and turns itself on.

I ordered a spare battery like the one in the video and when fully charged it indicates a blue light at the top of the battery but the one that came with my flashlight indicates green when fully charged. Why two different fully charged colours for the exact same batteries ?

Not a 100% certain, all of the ones I have are blue. Fenix might have changed the LED.

About every 2-3 months is what I recommend, and only charge to full if you need to use it, charging to 100% and then leaving it is bad for the battery's long-term heath!

Yes it accepts Fenix 21700 button top batteries - but you will need to take them out and charge them in a charger.

So in Tactical mode, you can't even access Turbo. There is no direct to Turbo access. None! Oh and the lock-out feature is right in the middle. So if you're in Tactical mode and you grab your light a bit too quickly, accidentally causing that practically-no- resistance tailcap switch to rotate, your light won't turn on. Brilliant! I would love to meet the "genius" who decided those were great ideas. 🤬

Holster's too tight. I might remove the holster's bottom & strap, & use the flashlight holstered. Switches & clip are accessible holstered.

Mode switch looks easy to bump accidentally. Deal breaker for me. Anyway, I'm happy with my PD36R.

Not at all, you have to turn it intentionally, its rather hard and it has a convenient lock that you haven't in your PD36R which is also a less powerful model. Working in security as me a 2000 lumens mode and a fast dual velocity strobe with just a pulse is very convenient.
