Oh btw...when my daughter (during her active addiction) was really nice, that was a red flag for me. Anytime she would address me as "mommy," I knew something was up. This is why it's paramount to talk to other parents to compare notes.

Excellent advice. I'm going on 3 years clean and sober and have my parents a detailed list of things I do when I'm using. I was able to hide my addiction well but I know I don't have another relapse in my so I wanted my parents to be able to pick up on anything asap.

Snapchat needs to be held accountable for all the trafficking that goes on there. When my 7 ur old asked me why she has to go to counseling, I told her : so you learn to cope without self harm or self medicating. Just one pill xan kill and now they put it in and on everything. Pills, leaf, alcohol. You can never be too observant, too cautious or too involved. I feel so much pain for this families loss. Opiates destroyed my hometown. Hate to see it has only gotten worse.

I am a step momma as well. My baby committed suicide 3 years ago this past September & that's something I never let her do is call me momma. That's something I regret now. But I had the upmost respect for her birth mom, her dad on the other hand did not, so I explained she had a momma I was bonus momma. Even though her mom and I share the same first name her dad had custody of her at age 4 months but also furnished the gun that she took her life with. I will never ever forgive my ex husband for her death. Again I'm so sorry for the loss of your boy. I share your pain. It sucks.

My sister just got the death certificate back from her fiancé that died 2 years ago. The amount of fentanyl in his system was enough to kill many people. He was found dead with no paraphernalia or drugs around his body and his apartment door open (not completely shut) . His death was not investigated at all; I assume because he was an addict years before his death. He slipped for one moment in time and paid the ultimate price.

Through watching these videos & others, I have noticed a trend. Most of the people, if not all, that have a tendency to self medicate & also have addiction problems, are empathic & sensitive; someone that cares more for others than they do for themselves. I, also, had an addiction problem after having surgery on both feet 20 yrs ago. I have been sober now for 8 yrs, thank GOD. I am the type of person that cries at commercials on TV & cry when strangers cry. I feel what others feel and it is a burden to be so sensitive in that way sometimes. Having immense emotions for others all the time, leads to depression, anxiety, etc. I just wanted to note that I noticed that a lot of these people seem to be the same way that I am. Like this young man feeding the homeless for his bday & loving children, etc. It is a struggle, especially in boys/men to feel that they are "enough" & the pressures that come with society & how we view the expectations of being a man and things like that. I hope that if you feel depressed or have anxiety as a teen, that you seek help & talk to someone. Never hold all that stuff you're feeling inside & keep it a secret. It leads to self medicating & addiction...which nowadays will kill you as we are seeing here. No one wakes up one day and says "I want to be an addict or pop pills for fun." It goes so much deeper. I will be thinking about this family & sending all of my love from afar....

I’m so sorry for loss, sending lots of love ❤️ and hugs 🤗 I’ve been clean from heroin for 17 yrs and I remember the withdrawals like they were yesterday. I can’t even imagine a 15 yr old going through opiate withdrawals and not telling their parents why they are sick. I don’t wish opiate withdrawals on my worst enemy. I wanted to unalive myself when I was going through withdrawals. It is awful. I never understood how people could “kick” in jail with absolutely nothing to help, get out of jail, use, go back to jail, kick again, it was a revolving door for some. I truly believe had fentanyl been around back when I was using, I’d probably no longer be on this earth. I have a cousin who went from heroin to fentanyl with no end in site 😢

Unfortunately all these stories have not only fentanyl poisoning in common but also the failure of the police to protect and serve us civilians. It's not going to get any better either. There is power in numbers and Unfortunately ppl still hate one another for the color of their skin and whom ppl choose to love. So getting everyone to join hands and rise up demanding change just isn't realistic. I'm sorry for your loss I hate to hear anything like this. I've lost ppl I loved to this powerful substance as well. Not my family but friends. I am truly sorry that the police have also failed to protect and serve your family as well. U aren't the last one they will fail and hopefully one day ppl will rise up and hold police accountable for failing to work for us like they are suppose to. Unfortunately I just do not see it happening anytime soon.

Finding kids smoking weed is definitely a problem. Not only can it be laced with fentanyl, coke or other things but anything that allows a kid to "feel adrift" is a sign that they're seeking a type of coping mechanism for something that's going on with them. Just because the government has "legalized" weed, doesn't mean that it's okay for our kids. Weed should be used by adults who have the power to accept the responsibility behind it. It should not be acceptable or normalized for a teenager to smoke weed. We should be teaching kids discipline and how to care for their bodies. Sometimes they may need emotional counseling to deal with their issues.

I don’t see why a lot of people don’t understand that the same things apply to weed as they do alcohol. People treat it so differently and I don’t get it. Like you said, thinking it’s okay for young people to use it. Or like when I see dui videos, and also the comments in those threads, and many people think it’s simply normal and okay to be under the influence of thc, so long as it isn’t alcohol. The mindset is still a bit strange surrounding that.

Such a thoughtful Mom and sister, and the way they describe their feelings is visceral. I'm so sorry for this family. Kids, adults, NEVER take something that hasn't been prescribed and comes from a pharmacy with your name on it. I know what it's like to be young and think nothing can touch you, but fentanyl is a killer drug, and the people that make counterfeit pills DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, or anything other than making money. So sad.

Dear Victoria, You are such a beautiful woman who has had the most horrible thing happen. I am so sorry for your incredible loss. Johnathan sounds like a wonderful young man, or shall I say child since he was only 15. So young, who had a big heart for babies and those who were considered underdogs who he stuck up for. Such a sensitive soul he had. No parent should have to loose their child in such a sudden and tragic way. I hope that you get justice soon and that that justice will bring you peace and comfort. Victoria, what a beautiful young lady you are. I admire the fact that you had a best friend relationship with your brother. Many brothers and sisters bicker with each other as I did with my younger brother. Deep down though, there’s that unconditional love. I’m so sorry that you lost your brother, your best friend. Perhaps being in his old bedroom, in a way you feel a little closer to him. 💙

My son has abdominal migraines, they are brutal. He threw up for 30+ hours once, and had to hospitalized. This is the first time I’ve heard anyone else mention it. It is in fact a real diagnoses. He is on meds to help, basically medicine that knocks him out until the episode passes.

I didn’t lose a child yet Johnathon’s mother’s message resonated with me. I lost a very, very close friend to this poison. No loss comes close to this one. I lost my mom and other relatives but this one was an out of order loss. Gone too soon. I agree that my priorities are changing. I want part of my friend’s legacy to live on through me and he always put family first (and he thought of us as his family). He was there for his friends when they needed him. Relationships and memories are at the top of the list now. Praying for this family. Very brave to come forward and share their pain! ❤️🙏😔

I also smoked weed at 15 and I never have used any other drugs of any kind. I also was never around any others who used harder drugs. But this was a long time ago, and drugs we not as prevalent as now. In saying that, I did go to a party once and walked into a room and was offered some heroin by someone and I could not get out of there fast enough. I also worked for the police and could have lost my job if this party had been raided. It gave me such a fright, and I found my friends and told them I was going home, and left!

Another tough one 🥺 I just saw his age on the thumbnail and thought to myself „Oh my god“… 😧 There were two things that stood out to me in this episode, one thing is seeing the smile in Johnathan‘s mothers face as she told the story about his passion for babies and then, in a split second, the pure grief when she said that he would have been a good dad 😳 Very very sad to watch! The other thing is I‘m amazed how grown up his sister is, very reflective but also very emotional. Without knowing Johnathan or his sister in person I bet they both are, or sadly when it comes to him, were amazing human beings. 15 years is NOT an age at which you should die, regardless because of a disease or because you got killed by Fentanyl Poisoning! I really hope that justice will be served and that whoever is at fault and gave him that one pill will be held accountable to the maximum in a court of law! I wish his family all the best and that they will continue to remember him with a smile in their face. With again sad regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp
