I still remember the days when I could just roll up and take a hulldown position in my Ferdinand and Jagdtiger years ago, playing "heavy TD" used to be my favourite playstyle. Unfortunately they went from invincible monsters to gold round practice targets, and while I still keep the good ol' Ferdi in my garage, it has been collecting dust for a while. Such a sad thing to see.

This td is probably my emotional favourite from the tech tree. I got to it early, played it more than most, and have done well even in the power-creeped world it lives in. If WoT had talismans like WT does, that makes a tank a pseudo-premium in earnings, I would buy it for this one.

Still got my record kills in my ferdi - 12. Was probably back in 2012/13. I remember unlocking the top gun and feeling invincible! It was also my first line/tier 8!

Same here. It had the gun of the Maus and not so much gold was fired at the time, so Ferdy was really powerful

Same. First line I went up when the game was released. Was an amazing tank back then. People were scared shitless and avoided any firing lane you were in like the plague because the armor worked back then.

@@rockervolt9177 Not much tier 8s had over 200mm of pen either. Now it can't handle them. The cheeks are terrible. I managed to get ace tanker with stock gun and only to survive with less than 300HP left as top tier before 9.13 patch it used to have 1200 HP.

played that tank and i suprisingly enjoyed it alot. if you dont rely on the armor youll be suprised how many shots it bounces

I have suggested this tank to move down to Tier 7 with pre-buff 1200 HP, removal of the fake 12.8cm gun like T28 prototype or AT7 due to non-existent armour against tier 9+. A lot of tier 8s now have over 200mm of pen that can pen the cheeks of the tanks. Replace it with the Jagpanther 2 on the NA forums.

Jagpanther 2 is better but it's still not good. Hull armor is garbage and superstructure melts against gold even when hull down and using gun depression

@@abhaybhatt4286 Jagdpanther 2 can block tier 8 and some tier 9's at the least premium rounds, that is what you call a superheavy tank but doesn't have the MM of Superheavy, should be more MMing with STRV TDs. It can also block tier 10 normal shells. Ferdinand can't block shit. All Jagdpanther 2 need is have E50 last engine for P/W ration buff making it more mobile like the Strv and Rusian SU-101 TDs just to balance its crap hull.

Good old Ferdi still has a competitive gun....and the armour can work but the usual caveat: don't rely on it at all :) Was my first T8 TD back in the day with some fond memories of this and the old ISU-152 :) (There is a light tank up my butthole. ANOTHER T-shirt request!)

Better reverse speed would help ferdi. In reality it had suprisingly high reverse speed thank to ite engine. Also little armor buff would help. I think the best TD choice from tier 8 german tds would be rhm since jp2 was nerfed.

... despite this "WG reality" in real ww2 Ferdinand aka Elefant aka Panzerjäger Tiger was a one of most powerfull and non penetretable "tank" / td - same case, like a Tiger 2/King Tiger...i know, this game is adventure only...i wrote it just for interest...

Every single battle I wished I was in JPII. Ferdi was a monster to be afraid of a long time ago. Now it's a pinata. Sluggish piniata. And since it's armor is irrelevant I'd prefer JPII mobility.

the tech tree used to have 2 tier 8 TD and I ran for the JP II in my early game experience and I still think that this one is better overall than Ferdinand aka "Elefant", specially for mobility and armor of the super structure

to be fare i did bounce more shots with this tank then with other tds i got jist because it does have some kind of armor at least on paper and this is important thing to mention because at a distance the pen gets cut for most tanks and since the enemy cant shot u in the speficic pixel... u have a chance to survive. This cannot be said by.... skorpo or other paper like tanks

Skorpion has a significant accuracy advantage compared to the three tech tree tanks in exchange for a slightly lower rate of fire, but otherwise yes. Penetration/damage values and shell velocities are the same.

Used to love the ferdi but now it’s slow and the armour easily negated with wn8 ammo. JPii is still fun though. I’ve nearly finished the JT grind which has been love/hate for me, hope Jagdzilla is worth it lol

since both ferdinand and jpanther2 have same gun I liked jpanther2 more due to its mobility (supposedly jpanther should be mobile and ferdinand "armored" but we know whats the reality with armor) so I think its a shame that jpanther2 was made collectors vehicle and not ferdinand because I think more people would have fun in jpanther 2

Surprised people play so badly the Jagpanther 2 considering it's way better than the Ferdinand, having trollish armor and way more mobility. All german tds share the same 12.8 cm gun which is also present in the Maus and pretty much the same as E-100 before it was buffed, so it's not a bad gun by any means, it's the same the Skorpion G uses, which explains why that premium tier 8 td is so popular. Ferdinand is completely outdated, it needs a massive buff in the armor to compensate somehow but still the nerf in the german engines was too savage for this td.

i always had more fun in my ferdi than i had any business having, it has better gun mobility than the JP2, and an extra loader, and it bounces a shocking amount of shells when you dont expect to bounce literally anything because people see you and because of videos like this they just assume they can throw lead at it and pen and they shoot things like the gun mantlet. the JP2 cant move its gun enough to even use its gun depression in most locations and its too tall so everyone can just shoot the paper hull

Up to the early eight versions, the Ferdinand cannon could hit weak spots from 300-400 meters and blind hits at 500-700 meters were not impossible..., but since then the wot has become very shitty! The Slovak flag was mistaken for a Russian flag, which is now fashionable to kick, that's why they shot at you - the shame of it!
