I use a novel and untried way to heat up the crown wheel carrier bearings on the FE35.

Yes but i learnt to leave it on low, I sent a bearing blue later in the day from having it up too high.

Hmm, fancy bit of kit Lance but not sure how to keep a pie warm at same time. Prob stick to the pie warmer or chip pan for that dual use efficiency. :)

Good day I live in Canada, I grew up using the Farnheit system & 100C=212 boiling, seems awful hot. But I guess if it works. Good. Thanks

G day Don, Yes it is hot but to expand the bearing that seems to be what is needed.

Great Lance those Timken bearings are bloody good! I suppose Judy will be in the market for a new induction cooker? John

I don't think the coil in the induction heater reaches the middle. Maybe offset it from the center next time and see if that heats more evenly.

Great video series again, Lance. I’m thinking of buying a bearing separator for tractor restorations, any reason you’d recommend one bigger than 22-115mm (4.5”)? Thanks, regards.

Im sure it would do most things with the smaller tractors, I think it should be ok.

Hi Lance. Quick question on your choice of bearing. I’m stripping down an FE35 diff too and noticed the diff carrier bearings are class 3 ( I can see a manually engraved “/3” after the stamped code). Given mine are the original Timken bearings I assume this was done deliberately. Do you pay special attention to the bearing class too? Or do you rely on your parts supplier to get you the right ones? Thanks.

Mostly the parts supplier but I did find one had less rollers so I went with the better one in the end.
