In this video I re seal the pitman arms after stripping the box.
Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.
Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandtractorspares.co...
We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you dont see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au and we will help where we can.
I do try and help with technical advise at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

G'day mate the other day I was reading about the history of Ford and Ferguson and how they separated and the things that led up to it is very interesting. I finally found out what the " T E " means which is Tractor England you learn something everyday, this video has been good Lance especially how they did the gearing for the steering forks to move in opposite to one another good one mate .......John PS you did a good job on those housing seals and I couldn't hear the rain!

For some reason I couldn't get those S50258 seals to go in the right way (with lubricant). Kept wanting to roll up. Carefully put them in the other way with a piece of thin walled tube that went down beside the spring. Once started moved hit to top of seal so that I didn't unvulcanize the rubber off the steel. Hopefully it works backwards.

Would bad bushings in the gear box cause the steering to be stiff??

Yes particularly if it is dry. A dry king pin will do the same.

Great video. You mentioned magnesium alloy and your fear of putting the heat to it to get the bolt out. When once stuck in Eastern Algeria with a oil filter housing (Bedford M Series Truck) that had a top on it made from something like that which was fixed to the engine block. The top piece developed a crack which allowed the oil to get out. I went to a workshop down on the Lybian Border in Djanet to get it fixed or brazed in some way. The guy put the heat to it and absolutely destroyed it. I never really understood how it was so easily made useless. Might it have been something like you describe in that comment? We ended up sitting in the desert for 25 days waiting for a new top part of the filter housing to come out from the UK.

Great videos! Absolutely love them. I’m currently restoring a 1952 Ferguson in Ontario Canada. Would you happen to have the correct steering box seal number number. I’m gonna try the opening the original seal up. Thanks
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 жыл бұрын
You cant but the correct seal any more but if you take the old seal into a bearing and seal shop they can give you a seal to do the job. It wont look original but it will work.

Is the te20 steering box similar to the ones on my to20 and my to30? I know they are different bacause mine can both be removed without removel of the transmission cover. Other than that they look very similar so I'm wondering if this video would a good reference when tear into the my to30 which badly needs work.

Hey there, On my TO 20 there's lots of gear lash in the center area of the stroke and binding at the limits. The surface on the backside of the sector gears that the backlash adjuster screw runs against has worn along the travel. Do you think that flattening the back of the sector gears would help? Also there's some tooth wear.
@BundyBearsShed
@BundyBearsShed 3 жыл бұрын
Certainly worth a try.

@tjohnson9051 3 жыл бұрын
Look again at the sector gears and the pinion. My TO 20 was run dry on oil, there was no wear on the sectors, the pinion is softer and was the sacrificial part. You can buy new pinion shaft with the gear and bearings. I found a nice used gear for mine.
