The Acceleration of HYBRID prototypes from the slow corners is unbelievable! This is the main difference between HYBRID and non-Hybrid cars. The electric motors really very helps for beginning of acceleration.

@@zrob8how it changed anything? Toyota was the only car in its category..it had no competition and was expected to win. If Toyota won in 2016 with Porsche competing that would’ve been perfect but their engine blew up on the last lap and Porsche won and quit 😂

It is not important the fastest lap, it is important to be consistent in those fast laps. Alonso put more faster laps than everybody. That is what this sport means. Resistance.

I think he might be trying not to overheat and wear the breaks off, since it's probably one of the most violent braking zone of the track. In the long run it's gotta make a difference, and it's definitely not something you want to be changing in that kind of race.... well in any race really. But it's my guess.

Coasting to recharge the hybrid. You'll find LMP1-L and lmp2 can overtake the HY cars in braking zones because of this. Until they get round the corner and the Hybrid kicks in.

May look that way but he is lifting and coasting into heavy breaking zones this - 1 - charges the hybrid system, and conserves it and 2 - saves him fuel, which in endurance racing is a big factor.

that is false. his night stint was a gamechanger, as he was consistently running 4-5 seconds faster per lap than the lead Toyota, and also he was the first man who really beat Michael Schumacher so no he was not lucky, if that's what you want to call it
