I’ve watched a couple interviews today and the “nothing is eternal” doc earlier , the 11 min long video . Wow she really has always been so unique and her sisters are so beautiful . Also I watched an interview where she was talking about her fascination with death and it was interesting and how she had to have her appendix out. She is really endearing !

There is a 2nd KEXP performance (4 songs) a few months after this one at KEXP radio station in Seattle without an audience though: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYjEZ2uNbtiIeZY At 19:32 in the video the host does a nice interview, here are 2 quotes Aurora says about her performance and energy: 26:07 "I think it took me about 2 years to enjoy being on stage.....cause it is not a natural thing for me to..., I dunno, the attention thing is very strange" 26:40 "...because I have so much energy when I sing, and I can feel like, you know. It comes from like a different place, like from the place of music, if it's....you know, this divine place. I get like, I get too much energy for my tiny human shape." If you want to know about Aurora's background, here are 4 nice interviews: 2 when she was 18-19 and just starting to get noticed, and one later with her 2 sisters, and the last one is funny and shows her quirkiness (hit CC for English subs), but there are so many interesting interviews with her: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYS1qKutpM2noNU kzbin.info/www/bejne/anOZnatog7Jpr7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3ecmKp_pah1b9k kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJOce2lue7idpZI Regarding "Runaway" she wrote it at age 11-12, so it was not about being homesick on tours. I saw her say in an interview that it makes more sense to her later in life than when she wrote it, so it was like a present to herself from the past. "It's strange how this song fits my life better now that I could ever imagine when I wrote the song itself. It's about how important it is to have a soft place to fall" If you want I can give you a long list of amazing live performances, but this post is already too long :-)

Aurora's drummer is Magnus Skylstad, who co-produces a lot of her music including the album she is currently working on. His Wikipedia entry has this anecdote: When he met her, he said "My manager Geir Luedy (also Aurora's manager) asked me if I could do a session with a young woman; we booked the studio, and we recorded 5 or 6 of their songs with just the vocals and piano. I selected one of the songs I wanted to work with. This song was 'Runaway'. She immediately impressed me." Runaway is currently charting around the world after re-emerging on TikTok in March!

Who is Aurora. 1 of 3 sisters. Lived in a house by the fjord of light (Lysefjorden) and with forest around. Here Aurora roamed on her own thinking. She grew up without radio or tv, and only some records of Dylan and Cohan. At 6 she found a broken El. piano in the house. She had to hold the on button down so she learned to play with one hand 🙂. No one knew but she started to add lyrics when she had the words at 11yo, in english! One of her first is Lucky. Still no one knew, untill she wanted to sing for her parents as a gift. She didn't dare to, but made a record instead. 14yo. She also sang at a school event 14yo. Someone leaked it an it was picked up by someone in the music industry. Aurora did not want to become an artist but her mother said that her music could be important to some body. And it is.. 🤗 She was very nervous and allways sick before shows, but now she is ok with it. And now it is 10 years of music history.. 😊 Aurora loves the creative prosess and may change from music to something else. She is a good painter and writer as well. Totally self taught except from some dancing clases. You should check out some of her interviews. 🙂

Yesssss! Not at all surprised that you enjoyed this. "Life-affirming" is a big word, but I sort want to use it for this performance; it is so full of energy and "abundance", for lack of a better term. And yes, certainly Aurora's genius also shines through in her choice of collaboraters; a huge part of why these live performances are so amazing is of course the fact that she has musicians who can bring it to life along with her. (And Silja's amazing, amazing vocals is a huge part of that for me. So with that in mind, let me once again point you towards "It happenend quiet" at The Current; just Aurora, Silja, a guitar and a couple of mics... *sigh*) Thank you for a wonderful reaction - and get well soon, shoulders!

Hey Fern, this performance was my first contact to Aurora about one year ago while roaming randomly through the KEXP gig-videos ... and I instantly fell in love with her. Since then, I went on a wonderful journey of her art and it literaly changed significant parts of my life. (Don't underestimate the magical power of music and its creators). I has been a pleasure watching you enjoying this performance as much as I did (and still do every time). It's lovely to see genuine happiness on people's faces. For me one of the reasons to watch reaction videos like this is the kind of feeling of enjoying the favorite art and artists together with likeable people, similar to sitting together with good friends and listening to music as a social happening. 30:55 To answer these questions I strongly recommend to watch her documentaries (if you haven't already), especially "Nothing is eternal" and the HAIK Documentary. It's a great way to get to know her a little bit more. Maybe in seperate reaction videos ... you wouldn't be the first one doing it that way. 😊

I think Aurora is a true child of nature (yes, I'm aware it's a cliche). She seems to be connected to something outside the world of man, something untamed and pure that the rest of us can not access by ourselves anymore. She lacks all the filters we others observe the world around us thru as soon as we leave innocent childhood. Her child like spirit seems to live and thrive whilst ours are long since dormant. When she sings for us we can get small glimpses of this hidden and ancient world. But only if we slow down and let ourselves listen intently when her spirit speaks to our souls thru her voice. It's a wondrous and precious thing to behold indeed. If there ever was an artist that truly draws her inspiration from nature it's Aurora. I feel the four elements in her voice and her lyrics. I can see in my mind's eye a small clear stream finding it's way thru high mountains and old, deep forests with a cold and crisp wind blowing above it. I can smell the moss covered earth, see all the wild animals along the stream and feel the snowflakes on my face...

I've been waiting for this reaction! I think its about time to officially declare you a ✨warrior and weirdo✨ (even though you've been one for quite a long time) Also, Auroras language in forgotten love doesn't have any actual meaning because its not an actual language. I believe she said that the only meaning is what we feel it means. Also I'm really looking forward to seeing your cover! It'll turn out beautiful❤️

I just couldnt hold back and had to watch your beautiful reaction to this beautiful masterpiece of a concert again. Lady, I have to say I just enjoy every second of the deep raw enjoyment you seem to have while listening to Aurora. I feel you truly understand the uniqueness of this little norwegian genius in quite no time. Your "mutism" after all is soft inside makes me kind of emotional cause I felt the same first time. I am really looking forward for future reactions of yours. Finally, I just wanted to thank you for the fun I had watching your reaction. Love from Germany

Here weeks later but I'm not sure if anyone mentioned that All is Soft Inside is about her sister's depression and viewing it from the outside. The song even sounds and feels like a 2 - 3 week manic-depressive episode, Like the lingering darkness in the beginning to chaotic mania in the middle back down to radical acceptance in the outro.

31:30 To know "Aurora's story" you could check out (as a reaction video or on your own) a couple of documentaries: "Nothing Is Eternal" (it's free on KZbin) and "Once Aurora" (it was airing on some Norwegian channel and wasn't available on KZbin but I think there are re-uploads of it here, still, if someone was to react to it, there would be a lot of copywrite issues, I think). Update: 1) Nothing Is Eternal documentary - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqfHc6KogJtqqs0 2) As I suspected, Once Aurora re-uploads were deleted

@@FernStone I hope you'll have a great time! Also, "Once Aurora" was filmed while Aurora was recording her 2 and 3 albums (Step I and Step II), so there's some insight into her and her team's creative process. One thing to note: there are different versions of this doc. Shorter one was available to the public and full one was released at some screenings on a couple of festivals and, unfortunately, some of us'll never get to see the "full" picture. But I think that the longer version was later available for purchase (?), I'm not quite sure about that, tho. Still, there were some snippets of a longer version on KZbin. For example this one, that shows a little bit of a different version of Forgotten Love (originally named The Beauty In Forgotten Love): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnjVonSEhst2ras

Superb reaction once again! I hope you react to Soft Universe live at Nidarosdomen and Infections of a Different Kind live HAIK later, really great performances! Or maybe react to those entire concerts, those are two of her best with this one being the other great concert. She has many documentaries, the longest one is called Once Aurora which chronicles her life during the making of the Step 1 album you just reacted to. Doing a metal version of All is Soft Inside sounds really cool, hope you decide to go that route!

3:19 "Tiny!" :D She's 1,60m, but the camera lens is a wide angle, so it exasperates the perspective, making she looks even smaller; it also seems that Aurora "falls" towards us. Beautiful video with a palette of colors and lights that also made the images magical for that special evening. Well, then there are the songs, but You All Know How Wonderful They Were.

For some more inspiration for the All is Soft Inside cover here’s a different take on it by Ane Brun. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHOTgqttl9p2fJo that she played for Aurora as part of the Haik documentary. Looking forward to the next album and then we can cut loose and watch all the other live performances :-). Ciao

First, thank you for a great reaction to a great concert. Since you are interested in makeing a cover of All soft inside, you can listen to Ane Brun's cover of this song. This is in the the HAIK documantary part (Aurora HAIK consist of two part, one documentary part and one concert part). Ane Brun is one of the most important artist for Aurora, since her music helped Aurora in some of her hardest times, when she was younger. But be aware of that the HAIK Documentary part has a shorter version of this cover (and Aurora's Warrior performance). Her is a link to the full version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sHOTgqttl9p2fJo

You may want to check a cover of All is Soft Inside by Aurora's idol from childhood. Her name is Ane Brun and she performed it for Aurora as part of the Aurora HAIK documentary. May give you some ideas. Can't wait to hear it. No pressure. And you can also get quite a bit of her backstory in the same documentary complete with a surprise concert at the end... even for her :)
