@cswann8 ~ That was later on in the year. If you remember, Jan. 2020 started off with the death of NBA player Kobi Bryant and his 13 year old daughter along with several other people in that horrific helicopter crash. 2020 just kept right on rolling downhill after that :-(

Nice video! That's my tent @32:32. I remember you two walking by now. You were the only hikers that we saw that day. I didn't recognize you with all of the layers you were wearing, but I think Garvey knew as he kept barking while you were at the Spring. Where you camped below trestle #38 is a local party spot, but it looks like you had it all to yourselves! Great way to start the New Year! Happy 2020!

I just ran across your channel the other day and it is great! My backpacking started in the late 50’s with my dad and ended (bad knee, family, business ) in the early 80’s. When your title said “High Mountains” I was a little amused as based on where you said you lived I didn’t think you were going to take a 1,700-2,000 mile drive to get to high mountains! Most of my backpacking was in the Sierra Nevadas and a few lower ranges in So Ca (under 10,000’) and 4 different trips to the Rockies. Hopefully some day you’ll have the time to take in one or both of those magnificent mountain ranges. Back in the 1960’s and beyond the only place to get decent backpacking gear was Kelty in Glendale Ca. I still have my 1963 vintage Kelty Compartment pack (top drawer at the time), I guess it’s museum time for it now with all the new items on the market. I haven’t hiked (except short day hikes) since the 1980’s but you’re channel is interesting for me to see what’s happened to gear in the 35 plus years that I last did this type of camping.

Susie, I absolutely agree with you. When I hit the woods they relax me. I sleep better and food tastes better. I also agree with Luke, my senses wake up, my sight, smell, hearing become more acute. The wilderness is a place of regeneration and re-creation for me. That you two love each other and enjoy the woods warms my heart. That you are so smart about loving and taking care of the woods, teaching others to do the same is absolutely wonderful. You give me hope that your generation is gonna be fine.
