Had my first drive in a 250 GTE today. Chassis number 3043. What an amazing car. Fresh off a full restoration. 4 hours of wonderful driving. Truly amazing cars.

@@SuperCarClassicsTV Very much so, especially in the rain when you can't find the wiper switch:D Still waiting for the owners manual. Can you tell me how the wipers are turned on and off? Some say Ferrari today has lost its soul. I think cars like these prove it's still very much intact. When driving an 812 for instance, it is so obvious that Ferrari is still working on the principles of passion and evolution. With the old cars one can enjoy a unique feeling of craftsmanship and analogue connection with the car. With an 812, it makes it fun to really appreciate how good these modern Ferraris really are and how much time and effort the team bend them have put into their development. As per Enzo's philosophy. "The best Ferrari is the next", and a car like this must have been a truly mesmerising experience back in the late 50's and early 60's.

@@AB-80X sorry, I cannot help you with the wipers 😬. I do not own the car unfortunately! I agree with the rest of your story... I actually really like the 812 GTS!

@@SuperCarClassicsTV Same. I am in the minority who prefer it in a bright colour. Thinking Rosso Maranello. I was a bit disappointed that they did not start it up during the reveal last week. But judging by the video on the Ferrari website, the GPF has not affected the sound too much.

Back in the mid-70s, as a young man, I had this exact car...same color, even. It was my first car. But mine was in a lot rougher shape. Want to know what I sold it for? Are you sitting down? About $4,500--just slightly less than I paid for it. Yeah, that was a long time ago.

Jack Webb I know more stories like that, so hopefully you'll be comforted by that. If people could predict the future we would all be rich, or... nobody! Regards, Walter

Jack Webb Not quite the same, but I sold a solid daily driver 911E for 1800gbp around $2750- I guess...............Yes, a long time ago !!

SuperCarClassics - The world's most appealing classic car channel! Thanks for updating! My father owned one until it was seriousely damaged by the father of Frits Kroymans, the later distributor of Ferrari in NL. ;-)

+Jack Webb but in that time 4500 was corvette/new porsche money yeah?

Oh, no. Not even close. I couldn't afford those cars, and didn't want a Vette anyhow. I do recall that a new 365 Daytona that I test drove in '73 had a sticker price of about $23K, but most used Ferraris that I knew about were under $20K. This one was the only one in my range because it was in somewhat tatty shape.

Quite a quiet engine, mind you it was at low revs.

In college in the late '70s early '80s I had a chance to buy a silver GTE, rough original interior and paint, straight body and good runner for $10k. Of course I didn't have the money back then.

@@SuperCarClassicsTV I have had car investment opportunities over the years, that haven't been heeded. Back then I could have put the touch on my father in law, but I was just a kid in college, "What does he know?" I probably would have sold it off before it reached today's values anyway.

You can never really oversee the consequences of choices you make. I think you're probably right in your last sentence statement.
