This car doesnt deserve the hate. Its easily the best sounding V6 out there. The F80 having this engine is much worse.

It has a different system and engine. Yes it's also V6 but more derived from their race teams. It Will also sound incredible. This does toonfor a V6. But you should not compare it to a v12 of old.

Honestly this is the best looking rear-mid-engined Ferrari since F430 for me. The sound is also a lot better than all of their turbo V8s.

I’ve owned virtually all the modem supercars from Porsche, Mclaren, Lamborghini, and a few Ferraris (not a huge fan of the brand) and I have to say the 296 is incredible to drive and stunning to look at in the flesh and in motion. Pictures don’t do it justice and the car even sounds great. A fabulous road car

The 488 was more hated than the 296. People were raving about the sound going from the 458 to the 488 and most journalists said it's become too fast for the road. So now they made an even faster version of literally the same car (more advanced chassis and everything but still), with less cylinders and slightly altered looks, for a 100K more! And people seem to love it. Alright then

The 296 has a new chassis from the ground up unlike the 458/488/F8. It's a smaller car with a shorter wheelbase

I believe this car is the successor of F355 and a bit 360 Modena when you consider lean and simple aesthetics of the overall form, simplicity on the architecture and innovation in engine lineup (f355 with 5valves/cyl and 296 with low slung 120 deg v6). F430 and 458/488 had more complex architecture and gimmicks, design relying more on details and elements rather than the overall monolithic form, which has reached its ridiculous pinnacle with F80🤢 And if anyone should hate a ferrari, the guys made purosangue for that, lol.

For a v6 this sound actually decent to say the least, I understand Ferrari calls it the „piccolo V12“. Its looks are of course a purely subjective matter of personal taste, but well in keeping with the more feminine round and soft lines of Ferraris design language.

Buyers don't want the Ferrari 296 because it's a hybrid, plain and simple. This model will be a disaster to maintain; turbo, batteries, electric motors... Monitors and touch sensitive buttons... all of that will either break after 10+ years or lose pixels and then break. And this is Ferrari and they should not have gone that way, since it is a car brand whose vehicles are a long-term investment. Ferrai 296 is a big step back.

Can’t say I agree with some of your comment as you need to separate new buyers from those who buy second hand. Ferrari stock is flying (just check RACE ticker over past 5 years), their order book is full so the 296 is selling well. Also most buyers of new Ferraris don’t buy them as long term investments, quite the opposite. They have the means to buy and replace these cars regularly (chasing the latest model). The part of your comment I do agree with is if these cars do have reliability problems then it will be an expensive exercise for subsequent owners. As an owner of a near 30 year old F355, I love the simplicity of the car and the thought of maintaining touchscreens & hybrid batteries hold zero interest for me as well.

I have more than a passing interest in cars but the 296 did nothing for me when launched, so I've never paid much interest to them. I got up close to one yesterday and I must say how truly underwhelming they are. They sound woeful and sport and overall look of incongruity - a mix of sharp edges and bulbous protrusions. It should've been badged a Dino...but then that'd go straight over the heads of the nouveau riche at who this is aimed!
